Jaywalkers cross illegally because waiting at lights feels endless and boring. A virtual tug-of-war game on street screens lets pedestrians on opposite curbs compete by tapping, turning the wait into a race that makes the time pass faster and keeps them from crossing early.
Jaywalking. We've all done it, but not all of us get away with it. So how can we get people to obey the law and wait for the light before they cross the street? If we're waiting and don't have anything to do, the wait seems forever. The minutes just drag on. I've got a plan. It's a game of virtual tug-of-war. The people on this side of the street compete against people waiting on the other side of the street. The goal is to beat the other person. Tap before the light changes. The faster you tap, the closer the knot moves to your side.
