Painting business owners stuck in production can't find time to market. Hiring a production manager frees you up but feels risky. The $500K-$1M revenue range is where owners typically hit this wall. Set clear processes first, let them make mistakes, and you can finally focus on sales.
if you're in that position in your business right now where like you're running 10 ways from Sunday and you have solid production, you have sales coming in, but you wish you had more sales coming in, you would have more sales coming in if you had more time to focus on marketing and sales, but production is taking all of your time right now. The production manager is a big hire. It can be scary too bringing on someone like that and trusting someone knowing that they're gonna make mistakes. You have to let them make mistakes because if you're there coddling them, preventing them from making mistakes, they're never going to be able to truly take over your role.
I'm sure that's something that you've seen is for folks struggling in this area between $500K and $1 million is making that first hire and giving up that control? What makes that psychologically easier to make that step?
It sounds kind of corny, but preparation will make it easier.
