And today we got a treat for you. We're kind of pulling back the curtain and allowing you to be a part of one of our inner circle trainings. This is a live training I do every month for a high level group who are gaining next level marketing, momentum and mindset training. This particular training is how to be a leader in uncertain times. This too shall end. And who we become at the end of this is decided now. So enjoy one of our deep dive trainings. Welcome to the Dean Graziosi show. All success starts right here. We are going to talk about how to be a leader in today's uncertain times. Now, it's a really great catch line, but how do you actually do it? I would bet to say if you're a part of inner circle, you're already a leader in your family, in your community, maybe in your business, in your life. But how do we notch it up? How do we really come out of this on a whole nother level? That's what I want to share with you guys today. Hey, inner circle family, it is so good to have you here today. Man, these are crazy times. And if you've been following everything I've been sharing, you know that I say this too shall end, right? We've created a new norm depending on when you're listening to this. But if you're listening to it live, pleasure to have you here. I see all the comments. I'll be over here checking comments. But not too much towards the end here. I will. But this too shall end. And who are we going to be when this is over? Is this God? Is this the universe? Is this the success auditor? Seeing who has the chops, who has the courage, who has the stamina to come out of this above where they went in. And that's what I've been thinking about a lot lately. And you know, it comes down to tactics, mindset. I mean, it comes down to what we do here in inner circle. Right mindset, marketing and momentum. Without the right mindset, nothing works. I mean, let's just face it. If right now you're focused on the wrong things, if you're not gaining the right capabilities, if you're living in daily fear, not moments of fear, we all have moments of fear. But if you're living in daily fear, it doesn't matter what tactics I teach you or anyone teaches you, you won't take Full advantage of it. You'll dabble and then when it doesn't work, your subconscious will blame your circumstance. Go. I knew it wouldn't work. It was the wrong time. There wasn't enough people. Online's too busy. Right. Once we have the right mindset, then it's time to gain the marketing and the tactics to make whatever it is that you want to offer the world real. Do it through authenticity. And then once you have that going, then what's the next piece? You need the momentum, you know how to scale it. Nobody wants to be the person who did something once and then you are the person who used to do that. You used to have a successful business. You used to do that one thing right? We want to create processes and systems that to replicate what we do over and over. So it's not a one time thing. It is part of the next level. You. And that's why we're here. That's why we're a part of this inner circle family. And I'm so glad to have you here. Thank you for taking the time. I don't take this lightly. I don't take this time in history lightly. I don't take it lightly that you're a part of a community. I don't take it lightly that you cut a check to be here. And I don't dabble. I love to deliver the tactics that are working in my life and have worked for the people that I know that are extremely successful and I know the ones that were successful and it didn't work out for them and why. And I study my students who started with nothing, no resources, just resourcefulness and capabilities, took what I shared, went to the moon. So when I get the opportunity of being an entrepreneur for over 30 years, from the opportunity to see my students and my own success and my friends success, I could boil it all down and say this is what actually works. And that's why you're here, that's why you pay to be a part of this group. Not for me to give you theory, not for me to tell you how it could be, but to give you the real scoop. Seriously appreciate each and every one of you, so many of you here with us right now. In my personal life, I just want you to know that I am now the dad of a five week old in the middle of this crazy chaos of being quarantined and having a new baby. And I'm finding the blessings in what God, the universe has given us right in front of us. Now I know some of you might Be going through tougher times than others. And that's why we're here today. So today, let's get right to the training. Today I want to talk about being a leader in uncertain times. Now when I thought about this topic because it's a topic that our team and Laney, who's your community manager, got back to me and said, hey, this is the number one question going around the community, this is the number one question emailed to us is how do I stand up? How do I be this role model? How do I move forward in these uncertain times? So let's go through it. I got 10 points. I've obsessed and thought through these over the last couple days of what are the 10 top points for being a leader in uncertain times? And I'd bet to say, you know, a lot of it's in here, right? A lot of it's in between your ears, the mindset. So number one, focus on what you have, not what you lost or what you don't have. Now you're like, oh, this is the in depth training of the inner circle this month. Yes, we're starting