Hi, I'm Dave Edgren, author of The Serpent's Scroll, a Bible study book for children in upper primary school. I've asked the Year 5 class from Nunawading Christian Primary School in Melbourne, Australia to tell you a bit about their experience with The Serpent's Scroll. What are you here to talk about today?
About the book.
What book's that?
Uh, the Serpent's Scroll book that you wrote.
Oh, okay. What was your favorite part of the book?
Well, I like the first bit where he first opened the Bible and he put his finger on the red word and he got a big surprise. That's my favourite bit.
I liked it when they're at the moon and then the dragon's trying to get the baby, but then the hand comes out of the heavens and then takes it up. My favourite part was when they realised that the dragon could see them and he started coming towards them. And I really enjoyed the last part about the dragon and the baby because we could relate it to what's happening now and how Satan is after us.
What was your favourite thing that you did in class after reading the book?
Working together as a group with the classmates. I enjoyed working together with the other people. And you got to know how other people think about different questions and how you would think completely different to them.
Every morning for like about— how long would we do it for? 2 months. No, 1 month.
Yeah, 2.
1.
Yeah, we'd open it up and then we'd just study it for about an hour, 45 minutes, and in little groups of about 6.
And we'd read it through and it was really good.
If you had a copy of the book in your hands, what would you want to do with it?
Read it. Definitely read it.
What about who would you like to give it to?
Myself. No, my cousins or someone who doesn't believe in Jesus. Probably my little brothers and sisters because I haven't really learned much about the Bible yet.
I would give it to my mom— my cousin on my mom's side of the family, Jamerlie, because she's not Christian and she's a teenage— well, she's becoming a teenager, and I think it would be really great if she became a Christian.
Hi, Pastor Dave here again. I couldn't have scripted that any better. Those kids modeled exactly why I wrote The Serpent's Scroll. The Serpent Scroll is a book to help kids get excited about the Bible, to see that Jesus is their friend, that they can interact with him, and that they can find his will and his purpose for their life in the stories of the Bible. Get a hold of The Serpent Scroll today and let it speak to you.
