Two extraordinary people, and we are so honored and excited to have them here on the Naked Marriage podcast. So, Kody and Brandi, welcome, welcome.
Thank you very much for having us.
Yeah. Well, before we dive in, we wanna hear more about your life and specifically about kind of the healthy. We could learn from you guys because you guys are pillars in health in so many ways, and we could all learn from that. But tell us a little bit about your love story. Like what first drew you to each other? Take us back to the beginning of that love story.
Yes, I'm going to go ahead and qualify the whole thing with the origin story of the relationship is different depending on who you ask. And I have tried over the last few years because I tell the story a lot to really tell the true version of the story. And the truest version, I could tell the initial contact, like first contact, if you're a Star Trek fan. And we just celebrated First Contact Day. But anyway, the first contact was I.
Had heard of her.
I had even had conversations about her. I had seen her at a distance. The first true contact was we were going by each other in the hall backstage at a WWE television taping. And she was the closest she had ever been to me. And that's where I noticed she had the most beautiful eyes, just hands down, in all of the cosmos. However, as attractive as that was, the Hairdresser, who WWE employed at the time, had massively given her, like, a classic white blonde lady, Texas haircut, Like, very, very big. And I genuinely, in the sense of feeling like I was a veteran in the industry and wanted to help her. I told her, hey, well, you can't go out there like that. And that is the initial contact. Now, everything else, that's great. It's a bit foggy. But of course, there was an element of flirtation in that, what I told her. But also very much functionally minted, like, please fix your hair. You will regret it. And then really a real hard pursuit of me. And I said no. I said no. And then, you know, one dinner, and then it just.
Oh, no.
I couldn't resist.
This is where things get really foggy. I definitely say, I'll agree with the first contact story. That was one of my very first times on live television and in front of a live crowd like that. So had a lot of trust in the makeup team. So I didn't look in a mirror. I just went, we're done. We're good. I'm gonna go. And he did tell me that in the hallway, and I was mortified. So I raced back to the locker room and started furiously trying to fix my hair. And one of the girls in the locker room happens to be his ex girlfriend. And she said, what are you doing? You have to go soon. And I was like, I know, I know my hair's messed up. It's just messed up. I can't go out there like that. And she goes, your hair's fine. She said, who told you your hair is messed up? And I said, cody Rhodes. And she said, he just likes you. Trust me, I would know he likes you. She's like, your hair's fine. Go on out there. Then after that, after getting. I mean, once the ex girlfriend tells you, hey, green light, this guy likes you, and he's a nice guy. Yeah, I took her advice for it. So he pursued me. It wasn't a. Wasn't a vice versa situation.
I will say whether I pursued her or she pursued me. History. It's all very foggy. Air Canada center parking lot. I had just come off a pretty good show. I was excited. She had done well herself. And there had been some conversations and text messaging, and there was clearly a courtship rolling forward. But I went to give her a hug to say goodnight, and I gave a hug to her friend as well, because I thought it'd be weird if I just hug her and then I shake this other girl's hand. So I gave this girl a hug, and then I went to give Brandy a hug, and she blew in my ear. And it was very much like, all right, we get it.
You know.
We get it. But that all sincerely happened.
I honestly think I was just breathing.
I don't think. But maybe it's what I wanted, right? Maybe. Maybe that's it. Because I really was actively interested, and I had dated in the business, and that's how much I knew, like, well, she's the one. Because I didn't want her in the business. I didn't. Oh, my. It can't be another cohabitation of people on the road. This is a real thing that I had with her and still going. So I was right.
We are having a baby.
And how long have you guys been married?
It's almost eight years. Oh, my God. Eight years in the fall.
Yeah, we've been together. I think we're just hitting 10, right?
Oh, awesome.
Close to 10.
Yeah. Close to a decade.
That's a big deal.
It's a real big deal. And congratulations on your first child. I was half joking, but mostly serious before I said it. Really? Is knowing you two going to be the most beautiful baby in the history of babies?
Yes.
But even beyond having an obviously beautiful baby, what are you guys doing right now to just kind of prepare yourselves for parenthood? Because that's a huge change, a huge transition.
Personally, I think we're doing a terrible job because we decided to get a puppy, like, as soon as I found.