there. Tony Robbins, if you guys are a part of kbb, you know, he went really deep on this the other night in a training. But I want to give my perspective on this. Plus what I learned from Tony, I've learned so much from him and such a dear friend. But here's what happens in uncertain times. We'll use that. Maybe we could call it unprecedented times. Right? None of us have ever seen this. This is completely different. Right? So when something's unprecedented, it causes uncertainty, which causes fear, which causes paralysis, which causes you to be left behind. Can we agree to that? Can we agree to that? That is the evolution. Even if you're strong willed, if you let the wrong thoughts come in, it will paralyze you. Or better yet, worse yet, it will cause procrastination. It will cause procrastination. Like you wonder, why do I procrastinate sometimes? Why did I binge out on Netflix? I know I have work to do. I know I want to go to another level. What the hell's going on with me? It's that evolution. Unprecedented creates uncertainty, creates fear, creates holding back, which creates you to procrastinate and then miss your opportunity and then you're left behind. We're not going to do that here. So right now, number one, focus on what you have, not what you lost or you don't. Let me just ask you, if you focus on that, you have your health today and I hope every single one of you is massively healthy. If you're not, I'm sending my love and prayers. But let's just say if you're not, if you have your health today, if you woke up today, if you have the ability to gain capabilities like you're doing right now today, if you have an innovative mind, if you have an artful mind, if you have a creative mind, or maybe you have a process driven mind, you know how to create SOPs, standing operating procedures, you love Excel spreadsheets, or maybe Excel spreadsheet freaks you out. And you love the innovation of getting into flow state and figuring out what's going on next in the world. When you focus on that, when you focus on your children, when you focus on someone you love, how does that feel? Right? You have this right now. No matter if you're in quarantine, you have this, you have these capabilities. You're not starting from zero, you're already on third base. When you think about all you've learned, all you've gone through, how about thinking through that one thing that was so difficult and you didn't know if you'd be okay, but you actually are way better of a human because of that. And you look back and go, I conquered that. Just let me know how that feels. Or how does that feel inside of you when you think through that? Right? Because that's something you have now. Let me just think about this, Let me ask you this. What about now? Take a moment and think about what you've lost. Did you lose income through all this? Did you lose connection with dear friends? Did you lose the ability to go to your favorite restaurant or go to happy hour? Did you lose the ability to go to the park and walk your dog with friends? Did you lose the ability to hang out with your friends or even a boyfriend or a girlfriend? Did you lose the ability to not leave your house if you live in an apartment in a city someplace again? Did you lose the momentum that you have? Did you lose some of that fire when you think about that or you think about that, you don't have money saved up, you don't have resources, you don't have anybody who has your back. You don't have the right education. How does that feel? All in these moments, nothing's changed in the outside world. Nothing since we've been talking changed in the outside world. But those two thoughts are bipolar opposites. One empowers you and says, I do have what I need. I am on third base. I have learned a lot. I Am. I have grit. I have desire. I have passion. I am creative. I am innovative. I am unstoppable. I am a force to be reckoned with. I can make this happen. This is all you got. You got more from me. Life happens for me, not to me. I'm being sharpened. I'm a piece of steel and steel sharpens steel. I'm going to be a better version of me. I'm going to come out as a new man, as a new woman. Nothing can stop me. I got goosebumps. I don't know about you guys. Compared to the opposite side of that is. Why would they take this from me? Why is this happening? When is the government going to give me more money? Why am I still stuck home? When is this going to change? Should I be on CNN or Fox? Should I be on msnbc? Or maybe. Or maybe the Today show can help me or what should I do? Or let me see what my friends had to say or you know, I'm going on Facebook for a while. No, I can't take all this. I'm going to pour a glass of wine and watch Netflix for the next six hours because I've lost so much and I don't know where my future is. I'm not trying to be an ass, but which one empowers you? Which one turns you into a freaking leader? A role model for yourself, a role model for your subconscious, a role model for your family, a role model for your friends who. We want to fix this country, we want to fix this world, we got to fix us first. That's why we're a part of a group like this. No games, no hesitation. It's really simple. I'm not trying to over exaggerate this. What you focus on is what we get. If we focus on what we have. We are one version with goosebumps. When we focus on what was taken away, what we don't have, or what could go bad, we are screwed. Don't even think you could be a leader. Do