A painting contractor explains why gross profit is the first metric you need to track in your business. The speakers walk through how bookkeeping reveals where your money actually goes and invite you to their private Facebook group for more help.
Assessing your gross profit. I think this is one of the key numbers that you'll need to know. Knowing your numbers and what they mean is super important in your painting business. And so this one is, if not the first one you need to understand, it's one of the first ones. There's other things involved, of course. Gross profit is a big thing, and getting a handle on what your gross profit is— you don't need to do job costing necessarily. If you just know your overall gross profit, you can kind of have a good feel for things overall, you know. So getting on a bookkeeping system that can give you that information, you know, will be pretty important to doing that.