Out that's what we're doing. Ray. I'm going to show you guys a.
Picture that has proven to be quite an idea because he's small and fast, and I can't catch him with my belly and everything.
Oh, my goodness.
That is Yeti Pinkerton.
What a cutie. Those of you who are listening and not watching on YouTube, they have the cutest little pup. And what kind of dog is that?
He's a Pomeranian.
A Pomeranian. Oh, my gosh. And he's so cute.
He is precious.
Yes. But let me tell you, a puppy, you know, it is kind of a training for parenthood as far as the responsibility and, like you said, chasing around. So, hey, I mean, that is some. It's a lot, but it's hard being pregnant doing that and all the.
I think we're definitely getting an F in regards to. I mean, people aren't gonna perhaps like, hearing this, but Pete the handyman set the crib up. I didn't even set the crib up.
Hey, that's all right.
The dog is running around like Brandi's. I feel like Brandi, honestly is doing a really great job. Every day something new comes in that she explains to me, this is for this, this is for that. And I keep saying, like, well, when we get near the, you know, delivery, then we'll get that declutter, then we'll get that baby proof. And I'm going to end up getting too close to the finish line and then imploding into myself and the poor dogs. I don't know what. But yeah, I'm going to get there. I'm going to. I got a list. That's the start. Yeah, I got a list.
That's good.
And, you know, start checking it off real soon, the list.
Nothing has been checked off of the list except for the stuff that I decided to just go ahead and do.
I safety proofed the crib. All right.
I feel bad about not being able to build a crib. I'm the least handy person. Ashley's dad can build anything. She thought all men were that way. I'm terrible. So, like, you can do it.
You just don't love it, you know? And so it's like, why put yourself through the torture?
Yeah, it's not a pretty sight. But I'm so thrilled for you guys. You're going to be amazing parents. We're gonna dive in just a second to talk about health. That's kind of the series we're in, but I'd love also, you know, we're gonna have an episode soon talking about people that have to work on their marriage when sometimes they're working in different places or when they're both working and they're keeping busy lifestyles. And that's something that you guys have done really from the beginning. You know, you've had to develop your relationship where you're both in the spotlight, which is a unique, you know, unique dimension in itself. And then you're both super busy. And so for people who are listening and maybe they can't relate so much to the spotlight part nearly on the scale that you guys can, but for the busy part, they can relate to. And so what are some of the things you guys do to prioritize your relationship in the midst of just keeping these, like, really, really busy lives and careers. So any. Any tips you'd share?
It's been really challenging being pregnant and trying to still keep everything dating and all of that stuff, because a lot of times I just don't feel good. So we've come off the road and I'M still flying back and forth every other week to Jacksonville for work with him, and I'm just so tired. So a lot of times we plan date nights or like, okay, Saturday is us. We're going to go do this and then watch movies, and then Saturday rolls around, and I feel sick, so I can't do it. So I feel like I'm slipping in that area right now. So I'm hopeful that once the baby's born and I'm feeling like myself again, we can go back to our weekly dates and things like that. But we actually. We have a lot of fun working together. That's one of the good things, is we work together, but we're not in each other's stuff. So, you know, like, he's working on his things on the show, I'm working on my things on the show. So it's kind of fun to just, you know, spend time together. Like, we're in our locker room right now and, you know, just have this time in this space where we can talk about different things and kind of compare notes and let each other know, you know, the different things we're working on. I feel like when we go. When I go to have the baby and I'll obviously not be able to travel for a little bit, I'm definitely going to miss that a lot, like, being able to see him all the time and, like, have him there to bounce ideas off of and talk to and joke with.
Yeah, I. I was just going to say. And maybe it was just a discovery, which I came up, like, today. I feel like I discovered this today, but I'm very punctual. And today was the first time I said, you know, I am punctual, and I will be on time for the things that are required of me. But there is an area where I will be late, and it's if Brandi needs me.
Yeah.
And I was having a conversation with her today, and I was like, you know, these things that I have to get to are all a lot of my workload. I've created my workload so I can move it. I can push this back, because there's. There's currently nothing more important than her. And I don't. You can verbalize that all day long, but until you, like, put your, you know, money where your mouth is, in this case today, I thought, you know what? I can be late. I can wait. She has something she wants to yell at me about. Have at it. I'm listening and fully attentive. That's another big thing that I'M proud of. We've become much more attentive to each other. No looking at the phones, looking at each other very much look at each other and converse. And I like that a lot.