you have moments of it? Of course. You're human. So am I. But you have to obsess on not allowing that to happen. You guys gotten this? You guys gotten this? Durr. You guys get this? That's what live does, right? Okay, number two, tell me what you thought of. Number one. You guys ready for this? You feeling it? Number two, focus on what you could do today and not regret. On past misses, future tragedies. Okay, one is focusing on what you have or not have or not have, have or lost. This is the next Iteration of that is focus on what actions you can take today and not regret on past misses. Now, let me just ask you to be really honest. I love having this chat right here and I try not to look at it too much, but this is family we're talking here, right? So how many of you, now that things have shifted, thought to yourself, ah, I should have done my own business sooner. Just tell me if one of these, if you're listening right now and you're not even watching, if you're listening, think about this. How many of you, since this shift has happened, thought to yourself, I should have started my own business. I should have done something different. I should have saved more money. If any of these are something that you happened, give me a yes. I should have saved more money. I shouldn't have bought those stupid things. Why did I waste that? Why didn't I partner? Why didn't again, I scale the business? Why didn't I quit and do this? Why didn't I get the promotion? Why was I so lazy? Why did I procrastinate? Why did I just feel, you know, fat and humble? Right? I don't mean fat physically. Just like, you know, like lazy and like, I'm good. You know, sometimes when the world is aspirational, we want more, but we're like, yeah, this is pretty good going on. Let me just chill. How many of you have had a little regret of just chilling, of just being okay, of not being freaking hungry like you are right now? Right? How many have felt that? How many have felt that? And it's stinging right now? I get all the yeses coming in, right? It's stinging. But let me ask you about something. When you think about that, when you think about those regrets, does it make you feel empowered or does it make you feel, ah, crap, I missed it. Now it's too late. The economy crashed. I can't do my own thing. It's bs. It is that thought of focusing on regret or past misses, it is the same thing. It robs you from who you want to be. All of your focus, you ready for this? All of your focus needs to be on what you can do at this very moment. What can you do today that can plant a seed for tomorrow? Who will you become now? Those regrets were put there in your life. There's nothing you can do. God creates whatever you believe in. It happens for us, not to us. Like Tony says, they were there. If you believe this for a reason, burn that pass down. Let it go to the ground. Stop looking in your rear view. Mirror. You cannot drive a car forward looking in your rearview mirror. It's an impossible task. You get in an accident and you crash. You have to look forward. You have to pay attention to what's going on right now. And the other thing too is you can't look ahead and paint a movie and create a future tragedy of what your life could be. Well, if I just sit here, this is going to happen. If I don't do. No, you can't. There can't be any time looking too far ahead, painting a vision or looking too far behind. We have to live, as Eckhart Tolle says, in this moment. We have to live in the now and decide what we can do now. What can you do today? Being a part of this inner circle is pretty damn smart. But what can you do today that can set an intention, create momentum, plant a seed? So when this ends, and this too shall end, who can you become? What capabilities can you learn? Again, you're here. Amazing. But what else can you do today that has nothing to do with the past and nothing to do with a fearful future? Something you can do today. Is there a book you can read? A course you can finish? An email? You can craft a URL you could register? Phone call you can make? Finally say no to something in your life that's not serving you or your bigger future. Finally say yes to something. What can you do today? What fear can you face today? Can you go do a Facebook live? Can you do an Instagram live? Can you film your first video? Create your sales page? Finish the damn course, get enrolled in next level education and commit. Burn the boats, pay for speed. What can you do today that can move the needle tomorrow in your life? That's what leaders do. That's what people that are role models do. Now, I'm not trying to be an ass, but most people are sitting around waiting for someone else to fix their life. No. Prince Charming is coming. