Hey there and welcome back. And we're going to talk today about an important question, and that is this. It says, how can I tell if my testosterone is too low? Yeah, you can relate to that, right?
This isn't just men, by the way. Women have testosterone too. Obviously not as much. You know, women have more estrogen. Estrogen. But both men and women have testosterone. It is the primary hormone in the production and sustaining of sex drive for both men and women. And it also is something that gives you energy and mood and endurance and strength. And there's a lot of good things that come from testosterone. And if that gets too low, it can affect your mood, your mental health, your sex drive, your sex function, like all kinds of things. And with time, most people will see a significant dip in their testosterone. And many people, if not most at some point will get below the healthy level for their age. But it's very treatable, right? Like I'm on testosterone right now and it has been a game changer in my strength, my endurance, my mental clarity, my sex drive, my just kind of overall mood. It's been great. So, yeah, I'm for it. So how do you tell. I would say start. You start by just looking at kind of your overall, your mood, your energy level, your sex drive, all of those things. And if they feel like there's a dip in them, like it's gotten maybe more significant over time, some of that is natural. But like, if there's a, if you want to improve in those areas, I would get your blood tested. I would get specifically go to a health care provider that specializes in kind of hormone treatments. That's like a holistic doctor. Or you can just go to your general practitioner and say, listen, I'm worried about my testosterone levels. I think that I might need some supplements or a prescription here. And so would you run some blood tests, looking at everything? I think getting a full spectrum blood work done regularly, looking at all of it is important.
It is important.
It's something that I've started doing, and it just kind of helps me keep my thumb on the pulse of things. But ask specifically for testosterone, because they won't always test for that in their regular tests. Right. So ask for it, and then they'll let you know. Like, it's real, real clear at that point. Here are the numbers. You know, here's the normal range. Here are the numbers. You're on, like, the lowest end of the normal range, or maybe you're below the normal range. And you could say, well, I would really like to get. Get some treatment. And there. There are places that will help you. You can get bioidentical pellets that they kind of. They put in. They kind of, like, cut a little slit and put in. Ashley's had those before.
Yeah.
And she was just.
Well, I was in my 30s when.
I know. But she got on those things, I'm telling you.
Raised my libido for sure.
Blew my mind.
But I'm telling you, my mood was kind of lacking. Like, I just was. I was a little moodier than usual. I felt like my energy was low, my sex drive was lower, and I just. I just didn't feel like myself. And when I got the test, she was like, yeah, you could use, you know, more testosterone. And it did help me. And I would do it again, like, if I needed to do it again. And the same with Dave. Like, I. And I would say to ask your spouse, because I remember telling you I'm, like, your mood. Like, you don't realize how moody you are these days.
Well, and, I mean, mine was twofold. I'm actually on an antidepressant, like a generic form of Zoloft thyroid medication, because I think my thyroid falling apart was at the root of, like, all the rest of us.
That's what started all this.
And then. And testosterone. So, I mean, I'm being held together with duct tape. But, like, all that together, like, it finally found a combination where I really do feel good again. I went through a long period where I just felt bad. I was moody, depressed, the energy was lower, no enthusiasm for anything. And so, yeah, I'm thankful. I'm thankful for Jesus, and I'm thankful for Ashley, and I'm thankful for medication. And the combination of those three, I think, really pulled me out of it. So. We're not doctors. Listen, don't take our medical advice other than to say to you, go get medical advice. Go talk to a professional. There are so many resources out there, and I'm so thankful that we, you know, we found some that worked for us, and I think that it could work for you, too. So great question. Thanks for writing in.
