Fastest Wins in Credit Repair: 7 Things You Can Delete In DAYS

In this episode of Credit Repair Business Secrets, host Daniel Rosen outlines the seven credit‑report items that can be removed the fastest, ranking them by typical deletion speed. He explains why speed matters for client retention and business growth, then walks through each item—duplicate accounts, incorrect personal information (including mixed files), closed accounts with wrong statuses, utility/cable/telecom collections, small junk‑debt‑buyer collections, medical collections under new CFPB rules, and unauthorized hard inquiries—detailing the legal basis (FCRA, CFPB), the evidence needed, and the typical dispute timeline (3‑30 days). Rosen emphasizes using precise dispute letters (templates available at creditrepaircloud.com) and provides practical scripts for phone disputes. The episode also promotes the Credit Repair Expo, Credit Repair Cloud software, the Start Repairing Credit Challenge, and an interview with Joe Malo, positioning these resources as ways to scale a credit‑repair business.

So today I'm breaking down the seven fastest things that you can delete from a credit report, ranked by speed. Speed. So you'll know exactly what to go after first. So you better stick around. My name is Daniel Rosen and welcome to Credit Repair Business Secrets. If this is your first time listening to my podcast, welcome. I'm Daniel Rosen. Over the last two decades in our software, I have tracked millions of disputes. Some items fall off like dominoes and others are stubborn as a mule. But here's the thing to remember. Speed matters. It matters for client retention and business growth. When clients see items disappearing quickly, they trust the process and they stay enrolled longer. So let's dive into this ranking. Give me a drum roll. Here are the seven fastest things that you can delete from a credit report. Number seven Duplicate accounts. Duplicate accounts are some of the fastest deletions that you'll ever see. The Fair Credit Reporting act requires that all information on a credit report be accurate and not misleading. And a duplicate item automatically violates both of those. It's when the same debt shows up on the credit report multiple times. Maybe the original creditor is reporting it and then a collection agency is also reporting that exact same debt. Or. Or it's listed twice with slight variations in the name or the account number. And this stuff happens all the time. So when you dispute a duplicate, you are demanding that they fix a clear violation of federal law. So send your dispute with evidence and then watch it vanish in as little as seven days. This is the real low hanging fruit, so always scan for duplicates first. Number six Incorrect personal information. Okay, this one flies under the radar, but it is pure gold for fast deletions. Incorrect personal information includes wrong names, misspelled names, addresses you never Lived at Social Security number variations or employers that you've never worked for. So always look for those first. Why do these delete so fast? Because identity mismatches trigger automated corrections in the Bureau's systems. They can verify your information instantly. But here's what most people don't realize. Incorrect personal information can also mean that someone else's credit history is being mixed with yours. That's called a mixed file. Sometimes this happens if you have a similar name to your parent or to your child. And it also happens if you have the very same name, but one of you is junior and one of you is senior. And this happens all the time. How do you fix it? Well, you send a letter to each credit bureau and you want to include supporting documentation like a photo of your driver's license, Social Security card, and a recent utility bill, because that's your proof of address. And then in your letter, clearly state that any personal information on your credit report that does not match this documentation is inaccurate and must be corrected or removed. And these corrections, they happen really fast. They can happen in as little as 10 days, giving you a rock solid foundation for disputing the negative accounts. And here's the bonus that most people never see coming. When incorrect personal information gets corrected. Negative accounts that are tied to the outdated information, they often fall off automatically with no extra disputes and no extra letters. Number five. Closed accounts reporting incorrect statuses. This is one of my favorite strategies because these errors are everywhere. Here's what happens. Accounts get closed, paid off or settled, but the furnisher never updates the status correctly. So you'll see accounts that are closed but are still reporting as past due and settled. Accounts still showing as charged off. Or accounts with a zero balance reporting late payments long after they were closed or settled. Why do these deletes matter? Because furnishers rarely maintain complete up to date records on accounts that they consider to be finished. When you dispute a specific status error on a closed account, they very often cannot verify the accuracy of that reporting. So scrutinize every single closed account on your credit report. And if an account shows a balance or a delinquency after it was closed or settled, you found your opening. Say this account is reporting as past due, however