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but there's no Prince Charming. Nobody's coming through the door and sweep you up and gonna fix this. There's no president gonna fix this. Doesn't matter if you're Republican or Democrat. Doesn't matter who was president. Right now, they're screwed. There's no good answers for anyone. The only people that can fix this is us. Right here, inside here. Our actions, our thoughts, what we decide to do. That's it. Take that on. You want to be a leader? Take that shit on. For lack of a better word, it's on. Us. And you know what? It's liberating when it puts on us. It's so freeing when you don't count on anybody. It is so freeing. I don't give a crap what the news says. I'm so. I. If you know anything about me, you know, I haven't watched the news in 10 years. I'm still not watching the news. I don't care if everybody's like, oh, did you see what the president said? No. Nor do I care, because I'm worried about me. I'm taking responsibility for me. His money's not going in my bank account. I'm going to be in charge of that. I'm in charge of all failures. And I get the glory internally. I'm not a brag kind of person, but I get the glory internally when I know I took responsibility for this. I took my role in this world and I moved the needle. That's something to think about on this inner circle training. Number three, be an investigative reporter. When it comes to potential shifts, pendulum swings, and business. So these are in no particular order. This is just how they came to me. Okay, what's an investigative reporter? No, I'm not talking about watching the news. I'm talking about while you're focusing on what you have, while you're focusing on the things you could do today, it's time to research. So I've been saying this a lot, but think about a pendulum, right? When a pendulum swings so far to one side, it never goes all the way back, right? Doesn't matter how far it goes. It doesn't go all the way back. And our world has shifted. The world has gone way more virtual. I'm doing everything virtual. Next level education, Our workshops that used to be in person, we rocked one last weekend. Oh, my God. Seriously? Greatest training I've ever seen in my life. Like, people freaked out about it. People lost their mindset. It was the greatest training they've ever been a part of. Not even that. It was virtual. Just the greatest training ever. Right? We are learning virtual so well that the pendulum is not going to swing back. A lot of live events will be canceled and they'll go virtual. A lot of next level coaching we're going to will go virtual. A lot of meetings are gonna go virtual. Right? Two thirds of the world at this moment is home. That can shift really quick. And what are they looking for? They're looking for next level education. They're looking for new capabilities. They're looking for ways to do cool things to fix their relationship to Lose weight, to learn a language, to learn marketing, to learn sales, to cut hair better, to do hair at home. Everybody wants to learn how to do things from home. So certain industries and you know, I'm an advocate of this industry, me and my dear friend Tony Robbins, like, like the knowledge industry, the digital economy. Break it down. The knowledge industry. Break it down a little more. You know, the knowledge industry movement, the information age. People are buying information more than ever before. You have something in here that the world could use. If you're part of KBB family, you know this, right? I'm just giving you an example of one industry that's exponentially growing while so many are shrinking. How do you find that? Be an investigative reporter. Look for trends, look for swings. What is shifting in the world? What is shifting in the world? And how can you be a part of that shift? Right? Instead of, you know, I say this a lot and I don't know where I say it, so if I said it to you, I'm sorry, but it's. One door closes, another one opens, right? A lot of doors have closed, but you never get to see the doors that are open behind you. If you stare at the door, it's closed and you jiggle the knob so much and say, please open this back up. Instead, turn around and be an investigative reporter. Go down those open doors and see which one might align with you. Align with your capabilities. So many people ask me, dean, if you had to start over, what would you do? I understand that question. But remember this. None of you are starting from zero. None of you are 15 with no knowledge. All of you have capabilities, life experience, wisdom. You failed, you succeeded. You could take all of that, value all of that knowledge and repurpose it in another industry. And if you're investigating, what are the industries that are going to shift, what are the industries that are going to grow? Like I said, knowledge industry exponentially growing. Can you be a part of it? Of course, everybody can if you get someone to teach you to do it. But what other industries are going to grow? And so I just encourage you to be open minded and watch. Okay, number four again, this is one of those ones. Like really, Dean, is this. Yes. The words we use, people and your subconscious are watching. Now, this is something I learned From Tony Robbins 25 years ago, how impactful words are. And I've used that in my life to make sure the right words don't come out. So you're saying, you know, I don't say I'm overwhelmed, I'm stressed. How does that feel when you say I'm overwhelmed, how does that feel? When I'm very uncertain, I'm very scared. Scared, I'm afraid, I'm stressed. When you say that, and if those words come out of your mouth, if anybody's listening, your children, your husband, your wife, your friends and family, you have automatically are not a leader. You're automatically not a role model. Actually, you are a role model. But are you a good role model? Right. You're inspiring fear and all this goes together. If you say I'm stressed and I'm worried, what happens? Let me know if this ever happened to you. You get stressed and worried. You use that language and then you go, oh, man, I should check the news. I should text my friend, see if they had any inside scoop of if