Dean Graziosi explains how to find laser focus by matching your work style to who you are: the fast-moving hare who fails quick and moves on, or the methodical tortoise who plans first. Stop chasing someone else's method and build on what you're already good at.

So are you the tortoise or the hare? And which one gets faster to the end result? Welcome to the Dean Graziosi Show. All success starts right here. Hey, it's Dean Graziosi. And welcome to the Dean Graziosi show, where we go upstream to anchor in a foundation for success. The blueprint, the rules, the habits. And today I want to talk about your way of learning, your way of going to another level, especially in today's uncertainty, uncertain, unprecedented times, you need to maximize your abilities, maximize your capabilities. So therefore, you can maximize your action and your results. Listen, if you love this podcast, share it with friends, share it with family, screenshot it, put it on your Instagram. I do these three times a week for free to deliver capabilities, to deliver you the rules to habits for success. And you can say thank you by simply sharing it with those that would appreciate this information. I. All right, so let's get back to the hare and the tortoise or the tortoise and the hare. What does that mean? Okay, I'm the rabbit. I'm the hare. I want to run fast when I get a course, when I join a mastermind, when I listen to podcasts, when I read a book, I want the information. I want to cut a check for speed because I want to go 100 miles an hour. Now, has that caused me to fail faster than some people in life? Yeah, absolutely. I have fallen down, gotten dirty because I went too quick. But I get up, I shake it off, and I go fast again. I, I, I fail fast. So I am the quintessential hair. So if I ever got in a program that was slow paced and methodical and we have to dot every I, cross every t, follow the rules, sit in a certain chair, don't let your add kick in, I would lose my mind. I've had, I would have adhd, I, I would freak out, I wouldn't be a part of it, and I'd run away. And I'd miss out on a lot of opportunity, a lot of wisdom, potentially. So I need to frame stuff around me being the rabbit, wanting to go fast. I need to learn that way. Maybe that's you. I find that about 40% of the world is the rabbit, is the hare. Now, on the other side of that is the tortoise. That's my sister. I love using her as an example. She's massively successful, too, in so many ways, in her marriage, as being a mom, in her businesses. Right. My sister wants every I dotted and every T crossed before she makes a move. She Wants to measure twice and cut once. My sister needs to know step two, step three, step four, step five, step six. Before she will move me, I'll start with step one, go fast, show me step two. I'll jump out of the plane and hope my parachute opens. My sister will analyze, look, prepare, have double shoots on, neither one is better. And I would bet to say both of us, if you keep going forward, if you fail forward, both of us would land at success around the same time. But what I know is if you put a tortoise in a teaching process that's meant for a hare, a rabbit, they'll get overwhelmed and quit. If you put me as the rabbit, the fast mover, in a training that's built for a tortoise, I will explode, I will implode, and I will run out of it. So in times like these, when we should be gaining new capabilities, we should be receiving self education, we should be teaching self education, we should be learning the digital economy, the information age, the knowledge industry. We should be working and being an investigative reporter in industries that are going to thrive, that are going to exponentially grow in this shifting world. If we're going to do that and we're going to gain new capabilities, then make sure you understand which one of those you are. Are you the tortoise or the hare? And just digest the information in a way that fits your soul. If you've gotten, if you've gotten frustrated before, if you haven't finished courses before, if you started something, you're like, why do I keep quitting stuff? It could be because you're setting yourself up for failure. Now once you identify that, there's another thing I want you to acknowledge in today's, you know, new norm. So many of us are home. In fact, two thirds of the world is home, right? More people are online right now than ever before in history because they have time on their hands. Now there's two types of people that I think. People who live in a zoo and people that are alone. All right, two more metaphors that I want to share again, to get you in the right space, to gain the capabilities you need to come out ahead when this is all over, right? What does the zoo mean? You know, some days my house is a zoo. Right now we're all home. I have 11 and a 13 year old, I have a dog, I have a four and a half week old son. My wife and my sister in law is living with us too. She went in quarantine for a couple weeks and now she's with us, helping us with the baby. It is amazing. I love everybody here. Well, simultaneously, I'm trying to run multiple businesses. One business has 80 people alone. Another business, we have over 300 houses, lots of businesses, and launching new ones, doing podcasts, writing books, all the things that we do. I'm trying to do all that at home. Some days it feels like an absolute zoo because it's chaotic and crazy and I'm trying to get all this done. And even though I have all this time on my hands, there's not enough time in a day to get it all done and be a good dad and help my kids get their homework done and when they're done, get them to play so they're not on electronics and oh, my God, can you feel me raise your hand right now. If you live in a zoo sometimes and you don't know what to do next sometimes because there's so much to do now on the other side of the fence. Like my mom in Williamsburg, Virginia, my mom's alone. My sister's afraid to go there because my mom's at high risk. So my mom's been alone for, I don't know, five weeks. She hasn't seen a person. My sister drops off groceries to her. My mom's trying to figure out what to do. Now, I'm not saying alone means you're not overwhelmed. Like, you could have lots to do, but there's overwhelm either way, right? If you live in the zoo, there's so many things you're trying to figure out, it's overwhelmed. If you're alone in your thoughts, trying to figure this whole thing out, feeling the emptiness, trying to know what's your next best move, that's overwhelmed too, right? So we're going to have overwhelm either way. So what cures that? What cures that is next level thinking, next level action, and next level results, right? You're like, duh. But what is that next level? That next level starts with what you're focused on, right? So if we focus on understanding if we're the tortoise or the hare, if we focus and realize that we live in a zoo or it's really quiet, then we acknowledge that, but then what we focus on next is the biggest game changer. Do we focus on what we already have and how we can achieve more, or do we focus on what we don't have and how we could lose more? That simple question is the difference between you moving forward or not? If you focus on what you don't have and what you might not get in the future. That's where your future will go. If you focus on the gratitude of what's already in your life and what you can utilize and what knowledge you can gain by being the tortoise of the hare. And you focus on where you can go, that's the people who are taking action right now. That's the people who are moving the needle. That's the people that are getting results in their life. If you're focusing on your past, you're looking backwards. If you're focusing too far into the future, you're making up movies that didn't start yet. But if you could focus on the present, on the time you have, on the situation you're in, and gain those capabilities, we can anchor in a foundation to not be left behind when this is over. And again, I say this every week. This too shall end. Who will you be at the end of this? Recognize you might be in the zoo or you might be alone. That's okay. Realize that what we focus on and what we digest and what actions we take will end up being the results we get in three months, six months, 12 months from right now. I'm Dean Graziosi.