That's huge. And you know, with your relationship specifically, it's really cool how you all get each other's world. You know, you get what the other is doing. And then having that, like you said, Brandi, you come back together and you talk about it. And that's so key. And being able to say, like, everything else can wait. But this is important. You know, my wife and this child that's along the way is more important than all these other things. These other things are important. It's not saying they're not, but this is more important. I love that. And I think so many couples listening, that's a constant struggle for them because they feel like if I don't do this thing, then I'm not gonna get this other opportunity or maybe I'm not gonna have that money or put food on the table or whatever it is. But, you know, whenever we do prioritize our family, it's like everything else seems to fall in line and because you just don't wanna ever. I think it's easy and with kids too. And you guys will see this, sometimes it's even easy to do this with our children. We'll put our marriage on hold while we're raising our kids. But even, you know, once you have that baby, I already hear Brandi saying, I can't wait to start, you know, having that date night again where I'm feeling better. I love hearing you guys say that because so many couples forget to do that once they have kids. And that's when you need it more than ever. I mean, I remember two weeks after we had our first son, our oldest, we have four. Our oldest son is 16 now, almost. Well, he'll be 16 by the time this airs. And, you know, I remember two weeks after he was born, my mother in law showed up on our doorstep and she was like, hey, I'm here to watch, you know, Cooper for like two hours. You guys go out, go have fun. And I was like, kind of jarred. You know, I'm nursing this baby. I feel, you know, I'm not feeling like beautiful for a date night or anything, but I'm thinking, man, I really want this time with my husband. But I had this mixture of emotions and I'm so grateful for that time. But I remember we went to Applebee's. I don't even know if they really exist anymore. But back then, Applebee's was the place. And so we go to Applebee's, and I had a hard time. Right, sweetie?
Oh, yeah. She cried.
My emotions were all over the place.
She cried for the first 20 minutes.
I did.
I did.
And I'm like, I feel amazing. I'm like, we're out. Cause we've been at the house two weeks straight, and I'm like, we're out. Let's live it up. And she's crying, and I didn't know how to deal with that. I'm like, should I like, what's happening? Or I didn't know what to do. And it was just one of those many, many times. And I think every marriage has many of these moments where you just. You have to kind of learn each other and realize, okay, things are different, but we're gonna figure out different together, and we're gonna support each other through it. And we're in different places right now in this moment, based on hormones and based on exhaustion level and everything else, but we're gonna find a way to serve each other in this and.
Keep.
Figuring it out together. And it's like, as soon as you think you got stuff figured out, life changes.
It does. And the baby phases change and work changes and routines change. But, no, I love hearing that you guys have already made that a priority, but you're going to continue doing that, and so that's awesome. I commend you guys on that. You're ahead of the game, you know, when it comes to that, for sure.
I think Applebee's is still a thing.
Yeah.
I don't know. Like, maybe in our town, it's just closed down, so it is still a thing where you live. Cause I'm like, I loved that place. Like, I have so many great memories.
There, so I have a lot of good childhood memories. I was a big ribbon, a big riblets eater.
Oh, yeah. Yes. So that's the secret to the mussels. I need to eat riblets. I could look like Cody.
Bar here in Jacksonville is currently open.
Awesome.
Well, next time we're in Jacksonville, I am going to Applebee's. Cause it is. I'm right with you. I have so many childhood memories there after, like, football games on Friday nights and things like that. And then our first date after Heaven Cooper. So.
Yeah.
So, viewers and listeners, check out your local Applebee's. They're not yet a sponsor of this podcast, but you know what? Go visit them anyway. They're a good people.
Not. Not to Pull this thread, but maybe I'll just pull the room on this. Is Applebee's named Applebee's because of appetizers?
Oh, I don't know.
But that's. Their apps are the best. So maybe that's the thing. It is the thing.
The apps are the best.
Like they're potato skins and then remember the boneless wings?
Yeah.
Oh, man.
Oh, my gosh.
And they were half priced.
