Holding True To Yourself Is Vital To Success
17 May 2019 · 9 min
Dean Graziosi recounts the launch of the Knowledge Business Blueprint (with Tony Robbins and accompanying Mindmint software) and uses the story to illustrate the importance of aligning decisions with personal values and ethics. During a high-performing launch — claimed to have 200,000 live attendees and over 15,000 enrollments in the launch week — Graziosi chose to honor a publicly stated deadline and close a special offer at midnight, foregoing millions in revenue to remain true to his word. He frames this as a long-term, value-aligned choice and closes with promotional CTAs (text opt-in and free book).

Figure out who you are. Don't compromise the world. God, whatever you believe in will reward you for that alignment. With all the opportunities that exist today, why haven't you reached your next level of income, life and wealth? In most cases, we've been lied to. We've been told that if you find the right opportunity and you work hard, you can be successful. And that's simply not true. Millionaires, billionaires, and successful people have realized you need the foundation for wealth, the habits. And that's exactly what you'll be learning on the millionaires. Welcome to the Millionaire Success Habits podcast. All success starts here. Welcome to the Millionaire Success Habits podcast, where each week in under 10 minutes, we go upstream to anchor in the foundation, the rules, the habits for sustainable success. It's so good to have you here today. I want to talk about doing the right thing, aligning with your values, aligning with a culture, aligning with who you are deep down down, and sticking to it no matter what, Basically making the right decisions even when no one's watching. I'm going to give you a story. I don't know if you've seen all over that Tony Robbins and I launched a course called the Knowledge Business Blueprint along with the Mind Mint software. And what this does it, of course. I mean, Tony and I have been helping people succeed for over 60 years and the world has changed. People are paying for speed by learning from people who are actually doing it, more than even college as far as growth. So we wanted to create the gold standard course to help people extract what they know, a skill, a habit, a hobby or a passion they have, share it with people, make an impact on their life and get paid. Or be the reporter of other people's expertise on how like Tony got started. So, long story short, you probably saw it everywhere. We launched it, we had the biggest online training in the history of the world. Over 200,000 people showed up live. We literally had over 15,000 people enroll in the course the week we launched it to the world. It truly has become the biggest online product launch in the history of the world. And we couldn't be more grateful because it's our passion. This is our legacy. This is the impact we want to make. We want to make it the new norm that if you're good at something or you have a passion, you're a hobby. Even if you're a year ahead of someone else, you feel obligated to extract what you know, share it with other people so they can go faster. Simultaneously, you tap into an industry that Forbes Said is heading towards a billion dollars a year. I had to frame that and tell you this story about doing the right thing even when no one's watching. So we. I did over 80 interviews. Tony did interviews. We were all over online podcasts. The world was buzzing about what Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosi created. Maybe more Tony Robbins, but it's okay. I'm just saying. So we. We release it to the world and we open it up. 200,000 people show up. It's going. It turns in from our mission. It turns into a movement. I mean, literally there's a post online, like every 15 seconds of people going, oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God. This is what I've been looking for my entire life. So picture this all over the world. Picture this all over online. This buzz. And what we tell everybody, what is true is we created an offer that was only going to be available during the launch. Now, will you be able to get the Knowledge Business blueprint? You could probably get it right now as you're listening to this. Can you get the Mindman software? Of course. But what we did during our coming out party is created a really irresistible offer. The course, the software that we spent almost a half a million dollars on. Get a whole year of the software for free. All these crazy bonuses, like, bonus stack, bonus stack, bonus stack, right? So we do all this crazy stuff, we release it to the world. It goes crazy. People are buying like crazy. They're losing their mind. It's the best course they've ever had in their life. But what we said during the whole launch of the course was on this specific date, this course, this opportunity with all the bonuses and the free year will go away. So picture that we launch it to the world. We want to make an impact. We want to say, hey, this is going to be available. But this, at this moment, this is the special offer. The sales are through the roof. The impact's through the roof. Tony and I's hearts are filled. Tony and I are obsessing in the Facebook group where the. Where the members, the people who enrolled are in. And every 15 seconds, there's a post. Oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God. It's the best course ever. But we set a date to close it. So now 12 days go by, 13 days go by. And we say at midnight tonight, this offer with all these bonuses go away. Now here's the part that I'm sharing with you, and this is the parts I wish someone would have told me or taught me in my 20s, maybe even in my 30s. Because have I made bad decisions? Hell, yes. I've made bad decisions in my relationships. I made bad decisions in business. I compromised my ethics. I compromised my values because I thought it was for the good of the business or for the good of the income or for the good of the hopeful freedom I'll have, or for the good, for a quick moment of happiness or joy when it really didn't align with my values, my core, and who I was. So I'm sharing that with you for a reason. Because now the world is that people are buying like crazy because it's closing at midnight. So 10 o' clock PM sales are coming in, like 10 sales a minute. 11 o' clock PM like 12 sales a minute. These are $2,000 sales. 20, $30,000aminute is coming in. People are losing their mind over the course. We're making an impact. It's everything we said. Now it gets to 11:59pm it gets to 12 o'. Clock. And this is when we shut this offer off. I call my team. I'm like, is it. I'm watching it. I'm watching the numbers come in live. I'm like, shut it down. And my team's like, listen, Dean, Dean, just listen. Hear us out for a second. There's 10 sales a minute coming in right now. Not forget the $20,000aminute coming in. Dean. These are people that may have been sleeping. They missed the email. They're in a different part of the country. They didn't know we're going to do them a disservice. My team has the same heart to serve as I do. They're like, we're going to do them a disservice. They want this deal. And I have to tell you, I sat there for a minute. $20,000aminute is coming in, and people are going as quick as they can because they might have missed it. And it was one of the hardest decisions ever because I'm like, okay, I don't want to not let these people in. But I also told the world I was shutting this offer down at midnight. And my team, I was almost on the fence of saying, okay, leave it open for an hour more, just so those people that are late to the party can get in. And I hung up the phone. It was about three minutes after 12. And then all of a sudden I called them back at four minutes after 12. I said, shut it down. Because I told the world for 13 days that on this day at midnight, this particular offer goes away. And I had to honor that, because that was who I was. That was my alignment. Not the $20,000aminute coming in. Not the fact that some people missed it. The fact that this is what my word was. And I have to tell you, I don't know if I could have made that decision in my 20s. I would have found a way to justify, but I wouldn't have felt good. And I have to tell you, the part that you have to find the confidence in is that I know God, the universe, whatever you believe in will reward me for being aligned with my values, to be aligned with my ethics. I probably shut off two or three million dollars. That's a true story. And do I regret it? Not even a little bit. Because I know it'll come back around me. And maybe not money. Maybe it'll come back around where I have the most amazing weekend with my children that'll have memories that last a lifetime or a new opportunity will come out of nowhere, which literally did. Yesterday, one of the deals that I've been dying to get for Tony and I, one of the biggest companies on the planet in a world that we want to work with, reached out to us. We were going to reach out to them to do business deal. They reach out to us and say, oh, my God, I see what you and Tony are doing. Can we please have a sit down? Maybe that was my karma. I'm not sure what it is. In fact, as I'm sitting here, I got goosebumps. That's what it was. I already got paid back. Listen, going against your ethics, going against your values can give you temporary highs. It can give you temporary money. Partnering with someone, you don't believe in who they are, but you think you can get rich. Temporary, but it's not sustainable.