they're going to open up where I live or what's going on or how many people died. When you start saying words, then you go and attract. Let me ask how many of you, when you're working out, right, you're in an exercise routine, you say no to the sugar, say no to the extra piece of pizza or no pizza at all. You don't eat sweets. But then you fall off the wagon. You're not really working out. You're like, ah, screw it, I'll take the pizza. Ice cream, I deserve ice cream. Come on, I used to work out a lot. I deserve the ice cream. And then you get your candida up and you're craving ice cream and sugar every day, right or wrong? Because once you kind of go down that road, it's like a snowball going down the wrong side of the cliff. It's the same thing with your words. I'm stressed, I'm worried, I'm uncertain. And you know, we're all in a bad state here. You know, we're all struggling right now. You want to use those crappy ass words, you'll get those crappy ass results. It's like, no, this is a challenging time and I'm up for the freaking challenge. This is a time that the carpet was pulled out from underneath me. But this is when you find stability. All of us are judged when things don't go right. Anybody could be happy when you win the game. Anybody can happy when you, when, when you throw all strikes and you win the championship. But who do we become when we screw up? Who do we become when the game goes to somebody else? When the carpet gets pulled out from underneath us? That's when we're judged by our internal selves. You want to be a Leader, judge yourself, judge the words coming out of your mouth. When they come out, go, oh shit, I am saying that I am talking and creating words that create negativity, create fear, create uncertainty for me, my subconscious and the people around me. You want to change your life? Be the observer of not only your thoughts, be the observer of the words that come out of your mouth. Then you'll watch a shift. Okay, number five, here we go. In these uncertain times, no matter what's going on in your life, I'm going to encourage you to create moments, flow state, like literally in your phone. Set a time every day, whether that's 15 minutes or two hours, and find a way to get yourself in creative mode, to be innovative, to be solution based, to be next level thinking. You see, in times like this, we play so much, we put so much energy on defense and we never really set the time to creative be. Think about when the world has their back against the wall. It's when all innovation starts. You see that meme going around the Internet of all the companies that were started in the last downturn, right? Or the downturn before that from Apple and Microsoft. And so many, so many companies were formed during down economies because people's backs are against the wall. And those that come out of that and create innovation, create solutions are investigative reporters who focus on what they have, focus on where they want to go, focus on their capabilities, what they can do now that use different words, can find a way and schedule the time to get in flow state. Flow state just means that you are being innovative and creative and thinking on solutions, not fixing the shit that you're dealing with. Excuse my language here today, but I'm just in a flow myself is flow state. And whatever it takes to get in flow state. Shut off your phone if you need to. Put meditation music on, sit outside, sit in one room, get your special. I drink green tea a couple times a week. Get some green tea, get some water, put a plant next to you, like I said, certain music in your ear, get into a place of you, like where are we? What's going on in the world? What can I do this very moment and all of a sudden start thinking those. Let those created juices really start moving in your life and watch how creativity comes to you. One of the biggest things people lack in times like these is absolutely positively the lack of flow state on creativity and next level. Too many of us are worrying about how to protect, listen, protect yourself, save where you can, but you can't save your way to success. You can't save your way to success. It can hold you over while you work on innovation for the next breakthrough. But there's no millionaires, there's no successful people that got there by just saving. It was saving smart spending and innovation. If you'd like to be a part of our inner circle, we created a really special opportunity in these unprecedented times. Well, they're unprecedented times. So we created an unprecedented, unprecedented opportunity. And right now you can go to deansnextlevel.com that's deansnextlevel.com watch a quick video and see how you could be part of the inner circle for less than about a movie and dinner a month and gain those next level capabilities to thrive in these uncertain times. Number six, do not let wrong influences and don't allow wrong thoughts that dominate your head. Be the observer. Now, I kind of talked about this and this is kind of Eckhart tolle 101. It's also Michael Singer, the author of the Untethered Soul, two great books. But I thought it was worthy of making it its own section. Do not let wrong influences and don't allow the wrong thoughts to dominate your head. This is one that I want to take a moment, just back up here for a minute. I want to tell you, this is something that I've been working on in my own life for a decade, and I still don't have it down pat 100%. Tony loves to call