It might be named after the appetizers. This whole time I thought there was like a John Applebee or something.
I know. No, I feel like if it wasn't named for the appetizers, that's what it's gonna be known for now. So let it be known, right?
Oh, man, this is bringing back.
Cody spoke it.
So many good memories. At some point, we're taking you guys to an Applebee's.
That's right.
We're gonna meet up Applebee's.
Applebee's.
We're gonna hit the happy hour when the apps are half price and we're gonna order the whole platter.
That's right.
So speaking about health.
Yeah, speaking about health, like the apps, like, how do you guys. How do you find balance in being able to live and eat, enjoy life and all that stuff when at the same time you probably feel also a. Because of the nature of the work that you do, you gotta stay fit? So what does that balance look like of, like being able to, you know, stay as fit as you guys obviously do, but also living and being able to eat riblets and go to Applebee's.
Yeah, go to Applebee's.
So what's that balance look like in your life?
For me, wrestling is so tricky because I wrestle, it seems like every other week. So you could never wrestle. I mean, people do, but you can never wrestle with your T shirt on. You always have to keep in mind you're going to be half naked in two weeks.
So even if you go on a.
Vacation, it's still like there's guilt on the second day of the. It's very hard. You really. The only time I feel like you ever get off from that, you know, being out there with your shirt off and is when you're injured. And that's super rare. And I've been blessed to not be injured that often. The best thing we have done to accommodate that is we invested in putting a gym in our home. And I mean, whether I'm down there in flip flops and an open cup of coffee or. And screening something on the Chromecast or. I really thought in my mind, it was a full workout, and I had. It's always right there. There's no drive, there's no excuse. And time, which is right now such a precious thing and is about to become even more precious with the welcoming of a baby. That gym in the home has been a lifesaver for me. I know. It's helped me.
Yeah, no, that's been great. And for me, I kind of just look at it more as if I keep my diet straight for six days, then I always know I have that seventh day where I can kind of indulge. So I don't feel like I crave things because I always know, like, day seven is my day. If I am diligent and eat right for six days and do my workouts for six days, day seven is my day. So that has worked really well for me. Then, you know, add this to the mix. We got a whole nother situation going on. I am still working out every day, still trying to keep to a good diet. But, you know, there's a point. Well, at least for me, there was a point in my pregnancy where I had to just eat what I could because some things wouldn't stay down. Some things I couldn't even put near my face. Some things smelled terrible to me. So, like, I definitely feel like I was out of control in my eating situation. So all I had were my workouts, and I've just kept those up. And, you know, today I actually talked to my doctor because she actually was an athlete, too, so she understands. And I was just saying, hey, am I doing okay here? Because I'm doing the best that I can, but, you know, I'm gaining weight. No matter what I do, this baby keeps growing. And she's just like, you're doing a phenomenal job. Like, you don't worry about it. Everything just keep up, you know, your activity. And she's like, when you have this baby, you're going to see, you're going to go right back because you kept the routine up. So right now I'm just holding on to the faith that keeping the routine will take me back to where I want to be.
Hopefully, I'm sure it will, and you'll be able to bounce back to that routine because you kept it the whole pregnancy. And then they also say, like, if you keep working out through the pregnancy, and I've seen the difference in when I did this and when I did not do this, but you have a better labor and delivery. When you've worked out up through the pregnancy, it'll go faster. It'll be more efficient. Cause your body's, you know, it's more prepared for it. Cause you've been working those muscles and feeling good. And they say that pregnant women who work out always, they usually feel better, like things aren't as creaky because, you know, as your baby grows, it messes with your back. I mean, you just feel different, you know, and so that's awesome.

Is there anything like when you guys just in your normal lives, like any foods that you absolutely avoid? I always want to ask that question. I'm always curious, especially from professional or.
What'S your cheat food too?
Yeah, so do both. What do you avoid? And then what's the cheat food?
