David Trainer demonstrates New Constructs' one-click reports, which pull original line-item data from 10-K and 10-Q filings. The tool lets you extract specific items like goodwill impairments and pension assumptions, then calculate hidden gains and losses as a percent of revenue.

In addition to accessing data from our database via our Dynamic Data Screener, clients can also access data via one-click reports. Think about these one-click reports as custom reports you want to get from our website. You design what you want to see, how you want it formatted, and we'll set it up for you no matter what it is. And one thing that's unique about New Constructs is our ability to deliver original line item data or data directly from a 10-K. For example, this report was based on a request from a Big 4 audit client. They wanted to see all goodwill impairments that that were reported in filings over a certain period of time. What you see in this report is not just the bucket that we put this data into when collecting it, but the original text and value and additional context from the footnote around it to help explain exactly what this impairment for goodwill means. These kinds of reports can provide some unique insights. For example, when looking at the return on plan asset assumptions for pension plans, not only do we see that there are some abnormally high Return assumptions for some of these pension plans, right? Wouldn't we all want to earn 21% or 26% on our investments over a long period of time? What we also see is that some companies have not just one assumption for the return on the pension plan, but 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. Calculated data is data that comes from reports and models. So for example, if you wanted to see all the hidden gains or hidden losses and you wanted to see that as a percent of revenue, we can create a report like that for you as well that's focusing on a particular line item within our models. Again, anything you see in the model or anything that comes from a 10-K or 10-Q can be delivered in a customized format via this one-click report function. The goal here is to provide, again, easiest access as well as transparency into everything that goes into making New Constructs Research unique.