it staying in a beautiful state. Tony, I have to tell you, Tony's worked on this forever too. It's like when things go wrong, when fear comes in, when uncertainty comes in, it's really hard to stop your crazy mind, your reptilian mind or the ape mind, whatever you want to call it, from going down a bad path. Now, shortening the path is all we can do. Shorten it. Something goes wrong, shorten it from a year to a month, to a week, to a day, to an hour, to a moment, to seconds. Right? Can we do that? Is it possible? You see, sometimes we feel like suffering is what's motivating us. And you're not in a beautiful state. But you feel like if I punish myself enough, I will take action. If I punish myself enough, I will get the breakthrough. And I have to tell you, I thought about that a long time because I used to. There's a lot of sleepless nights in my life where I've solved the problem. And I said, I got to make this better. And that's hard to change. You know, sometimes a success, a habit that Leads to success is hard to break, right? It's like you're being rewarded for stressing out. You're being rewarded for worry. But at the end of the day, it's not. And I've been able to break through that. You don't have to worry your way to success. You don't have to stress your way to success. The only thing that's beating you up is the thoughts that we have of our subconscious pulling us down these rabbit holes that screw us up. Now, the reason I said this is Tony's been working on this. And Tony, one time he went to India and meditated, then went to South America. And on his way from South America, he stopped in Phoenix. He said, I got to meet with you. And he literally sat. He was this close to my face talking about being in a beautiful state. He's like, I get it. My whole life I thought to fix things, I had to get in this intense moment. I had to get fearful. I'd solve the problem and then I'd let it go. He's like, no, no, no. It wasn't the fear solving the problem. It wasn't the negative thoughts driving me. It was me. I can solve these problems in a beautiful state. And that's the first time I ever heard it. And then he's been teaching it like crazy. And he's right. And if Tony Robbins took 30 years to be at that level, then we all have to work on it every day. I got a decade in, I find myself being in a worried moment and I'm like, what's going on? What are the thoughts I'm having? And I'll search, like searching a real. Like Tom Cruise in the Minority Report, like swiping. What is it? Oh my God, it's that. It's my childhood memory of being broke. And right now with all this change, I feel like I'm going to be broke again. That's a thought that doesn't even isn't real. But my six year old inside here is all screwed up and he's scared. Oh my God, I gotta get rid of that thought. And then I take that thought, kind of like the Minority Report, and I swipe it out of the way. And if I let that thought go, all of a sudden I feel so much better. Nothing happened. The outside world didn't change. Nothing was fixed. The problem was still there. I was just in a different state because I was the observer of the emotions and thoughts I was having. And in most cases those thoughts, those thoughts are bs. Those thoughts are just driving Us crazy. Those thoughts are just abusing us. Those thoughts are things that we feel like we have to have to really push us. No, you don't. No, you don't. What's the title of this training today? How to be a leader in uncertain times. If you're stressed out, worried, want to come home and kick the dog, freak out, yell at your wife, be mean to your husband, get on the kids, I've done all that. I mean it. I've done all that. Being in the wrong state, letting the wrong thoughts dominate my mind. They didn't fix a problem quicker. They didn't make me a better man. They didn't make me more money. They just screwed up my insides, screwed up my sleep and made me stress out the people I love. That's not being a leader. That's being a shitty role model. Stop being a bad role model. Stop letting the wrong thoughts dominate you. They can't help you. Those thoughts are not going to bring you forward. Those thoughts are not going to solve your problems. Get rid of those thoughts. Like the Minority Report. Get yourself in the greatest beautiful state you can as quick as you can. I still have moments. I'll still go hours. In fact, sometimes I go days. But I get myself back and I solve this in a better place. Think about this. I guarantee there's someone in your life that went through a really bad breakup. Someone hurt them really bad, and now they're jaded. They're six months or six years without a relationship. It's because men suck or women, you know, are mean. I don't know what, whatever it is because the thing that went wrong stuck with them. They don't know how to push it out. They don't know how to learn from it. They don't know how to get that repetitive loop of thinking men are bad, women are, you know, untrustworthy. I don't know, whatever. I'm just making stuff up. And they let that loop and loop and loop and they can't get out of it. And therefore they haven't learned from it. They live in a state that's not healthy and they're not finding love. They could let that go six months or six years. What if you just shorten that, right? And you learn from it and said, I could be a better man because this. I could be a better woman because of this experience. I forgive them, it sucks, but I'm going