David Cahn is running for Wharton Representative and Wharton Chair on the Undergraduate Assembly. He wants to fix course labeling so students don't get stuck in reversed-classroom math classes, expand conversation partners for language learners, and fund better orientation for international students. He argues the UA wastes money on ineffective programs.

Hi. I'm running for re election for Wharton Representative on the Undergraduate assembly and for election as Wharton Chair. I'm a pragmatic person who cares about delivering real results but also focusing on change within the ua. Because we both know, we all know, that the UA is an ineffective body as a whole. First, on the pragmatic politics side, I've worked on partnering with Penn Language Exchange to improve conversation between native speakers and students who are studying new languages. I partnered with the math department to make sure that sail classes reversed classrooms are labeled on pen and touch so you don't get stuck in that class and have no opportunity to get out. Next, I worked on the budget trying to reduce funding for student government. Things that don't really get anything done and move that money toward the clubs that matter most to you. Then I passed a resolution through the UA body to fund an increased international student orientation. I think it's really important that we allow international students to the same or better experience during NSO as Native American students. Now, moving forward, I think it's really important to recognize the weaknesses of the UA as a body. The UA doesn't necessarily represent the things that you want, and what I want to do is partner with students to figure out what students want and help achieve those. But along the way, I'm going to keep focusing on the pragmatic small changes that are going to improve your college experience. Thank you.
