In this promotional financial‑advice video, CFP® Craig Wear addresses high‑net‑worth individuals who have amassed large IRA balances (the "IRA millionaires"). He explains that while many such savers are reluctant to pay taxes now, the key decision is when to pay rather than if to pay. Wear advocates an accelerated Roth conversion plan that lets investors control the timing and amount of tax liability, avoiding the larger, less predictable taxes that arise from Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) and from the "widow’s tax" that can hit a surviving spouse when the original owner dies. He stresses that tax planning should be a lifetime strategy, not a year‑by‑year exercise, because the compounding effect of large IRA balances can push taxpayers into higher brackets quickly, and waiting can add 20‑40% extra tax. The video concludes with a call to action: viewers are invited to schedule a free consultation with the firm’s “Rothologists” to evaluate conversion pacing and long‑term tax strategy.

If you've gotten to the IRA millionaire kind of status, you're in the top 10% of American savers. You've done the right things for a long period of time and it's worked out. The challenge is when you get to that point, there are reasons why you have to do things different than what somebody maybe that's got a little bit more modest IRA is. You know, we talk to hundreds of people every single week through our CFPs and through our Rothologists. I've asked the team what they think. I've gotten some input on what they hear a lot. And it's really consistent with what I've heard for 16 years now. A lot of people, they just say, look, I just don't want to pay the taxes. I got I've got a great friend right now, and that's exactly where he's at. He's got a lot of money in IRAs, and he's at a high tax rate, and he just psychologically, he just doesn't want to pay the taxes. I get it. But what he doesn't really get, and what you may be having a hard time with, is just the psychology in all this. So it's not really about if you're going to pay the taxes or not. It's about when you choose to pay them. And by getting an accelerated Roth conversion plan in place, you actually take control over when you pay the tax and how much you pay the tax, as opposed to just waiting until your RMDs kick in and then pay whatever the government tells you you have Tax planning isn't something that should be done year by year when you're looking at Roth conversions. And I appreciate my CPA and the people that have helped me do the returns for all, over all the years. You know, I do want to pay attention to what's happening this year, but really we're talking about tax planning is a lifetime event. It's one of those things that you, you plan for what's going to happen over your lifetime. Because when you open the lens and you don't get too focused on this year, what you discover, there's a tremendous amount of tax that you can avoid if you plan for it properly. When you have a larger IRA, All of a sudden, your RMDs are probably going to push you up into higher brackets anyway. And gosh, there's so many bullet points I can give you here, but what our research has shown us is for IRA millionaires, the compounding effect of that much money over just a year or 2 or 3 is an increase in dollar volume that you cannot overcome with a lower tax rate later. In addition to that, you've got to consider the fact of what happens if you don't do these conversions. What happens when one spouse passes and leaves the other? That's what we call, and the industry calls, the widow's So all of a sudden, what you find is the remaining heir maybe has less income, but they're taxed at higher brackets because of the difference between married filing joint bracket and tax rates and single payer tax rate. You could easily leave your spouse with an extra 20%, 30%, 40% additional tax increase in the amount of tax by just waiting. So it's really important not to wait and not to expect that you're going to have a lower bracket later on.
