A Must Listen! - Dean Graziosi Weekly Wisdom
5 Feb 2016 · 4 min
Dean Graziosi reflects on Thomas Jefferson's willingness to risk death for his convictions and uses it as a call to stop dabbling in your goals. He argues that real commitment to income, health, relationships, or business requires the same decisive action Jefferson showed, not half-hearted effort.

Hey, guys. Dean Graziosi, welcome to the Weekly Wisdom. Sorry I was a little late this week. It's going out on Wednesday instead of Monday. I was in Nashville, Tennessee, doing an event this weekend. What a great place and wonderful people. If I got the chance to meet you there live, I shook probably, I don't know, 2, 3, 400 people's hands. So got to say hi to a lot of wonderful people in a great state and city. Okay, here's what I want to talk about today. I'm just finishing up an 18 hour read of Thomas Jefferson on his history and just amazing. And I think I've shared this before and I brought this up. I always share what's current in my life. And the part I want to talk about today is you being convicted to just choose a side, choose what you want out of life and go for it. You know, I look at his decision to break away from England, from the British Empire. If it didn't work with him and Benjamin Franklin and John Adams, it didn't work. They would have been beheaded. Right? That's being pretty convicted. But even now on his second term, where I'm at in the book, Thomas Jefferson is on his second term. He gets reelected and he's going for more of the Republican way where the people are in charge, not a big government. And the other side are the Federalists. They want to lean more towards the way it was in England. And he is so convicted on what he wants right now. In the book, he just found out that the Federalists, someone doesn't know who it was, but offered $10,000 murder because he got elected to a second term. And he's getting letters from different people saying, we were asked to go, that people are coming with knives and clubs because the first person that kills you gets $10,000. And he's so convicted and so convicted in our way of life. What we have now is because of these founding Fathers that he saw that the Republic, the democratic way of the people ruling and the government there to protect and serve the people, not the people, serve the government. He was so convicted in that that he didn't waver. He said, I'd rather die doing it my way and what I think is the best for the people than to change my course. Now, that's a total extreme example. But how many times do you say, I want to make more money, I want to lose weight, I want to eat better, I want to have better relationships. And then someone talks you out of it. Someone says, you're crazy. Real estate doesn't work. Making more money doesn't work. Doing your own thing doesn't work. People Only the rich get richer. You in today's society, we're leaning towards socialism or there's only two classes, the rich and the poor. You can't do anything. And we're so not convicted that we start swaying and going all over the place. And then we doubt ourselves. And then we sit back down and say, ah, maybe life's good enough. No, life isn't good enough. There's always more for you. But the only way it happens. And this reminded me today I was literally, I ran this morning. I ran about four miles this morning listening to the book. I listen to books. Not ready. And I'm like, this man is so convicted, he's willing to die to prove and do what he thinks is best. What do you think is best? Isn't it time that you stop dabbling and start getting more convicted and say, this is what I'm doing and no one is going to stop me? I deserve that next level of life. I deserve more income. I deserve to start my own business. I deserve a promotion at work. I deserve to look my best, whatever it is, be convicted, decide on it, stop dabbling and go for it.
