Brian Van Devan from Continuum Analytics introduces a Python data visualization course that builds on basic Matplotlib skills. You'll learn advanced techniques like overlaying plots, 2-D histograms, Seaborn for statistical graphics, and time-series visualization. By the end, you'll create sophisticated graphics in just a few lines of code.
Chapters
Welcome to Introduction to Data Visualization with Python. My name is Brian Van Devan. I'm a software engineer at Continuum analytics and a contributor to several open source Python projects. In the Intermediate Python for Data Science course, you learned some rudimentary techniques to make quick data visualizations using matplotlib, the foremost scientific visualization and plotting library for Python. For instance, you learned how to make ordinary line plots, scatter plots, and histograms. You also learned some basic techniques to customize plots. In this course, you'll extend your base knowledge of matplotlib to customize your visualizations and overlay multiple plots together. You'll see how to visualize two dimensional data sets, two dimensional histograms, and functions of two variables. You'll push your data visualization skills further with the Seaborn package for producing statistical graphics. You'll learn also how to plot time series and to work with images. Here are some example graphics you'll be able to produce after this course with a few short lines of Interacting with matplotlib or Seaborn. We'll see you in the course.
