Painting business owners should identify four core roles in their operation: business owner, salesperson, production manager, and crew lead. Assign each role a percentage of revenue based on market rates for that position. Owners under $500K typically do all four jobs themselves; at $1.5M they can start delegating.
There's a lot of hats, but there's kind of 4 main ones. There's the business owner wearing that hat. You're the salesperson. A lot of the times you might be still wearing that hat. Production manager, maybe you're still wearing that hat. Maybe someone else is. Crew lead, the admin person. If you're under $500K, you're probably wearing all those hats simultaneously. If you're at $1.5M, you might have one of those hats on someone else. First step is to identify what are the roles that I'm playing in my painting business. From there, looking at the data, we kind of have a good understanding of what each of those roles gets paid on the open market.
Assigning a certain amount of, of revenue to these individual jobs. And if you're the entrepreneur just starting off and you're wearing all those hats, then there might be multiple percentages that get assigned to you because you're doing multiple roles in the company.