Yeah, so all the cheat foods, that's they, they do go hand in hand. All of them are not present in the house except on the day of, you know, a cheat meal or a cheat day in some cases. For example, there's no sugar and no alcohol other than stored wine, which we're not going to go to the hassle of opening. Yeah, especially while she's pregnant. There's no pizza. There's nothing but healthy food. And then when we get something, whether it's a pizza or we get like fried chicken or whatever it may be, it's in and then we immediately have to throw it out. That's a big thing. We keep a really healthy pantry and healthy fridge meal prep. We've done Eat Clean Bro Icon meals, a bunch of different ones. They range in quality, but they all have the same goal as far as a proper portion with proper nutrients and proper ingredients. I think sometimes when People try to be healthy. They overstimulate themselves. I'm going to eat this meal at this time and I'm going to have this much water with every meal and I'm going to watch my macros and. And that's such an energy drain. It doesn't become part of your life. It becomes. I hate this. Versus it's just part of my life. I'm not going to drink any alcohol until the show is over. And I'm not going back to work. I'm not going to order that pizza until we get to the light at the end of the tunnel and on the way. I'm going to do my best. If it doesn't exactly hit the number, that's okay. But I'm going to do my best and not give up and not mentally break.
Yeah, I'm a little bit different in that I portion out my meals and everything to allow for a glass of wine.
Sure.
Right.
I have to have it. Well, now. I don't know how this is happening. I don't know how I'm doing it. I am just a wine drinker. I love wine country. I feel like one day I'm gonna do my own wine.
Like I have a vineyard.
I don't know what, how we've made it this far, but goodness, it's been, it's starting to get rough. It's starting to get like. I feel like in the hospital, as soon as the baby is had, I'm just gonna be like, okay, so who's going to go get me some rose? This has been a long 10ish months here.
You're almost there.
Yes.
You're almost stretch. You can toast right after that baby's born. That's really cool. I love that. And are you guys like, you know, do you have a wide variety of foods or do you go vegan or, you know, do you eat meat? Do you not, you know, like what? But I mean, if you're okay with sharing that. I'm just curious.
Yeah, we eat everything. We don't have any restrictions and thankfully we don't have any, like, dietary special needs or anything like that. So, yeah, we're able to eat everything. We're just really kind of balanced with it. So, you know, a lot of chicken, lot of fish. Right now I'm doing a fair amount of red meat because I was told that that's a good thing for me. But yeah, we just kind of mix everything up and I try to keep changing things so I don't get super tired of something. So you Know, for a while, I'll have a great run with grilled chicken and some sort of pasta. And then after a while, it's like, oh, I can't even look at that anymore. So we gotta, like, switch it up in some kind of way or, you know, just have a little bit of a tweak to it so that it's something I'm actually looking forward to. But, yeah, I mean, I feel like. I feel like we're not as strict. A lot of my friends and other athletes I know are not as strict as people think. I think it's just more of a mental thing where I feel like if you don't deprive yourself completely of things, you can enjoy them without having to binge them.
Yeah, I love that.
If it's Wednesday, if my cheat day is Saturday and it's Wednesday and I saw a cupcake and that cupcake was calling my name, I'll go ahead and have the cupcake, and then I'll taper it down a little bit. Saturday. So I'll still allow Saturday to happen, but I won't go as hard Saturday, because I know Wednesday I had the cupcakes.
See, I won't have the cupcakes.
Because.
In my field, there's someone out there. Even in the suspension of disbelief in pro wrestling, still the true competition that exists behind the scenes, there's someone out there who wants my job, wants my spot. That dude is eating that cupcake. So I will remind myself, he's gonna eat that cupcake. I'm not gonna eat that cupcake. And the same mental fortitude that I'm overly boasting about is I don't like. I won't quit on my diet. So, for example, if our. My trainer, if she makes meal prep, which is rice, chicken rice, and steak, if I can't get that that week, or Brandy forgets to order the normal allotment of food, which has happened rather frequently lately, well, then I will literally just order six hibachis over the course of two days. Chicken rice. Chicken rice. Chicken rice. There's a way to make it work, even if you have to kind of work around it. There's this great book. I don't know if you guys have ever read it. It's old now, but eat this.
Not that I've heard of it.
Yes. It's supposed to be great.
Yeah, it's so great if you. Because we live so long on the road. For 10 years, I was on the road four days a week. So there was no meal pre. There was Places I had to stop and get food. And it was simple stuff like, hey, you go to McDonald's Quarter Pounder with cheese, one bun off, no mayonnaise. Don't do the nuggets. Like, do the selects. These little hacks, basically to make you feel like you were still doing your part.
