Mikey tells the story of Jonah using sound effects and modern language for kids. Jonah tries to escape God's command to go to Nineveh, gets swallowed by a fish, prays for three days, and finally obeys. The lesson: when someone in authority tells you to do something, listen, because good things happen when you do.

Hello? Hey everyone! Hi! Hello! How are you all doing? That's good to hear. Now today I get the privilege of telling you all a very, very exciting story. Cool! And this story is a Bible story about a man you've probably heard of. His name is Jonah. I know! Shh! Be very quiet and listen carefully. Alright, now, once there was a man named Jonah, a prophet of God, and he was having his morning cornflakes, and he really liked his morning cornflakes, and God called out to him and said, Jonah! Looked around, said, "Yes, God?" And God replied to him, "Jonah, I need you to go to the town of Nineveh. There are very bad people there, and you need to make them stop doing bad things because I'm not very happy, and they're probably going to die if they don't stop." And Jonah got very sad because he doesn't— he doesn't want them to die, but also he doesn't want to go because the people in Nineveh are very scary. No one liked the people in Nineveh. No one liked the people in Nineveh. They were very scary. So he, you know, he turned down the offer as such. He decided he would go to the furthest place away he could think of. He would go to Tarsus, which he heard was a pretty good place too. So he found a boat. That was going to leave that very hour. And so he went onto the boat and he crawled into the smallest place he could find at the bottom of the deck, be as far away as possible, fell asleep. When he woke up, he wasn't happy to what he woke up to because there was rain, lots and lots of rain all over the place. It was bucketing. There was thunder, lightning. The ship was turning and tossing. He could barely stand upright. So he went up deck and the crewmen were tossing things off board to try and make the ship lighter because they were worried they were going to sink. Bailing water off board. And Jonah said, "What's happening?" They said, "The ship's going to sink. We don't know what to do." And Jonah thought about it. And he think— he thought he knew what to do. Looked into the water, very cold, looks very cold water, could be sharks. But he knew he had to do it, so he said, I know what you can do. Before I came here onto this boat, I was told to go to Nineveh by God, and I didn't do it because I didn't want to because he's scary. Because the Ninevites are scary. So I kind of went on this boat to Tarsus. So I think though, if you throw me off the boat, everything will be okay and the storm will stop and you won't die. So they said, okay. One guy on each arm, they threw him off the boat, ploof, into the water. And as he sunk, he looked up and he noticed The clouds were parting, the thunder was stopping, the sun was shining, and the rain had stopped, and the crew cheered. He, on the other hand, underwater, cold, thought he saw a shark. It's coming closer and closer and closer. As it got closer, he noticed how big it was. It was a giant whale. It swallowed him. So he was stuck in the belly of a whale all alone with no one else there. But he was very happy that he didn't die though. So he prayed to God. He said, "Thank you, God. Thank you for keeping me safe. Amen." And he prayed for a long time too. He was in that belly of that fish for 3 days and 3 3 nights. And then on that 4th day, what happened was the belly of the fish started to grumble a bit. Oh no, what's gonna happen? And he's out of the front of the fish and spewed onto the shore, onto dry land. Well, not so dry anymore, but he was on the shore nonetheless, and he was very happy. And when he looked over the horizon, guess what he could see? The city of Nineveh. Still didn't really want to go, but he knew he had to now. And end of the story, he goes and he finds the Ninevites. He tells them what they've done wrong, and they stop doing wrong, and they're all saved. None of them die, and they all have a very happy life. Now, I think the point of this story is a very important one. Just all you remember, okay? When God or someone very important in your life tells you to do something, keep in mind that it might be a good idea to do it because the results can be very beneficial. Just think of all the people Jonah saved by going to Nineveh and telling them they were doing some wrong things. Anyway, thank you all for listening and have a wonderful day.