to let it go. That could be six days, could be six hours, and you could find yourself in a beautiful state. You could give yourself permission to Be happy. Do you know one of the craziest things I've ever learned is you can give yourself permission to be happy. You're like, oh, no, we're in a pandemic. I can't be happy. Oh, my God, I broke up in my relationship. I can't be happy. I don't have the money that I need right now. I can't be happy. Bullshit. How long does happiness last? When you get something shiny, you get a new watch. My God, I want this watch. It's so amazing. I want to get it. I want to get it. You get to watch. A month later, you forget it's on your wrist. Two months later you're like, oh, damn, I got to get this thing cleaned. Oh, and it doesn't take a regular battery. I got to bring it back to the store. So annoying. True. Is that true or what? The only thing that drives us forward, that keeps us happy, is our thoughts and the permission to have the right thoughts and permission to allow ourselves to be happy. And success follows happiness way quicker than stress and worry. Alright, number seven. Fill your mind with new capabilities from those who have already been there. Want to know how to become a leader? Don't try to figure it out all on your own. Don't go through all the trial and error. So many of us, including myself in my 20s, thought, I don't need anybody. I don't need to read a book. I don't need to learn from everybody. I can figure this shit out all on my own. Dumb. So dumb. People have already made all the mistakes. You can avoid the potholes, right? Just think about this. Like, think about, and I know I've said this before, but it's really important. Think about if there's a patch of woods and you got to get to the other side. You could walk up to him going, I got this. I don't need anybody. Woods, nothing for me. Briars, you know, animals that could eat me. Snakes, poisonous bugs, Spoiler spiders, Quicksand. Now I'm in, like South America. I don't know, I'm just making this up. I don't need anybody. I'm strong. I got this. You want to race to the other side? I'm in. First one. You run in the woods and you run and you don't care. You get bit by something, you fall, you fall. You get ripped open by prickers and you fall into the quicksand and you pull yourself out like, I got this. And all of a sudden you get bit by a spider on your neck and Your neck swells up. You got to sit down for a little while, and you keep going, and you run out and you drink the wrong water, and it makes you sick to your stomach, and you throw up and you keep going. And days later, you come out on the other side of the woods and go, I didn't need anybody. I got this. And then there's somebody else on the side sitting there, drinking a nice iced tea, going, wow, I've been here for three days and two hours. Like, what do you mean you're not strong like me? You can't do this. Like, oh, I bought a map from the kid that was on the other side. He had already been through here, like, 200 times, and he had a trail. So I gave him a few bucks for the map, and I just walked through. I avoided the briars. I avoided the. I could see your. I avoided the water. That was bad. I found the spring water. That was good. And I avoided the quicksand, which I see is all over you. And I see that spider. Yeah, that was probably the so and so spider. He told me to avoid those. So I just got the map. So, yeah. Glad you had a good time there. Think about that in life, how many people, how many of us are. I got this. I'm not cutting a check to go faster. I'm not getting involved in that coaching. I don't need to read that book. I got this bs. It's all bs. It's exactly what I thought. If you have any thoughts like that, throw them out of your mind. People have already done what you're hoping to do. Start off where they left off. Listen, I tell my daughter, who I hope doesn't go to college. I hope she doesn't. She might want to go for experience. And I'm sorry if I insult some of you. I don't mean to in any way. Thank God our doctors went to college. Thank God if you need a lawyer. Thank God if you need somebody specialized. But for my daughter especially, my son probably will go to college. My son is a numbers guy. He is structure. My son will be my CFO someday. He'll be his own cfo. They'll run this company, right? My daughter, I don't see college in her future. Even though she wants to go for the experience. My definition of my daughter, she's like, what if I don't go to college? It's not like, don't go to college and be lazy. It's like, no, you're just going to learn from somebody who's already Been there. So I've told this story before, but I'm going to tell it again. My daughter loves being creative. She's such an artist. It's unbelievable. She's so. She sees things differently than I do. She'll take a picture and make it look better. She'll take a room and make it look better. She'll take and draw something. I'm like, oh my God. So I said, what about interior designer? She's like, ah, that would be cool. And she goes, well, wouldn't I have to go to school for that? I'm like, nope. I said, here's what you do. If you want to go to college, go the traditional route. Get a degree, marketing degree, art degree, all that kind of stuff. Or we find the top 10 interior designers in America and you write the greatest letter in the world to all 10 of them and say that you'd like to work for them, but be the best employee they've ever