Originality comes from how you think, not talent. Consume unconventional sources across disciplines, make space for free-floating thought through walks and silence, and live first by saying yes to new experiences. These habits naturally generate original work.

Every idea you've had, it's probably been done before. So how do you create something original? Behind me are 3 ways to think differently. It's not about talent, it's about how you think. First, consume differently. If you only read, watch, and listen to what everyone else does, you'll think just like them. So seek out unconventional ideas, obscure books, and perspectives outside your field. Second, make space to think. If your mind is always flooded with noise, it never has time to process. Dr. Nancy Andreessen, author of The Creative Brain, says creativity thrives during free-floating thought. Einstein did it, so can you. So take a walk, sit in silence, let your mind wander. Third, live first, create later. Your best ideas don't come from sitting at a screen, they come from real experience. Say yes more, do things that scare you, give yourself stories worth telling. The key to originality? Stop chasing it, start living it.