it was closed and and shows a zero balance as of and then insert the date this status is inaccurate and it must be corrected or removed. And when done correctly, these errors often come off in 15 to 30 days. Number four. Utility, cable and telecom collections. Now we're getting into the really vulnerable collections. Here is an insider secret The CFPB has acknowledged that utility, cable and telecom companies generally don't report monthly payment history while the accounts are active. And the reporting usually starts only after the account goes to collections. So when one of these shows up with a collector, they often have very limited documentation. No itemized bills, no full service history, and weak identity matching. Send a debt validation letter demanding proof. Proof of service, dates, itemized charges, identity match and balance calculation. Many times they cannot validate it and I've seen these disappear in as little as 10 days. Number three small junk debt buyer collections. Junk debt buyers are bottom feeders that buy massive portfolios of old debts for pennies on the $50, $200 $500amounts that the original creditor wrote off. These buyers are banking on people not knowing their rights or just paying up. But here's the thing, they often lack sufficient documentation to even validate the debt. They're just hoping that you won't challenge them. So when you send a proper debt validation letter, you are calling their bluff. You are demanding that they prove that the debt is yours, that the amount is correct, and that they have a legal right to collect. And nine times out of 10 they can't complete verification. So be persistent and if they don't respond in 30 days, then file CFPB complaints. And I've personally seen these vanish in as little as seven days. Number two Medical collections under the newest reporting rules. This is one of the most powerful changes in credit repair history. Medical collections used to be brutal, but reporting standards have changed dramatically under CFPB enforcement pressure. And the collectors now know that they're operating in a high risk zone. So here's what matters. Paid medical collections must be removed. Medical debt under $500 cannot be reported at all. And unpaid medical bills cannot appear on your credit report for at least 12 months, giving you time to resolve insurance issues. And here are some very easy slam dunks. Paid medical bill, it must be removed once the payment is reported. Got a medical bill under $500 that shouldn't be reported at all. Got an insurance dispute? Well if the amount isn't final then it shouldn't be reporting. Is it missing the explanation of benefits from the insurance company? Well then that means there is no proof what was covered, what was denied, or what you actually owe. And when they can't prove that the bill is accurate, then they cannot keep reporting it. So send your dispute and reference the CFPB rules and demand compliance proof. Medical collections can disappear in as little as five days because the collectors don't don't want the CFPB penalties, so hold their feet to the fire. And now for the absolute fastest deletion of all. Drumroll, please. Unauthorized hard inquiries. These are the fastest deletions you can get. Hard inquiries are one of the most underestimated negative items, and they are also one of the easiest to remove. You know exactly what to look for. Here's the key. A hard inquiry requires a permissible purpose. If you didn't apply, if you didn't give consent, or if the company can't prove authorization, then that inquiry does not belong on your credit report. So check your report for inquiries that you don't recognize, companies you never applied with, auto dealers that ran your credit multiple times, or any pools that go beyond what you authorized. And then dispute those directly with the credit bureaus and clearly state that you never authorized the inquiry. And if the company can't verify the permissible purpose, then the inquiry must be removed. And here's the fastest way to do it. You don't have to send a letter. You can often do this by phone. Use a script like this. Hi, I'm calling to dispute a hard inquiry that I did not authorize, I didn't apply with this company, and there is no permissible purpose. So if the authorization cannot be verified, I am requesting removal. And if they push back, just say, well, then I want to dispute the authorization. Please verify permissible purpose. Those are the magic words. And by this method, I've seen unauthorized inquiries disappear in as little as three days and sometimes even faster. It's one of the quickest wins in credit repair, and it can boost your credit score almost immediately. But one word of caution. Be sure that you don't dispute any inquiries that are tied to an open account. Otherwise you may lose that open account and that would hurt your score. Okay, but always go for the easiest, fastest wins first. When your clients see items deleted in two weeks, they trust you more and they stick around for the longer battles. Even the fastest deletions require proper documentation. And good dispute letters do not send generic disputes. And you can get my proven dispute letter templates for free at creditrepaircloud.com dispute letter templates and again, I'm going to put that link down there in the show notes, so just go there to download the letters.
