Hey Credit Heroes. Building credit can be a long and hard process and sometimes it helps to have a little boost. The good news is there are some great tools and products available that can help you to build your credit, and a few that you need to steer clear of. On today's podcast, I'm going to rank the top six credit boosters to help you decide if you need a little help. So you better stick around. My name is Daniel Rosen and welcome to Credit Repair Business secrets. In the 20 years since releasing my first credit repair software, I've helped thousands of businesses scale from the ground up and I experienced many of the same challenges that credit heroes face and I learned proven ways to overcome them and succeed. And one thing I've learned is that we could all use a little help with our credit sometimes, and some more than others. Credit builder products are designed to help the people who need it the most and they can be a really powerful tool to use alongside credit repair. While you're working on removing those negatives, credit boosters can help you to add positives, which tells lenders hey, I'm credit worthy. It's like giving your credit a 2 for 1 boost on the way to healthier scores and greater financial freedom. Here's a thing to remember, not all credit builders are created equal. Some come with hidden fees, membership costs or restrictions that can drain your wallet or slow down your credit goals. And another heads up, pay close attention to how each product impacts your credit score because some tools might only affect one bureau, which means those gains won't show up across all your credit reports. Here is what you need to know. I'm going to break down the top six credit boosters, ranking them from top to low tier so that you can choose the one that best fits your needs. First up is Experian Boost. Experian Boost is a free credit building tool that allows users to incorporate their regular bill payments for things like utilities, phone bills and streaming services into their Experian credit report. It might be surprising, but none of these are included in traditional credit scoring systems. This can provide an immediate boost to your credit score, but since this is specifically an Experian product, the improved credit score only appears on your Experian credit report, hence the Experian Boost part. Still, Experian Boost is great for people with limited or no credit history who make regular on time payments and want to see a quick score boost without taking on debt. ExperianBoost is completely free with no hidden fees or membership costs. It does not require a hard inquiry credit check, meaning it won't negatively impact your credit score when you sign up, so I'm going to place Experian Boost in the top tier. I want to talk about Chime next Chime has gained a lot of traction lately thanks to a strong marketing push. Chime offers a secured credit card designed to help users build their credit score through regular on time payments which are reported to all three major credit bureaus. Instead of requiring a set security deposit, you your spending limit is based on the money you transfer into your account and this feature is great for limiting debt and keeping your finances in control. Chime's Credit Builder card comes with no annual fees, no interest or late fees and there is no hard inquiry when you apply. But you'll need a Chime spending account and direct deposit and it doesn't offer cash back or rewards. While that might not matter as much when you're digging yourself out of debt, it's not a great long term strategy and it definitely won't help you get ahead. So I'm going to rank Chime as mid tier. Next up is moneylion. Moneylion's Credit Builder plus is a membership based program that offers credit building loans with a twist, you can access a portion of the loan up front which can be helpful for emergencies. Like other credit builder loans, the payments are reported to all three bureaus, helping you to improve your credit score. MoneyLion does charge a monthly fee for the service, so it might not be the best choice if you're looking for a low cost solution, but they don't have a hard inquiry to sign up and they can be helpful if you need immediate funds while working on your credit. Just be careful of those monthly fees and because of that I'm ranking Money lion as low tier and next we're going to take a look at Credit Strong. Creditstrong offers a credit builder loan program that allows users to make monthly payments towards a savings account which are then reported as loan payments to all three major credit bureaus, helping you to build credit across the board. Once the loan is paid off, the money becomes available. Credit Strong does charge setup fees and interest, which means you'll receive less money than you paid in once the loan term ends. But signing up does not require a hard inquiry, so signing up won't harm your credit score. Credit Strong's loan amounts range from $1,000 to $10,000. The terms range from one year to 10 years, so it can be a bit of a time commitment if you need to withdraw your savings early. Creditstrong won't charge you a penalty but you will forfeit interest. While the contributions to a savings account can be really helpful for your financial future, the fees and interest are a definite tradeoff. So for that reason, I'm ranking credit strong as mid tier. Next on our list is Kickoff. Kickoff provides a unique credit building option with a $500 line of credit, but there's a twist it can only be used to purchase digital products from Kickoff's online store. This limitation may seem restrictive, but it's a low cost way to build positive payment history without the risk of accumulating traditional credit card debt. Monthly payments are reported to the three major credit bureaus, helping users build credit without taking on much financial risk. While this can be great for beginners, this isn't ideal for everyone and because of that, I'm putting Kickoff in the low tier. And finally, let's take a look at Self Self Credit Builder Account is a credit builder loan designed to help people improve their credit score while building a small savings fund. Users make regular monthly payments towards the loan which is deposited into a cd. The payments are reported to all three major credit bureaus and helping you to establish a positive payment history. Once the loan is paid off, the user gets access to the funds, so you're building credit while growing a savings account. Self charges both a setup fee of around $9 and interest so you'll get back slightly less than what you paid in. Self is available to anyone regardless of their credit score and it does not require a hard inquiry so it won't lower your credit score when you sign up. The monthly payments range from $25 to $150 per month with terms from 12 to 14 months. Plus after three months of successful payments, you can qualify for Self's secured credit card, which can also help you to build credit. Because of the reasonable fees and the option to add a secured credit card, I'm ranking Self as top tier now.