Yeah. Like, finding what works for you, you know, to keep it going, to keep it sustainable. I hear both of you saying that.
What I need is every two weeks, we need to do a podcast where I have to have my shirt off.
So then we have accountability because I.
Have the problem of being able to wear baggy clothes to work.
That's right. We cover this up.
So I, like, never say no to the cupcake, which is my problem. I need to channel a little more Cody Rhodes, because I know we need.
More discipline, don't we?
I've never met a cupcake I didn't like. And like, it's ice cream is your lover. Mine's got the bigger shirt.
But if every couple weeks he's had a harder road with it. Because a lot of the guys in our business, the physique is everything with the males. And I have ridden pretty slick on. I have a very feminine physique and everything. I don't know if you guys saw with the match that Cody had with Shaq, but Shaq's partner was female in that match. And I was actually supposed to wrestle her before I found out I was pregnant. She is chiseled, like, out of gold. Like, she's a statue completely. There's a muscle everywhere on her body. And I mean, I'm just in awe of everything. And, you know, she's actually is a mother, too. She's had a baby, and she looks like this. So I'm like, oh, my goodness. When I get. When I get back, like, what am I gonna have to do? I may even have to have a plastic surgeon put some muscles in some places that don't pop out. But I gotta compete now. Cause we hired this woman. Why didn't we hire this woman? The chiseled woman? This kind of run for my money. Yeah, yeah.
You know, in your industry, it is probably always just trying to up your game a little bit. Cause, like, you're. I mean, I'm sure that does come with some pressure, but, you know, with the two of you both being in the industry, do you feel like that helps keep you kind of on your toes, but also balancing it all?
Oh, I think so. Because even with being pregnant every. You know, it will be every week again soon with the pandemic releasing and us getting back on the road. But right now, our schedule is every other week we do our live tv, a taped show, another piece of shoulder content that grounds us in terms of that balance. I think wrestling has no off season, so we have to find and pick and choose our moments where we have some time with us, a little bit of mini vacations. We've never taken a true real full vacation. We just take these little mini ones and they satiate us to a degree. But that's why I think the balance is there. We know we've got to get back to work. We can never just take off.
Yeah, that's. I totally get that. We're almost out of time. We want to honor you guys time. I know you're super busy, but what are maybe just as sort of a final land the plane question. What's maybe one dream you guys have for life after wrestling? Like down the road, when you look down the road for your family, you know, for what life might look like in however many years down the road that is. Cause, I mean, I think you guys can keep doing what you're doing as long as you want to do it, you're at the top of your game. But just sometime in the future when life looks different, what's some other mountain you want to climb? What's some other thing you want to do together?
Oh, man, I have a lot of mountains. Well, one kind of fun thing is that we have this reality show coming up that's starting, and that's something that I've wanted to do for a long time. I definitely didn't want to do that in my third trimester of pregnancy, but here we are.
Here you go.
Start it here. But yeah, you know, it's just kind of. It's a funny thing. There's a lot of people in the wrestling industry. They just stay in the wrestling industry. But then there have been a few really, really key people who have really branched out and just continue to expand, and that helps the wrestling industry stay prevalent. So I want to continue to grow outside of the wrestling industry once, you know, my days in the ring have ended. Because obviously, you know, there is a shelf life to how long you can do. We do. So, you know, I've got aspirations, like I said, to do things with wine.
Yeah. Your vineyard.
Yeah. And the TV show. I'd love to get into mainstream television and do some acting. Cody has had some really great moments in the acting world, and I feel like I would love to do that as well.
She has enough of the dreams. I feel like for both of us. My mind fluctuates so much. Somebody brought. They threw this kind of like kink in my plan the other day where I had said I wanted to retire at 40. I'm 35 now. And then they said, well, don't you want your daughter to really actively see what you do? And then I thought, oh, well, then maybe I don't. Maybe 42. You know, most wrestlers don't get out on their own terms. They're bound to it and they stay to it. I'd like to leave at 40, maybe drop in from time to time, take my shirt off, throw a few people around. But for me, I really am curious about just exploring the television space I was able to do. I was a judge on Go Big show on TBS this last season.
Yeah, it was great.
