Painting business owners often post dry job descriptions when they should write compelling ads that sell the role. Define your ideal candidate first—someone self-managed, direct, and passionate—then use engaging language to attract people who actually fit.
Chapters
We did that very specifically with you and we drew up what we call benchmark, the ideal traits. What are the targets in self-management, in directness? Should they be passionate in these things? We measure lots of things so that we could say, are we going to catch the right fish? We attracted, we wrote a compelling job ad. One mistake I see business owners make often is they post a job description instead of a job ad. And a job description is very detailed and gets kind of granular, but a job ad is in fact an advertisement, so it needs to be less dry and to the point, matter of fact. It needs to be more sizzle. It needs to sell the position. Are you looking for this kind of position? Are you this kind of person? Would you like working in this environment? If you would, then read on. So real compelling.
