First of all, could you introduce yourself and just tell, tell me a little bit about yourself? And then how did you hear about Bookkeeping for Painters?
My name is Ryan Anderson. I operate Alliance Painting out of Fort Worth, Texas. We've been in business for 8 years, and I have— I'm married, have a baby family, two daughters. They are 11 years old and 9 years old. And we have a dog. His name is Bandit. He's like 7 years old. And we just moved into a brand new house we had built. And we're really excited about that. And some of the things we like to do for fun, I love to play pickleball. I've been playing it for about 6 months now and I'm addicted to it. I love it. And it helps me stay competitive, like has an element of competitiveness, which I love. So I can stay healthy and exercise, but also fulfill that competitive spirit I have. Honestly, I don't remember how I originally heard about you, Daniel. We've been working together for so long since what, 2015? So maybe 7 years. And I think I just maybe, maybe heard about you in Steve Burnett's VIV Group possibly is where I think I heard you actually, when I think about it. Um, and we've had a good working relationship ever since.
Yeah. Um, I know it's been a while, but did you, do you remember initially being skeptical of signing up or, um, and if you were skeptical at first, why did you end up doing it anyway?
Um, I don't remember being skeptical at all. I mean, I was pretty comfortable. Cool.
What was the state of your bookkeeping accounting kind of experience before you worked with Bookkeeping for Painters? What was kind of the state?
Yeah, I was working with a QuickBooks Pro and the, the, the, The schedule of, you know, when my books had actually reconciled and where I can go in and see how we were performing was not predictable at all. I had no idea when she was going to go in there. So I really didn't. And sometimes it was just like once a month. So I didn't know where we stood a lot of the times. So, and she would just do whatever she could basically, and it didn't really work. For me. So I wanted something that was more predictable and on a schedule where I knew if I looked every 2 weeks or every week or whatever the case may be, that I could safely say that the numbers were accurate.
Awesome.
Yeah.
And, uh, since you've signed up with Bookkeeping for Painters, what specific results have you seen or what results have you gotten?
As far as like business, like growth and stuff, or—
yeah, like anything that you can attribute to that change in going with QuickBooks for Painters, whether it be freeing up time or your ability to make decisions to get to the next level or tax savings or whatever you results that you've kind of seen on your end since you've switched over to Bookkeeping for Painters?
Well, I mean, we— the information is definitely more timely, so I know, I know when we're in trouble, which doesn't really happen, but I know when we're doing well. And it does help me make decisions with marketing and those types of things, so I can attribute that to to you guys. I also do a lot of stuff on the side where I track things a little bit differently, which helps me make decisions as well. And, uh, we do job costing outside of anything you guys control. So I mean, that's really the, the gist, like the most important thing for me is job costing. Um, but yeah, I just say that the, the predictability and reliability of the numbers has definitely helped us scale our company. Awesome.
Who would you recommend us to?
I would definitely recommend you guys to owner operators that— I mean, you can be recommended to lots of different folks. I mean, we have a $3 million company. When I started with you guys, we probably had a million dollar company or less. Maybe $750K annual revenue, and I was an owner-operator. I was doing everything but painting. And that's a great solution for folks in that situation. It was for me because I didn't have to worry about the books, right? I knew they were being handled in the background and it took that off my plate. And it was also less expensive than hiring a person to do it, you know, putting that person on your payroll. So I think it works for that role, I think, or in that situation. I think it works in my situation currently where I'm not in the field at all and we're doing $3 million a year and you're still in the background doing things. It still frees my mind up to focus on other things that generate revenue and money. And that's where I like to focus. I don't want to focus on low, like I want, I don't want to focus on non revenue-generating activities. So anyone that has that mindset, that's who your customer is. Anyone that doesn't want to get in the weeds of, you know, debits and credits, really, is my opinion.
Awesome.
And obviously painting companies.
That's right. Awesome. I thank you. I appreciate it, Ryan. Thank you for your time. Um,