Yeah, I really. That was something just different and fun and the same passion of entertainment and that escape and how important it is was there. And I always say this and people literally panic. They panic. But I very am very curious about what the political space looks like. We're such a divided country, and it's so silly. Like, I'm from a very red state in Georgia, just. But everywhere I know is not. We're painted in these real extremes. Not at all like this. Come on. We need as a country, and we're doing it slowly, whether you're red, blue, or whatever. But that, that unification, that argument is what has always bonded us in the first place. And I don't want to, like, wax poetic here, but I really think I would do well because I'd like to help is all I'd like to help. I accrued some fans from wrestling in my underwear for 10 plus years. And I'd like to take that sphere of influence, whatever it may be, and turn it into something positive and leave things better than I found them. And now I have the ultimate inspiration to do so. So I'm not selfishly just walking the planet with no kid anymore. Bam.
I'm one of the people who's kind of against the political aspirations just because I can't say anything right in wrestling.
Oh, yeah.
Let alone let me be married to a senator or something.
Man, I'll be stepping on.
And I'm the brand manager here. I still step on landmines all of the time.
Well, that's the thing.
I can't imagine how many landmines I would step on.
That's the problem. Politics. People try to please everybody. It's like Leslie Knope and parks and rec with that guy in the bowling scene. Like her, you know, he just didn't like her.
Exactly.
Just move on. Wrestling's no different. I just had an explanation during one of our classes. Like, if you try to do a promo where you're pleasing everybody, you've pleased nobody.
Yeah.
Piss some people off. Excite your fans, rile up your critics. If they're not making noise, you're screwed. But if they're booing or cheering, we're good to go. Yeah, I don't think that's applicable to politics now that I said that, but you never know.
But what you two have.
I love it, though.
It's great.
You two have a way to just draw people in. I mean, both of you are magnetic and really, you both have this heart to use this amazing platform that you've worked so hard to build to make a difference, make a huge difference. And I love that. And I just believe that that platform, that influence is only going to get bigger. And whatever, whatever it looks like, whether it's through entertainment, whether it's through politics, someday, whatever sphere you're in, you're gonna make a difference. You're gonna be a light in the darkness.
I believe.
Absolutely.
And we're praying for you guys as this precious baby comes into the. I can't wait to see pictures on Instagram.
I know, I know.
I'm gonna be stalking Instagram, ready to like it. But before we let you guys go, let our viewers and listeners know where they can find you. I mean, I know you've got a lot of different places to be found, but specifically this new reality show, which I'm so excited to see. So just tell us where we can connect with you.
Well, we're every Wednesday night on TNT for AEW Dynamite, which is usually live. But, yeah, the show that we have coming, called Roads to the Top, that'll probably follow Dynamite on Wednesdays, and we're looking for that to start sometime in the fall. So until then, you know, there'll probably be bits and pieces that we'll be able to share through Dynamite, which is awesome. And on social media and stuff, but really looking forward to getting our feet wet in the whole. Peeling back the curtain and letting everybody in.
Where are you at on social media? What's your tag?
I'm Hebrandy Rhodes on both Instagram and Twitter.
Boom. I'm Odyroads on Twitter and Instagram. I came late to the game, so it's some long. I think it's American Nightmare Cody, but it's got the blue check you can. You can find me.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's where we'll be.
So cool. Thank you guys so much for taking time to do this. It was so great talking with y'.
All.
I know it helped. Everything you shared has helped so many of the listeners and the people watching on YouTube. So thank you, guys. Wow, you guys, that was so much fun. They are such a sweet couple. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to watch that reality show. And so definitely I'm going to be tuning into that.
Yes. Yeah. And thank you again to Cody and Brandy. They're super busy. I'm honored that they made time to connect with us and to share with all of us some of those things. Health tips and those relationship tips. Yeah, that was some good stuff.
Yes.
And I'm serious about maybe, like, a shirtless episode.
I don't know.
The fans would not enjoy it. It's not pretty.
It's for my eyes only.
But I just need the accountability, so stay tuned for that. Thank you guys for sticking around. Do us a favor and share this podcast. You know, just take the link, put it on social media, or text it to a friend. Say, hey, I think you'll enjoy this. Leave reviews, subscribe.
