In this short set filmed at Laurel Park in Gainesville, Simon (referred to as “Bang bang, this is Simon”) explains why K9 handlers should conduct off‑site training. He emphasizes that dogs must be able to perform obedience, tracking, detection, and controlled bite work in a variety of real‑world environments, not just within a training facility. Off‑site sessions expose dogs to public‑area distractions, allowing handlers to spot and correct training deficiencies while the dog learns to generalize tasks—finding odors, tracking, and biting suspects anywhere. Simon concludes by encouraging viewers to follow the series for further learning.

Bang bang, this is Simon. Welcome to our short set today. We're at Laurel Park in Gainesville and we're doing some off-site training. So let's talk about training offsite. And the importance of it. You need your dog to be well-versed in any type of environment. You need them to be able to operate not just at the training facility, but out in public as well. There's a lot of distractions out here, and those distractions allow us the opportunity to identify any deficiencies that we might have in training, and at the same time allow us to train through them. So we'll go out practice obedience, we'll do tracking, we'll also do some detection as well. And even in some situations in a safe environment, we'll conduct some bite work as well. But this allows the dog to generalize that they are able to not only just do those tasks in one certain spot, but generalize it to being able to do it anywhere. They can find odor anywhere, they can bite the suspect anywhere, and that they can track anywhere as well. All right guys, thanks for checking in with us. I hope you learned many things, and many things you will learn if you just follow along with us. So go ahead, check out our series, and hope to hear from you guys. Thank you. Aah!
