Dan Pink outlines two questions entrepreneurs should ask: would anyone outside the company care if the business disappeared today, and would someone create it if it didn't exist. He argues that offerings must be remarkable, urgent, and singular because barriers to entry are low.
Dan, as someone who's written several blockbuster books about business, what are questions entrepreneurs should be asking themselves today?
There are 2 really key questions that entrepreneurs should be asking themselves. Number one, if your business went under today, if it just disappeared, would anybody who doesn't work there care? Would people complain? That's a sign of how much value you're delivering. Number 2, if your business didn't exist, would someone create it? That's also a sign of the viability of your idea. Today, there's so few barriers to entry that what you have to offer has to be remarkable and urgent and singular, or otherwise it's not gonna work.