had in their life. Except one difference. You're free. And the only thing you ask for is for them to teach you everything they can and for you to work your tail off. I said, you go and spend a year with someone who's got 20, 30 years of being the best interior designer and you get to start off where they left off. Ask every question you can. Help them in every way possible. Be the best employee they've ever had. When you come back in a year, you're ready. You've learned from someone who's already been there. I'm not being rude, but you're going to go to college and learn from somebody about interior design who's never designed anything in their life. They've never done it. They're great teachers of it, but they're not the doer of it. I just don't understand that theory. I don't and I can't. And that's where the world is going. That's why the self education industry is absolutely exploding. Going to be a billion dollars a day. My daughter, right now, she's taking an art class at home and is learning from someone who. Who's not a teacher, doesn't have vowels after her name. Just someone who's a really good artist and wants to teach other people. And we're willing to pay for that. So is the world. So my whole point is, don't try to figure this out on your own. If you want to know how to thrive in uncertain times, learn from somebody who's already been there. I've been through four down markets. I get it. I failed miserably on the first one. Right. If you want to learn how to be in the knowledge industry, you learn from Tony and I. You want to learn how to, you know, I write books like, like the Underdog Advantage. You want to learn how to take your disadvantages and make them strong. Read the Underdog Advantage. Right. If you want to learn how to be an artist, you want to learn how to do hair paint houses. Be better at online marketing, be better on video. Find someone who's doing it at the highest level possible and cut a check to go faster because your time is worth money and trial and error is the worst. Like the story of going through the woods. So how do you become a leader is we learn from people who've already been there. I learn from people all the time. I'm still in masterminds. I'm still now in virtual masterminds. I'm going to be on a virtual Mastermind tomorrow with 40 other entrepreneurs sharing. Don't try to figure it out on your own. Those days are gone. Number eight is really simple. Do it with a headache. You're like, what does that mean? Okay, here's what I know. I don't know where this quote came from, but. But it said professional athletes compared to non professional athletes. Professional athletes will do it with a headache. They don't feel good, they got the flu, they'll go out there and win the championship. In times like this, we all got the headache. We all have the thing that's wrong with our life. If you want to be a pro, you want to be a leader, you want to be a role model, you want to be an example for your family, your friends and your subconscious, you got to do it anyway. I don't care if you don't feel like doing it. Find the motivation, do it anyway. I don't care if you got a little headache, Find the motivation, do it anyway. Do it with a freaking headache. I told the story about, I told the story about Michael Jordan. I had the chance to go to dinner with him in Salt Lake City or Park City, Utah. So I sit down with him, had a great conversation and man, it was so cool because I grew up in the Michael Jordan era, right? I watched all those games and I remember the Olympics when they won 120 20. And to hear it from him, it was just so cool. It was just a surreal experience. Like, how am I even at this table? So he's literally sitting right next to me. We're drinking a glass of wine. He liked Pinot noir and a Cigar. Couldn't do the cigar. I would throw up all over him. So I drank a glass of wine with him and he's telling me about these stories. And he's like, his favorite basketball games of all times. When they were doing five on five in the Olympics, he said it was just the greatest team ever. It was like Magic Johnson and. And him. And, oh, my God, I'm terrible with basketball names. I'm thinking the guy from the Boston Celtics, Larry Bird, and all these Kareem Abdul Jabbar. All these amazing people in the Olympics, like the best of the best, right? And he said every day they would play five on five. And he's like, they were the most challenging games of his entire life. And they would bet like $10,000 a game. It was insanity. Charles Barkley was on the team. They'll all come to me eventually. Anyway, I'm hearing all this and how they used to mess with the youngest guy and they'd take away his shoe and give him two left feet and he'd wear them in the game, all this cool stuff. But it came to something when I talked about the championship, when he played Salt Lake City and was the game where he wanted the buzzer when he was sick. It was after his father was killed or died, I think he was killed. And he grabbed the trophy, if you guys remember. If you don't, no big deal. But he grabbed the trophy. He was sick as a dog. He had the flu and his eyes were bright red and he hugged a trophy and laid on the floor and just cried and probably thinking about his dad. So he told me about that whole moment, and here's the behind the scenes. Ready? They put them up in Park City, Utah, while he was playing in Salt Lake, right? And he got back after one of the games and he was starving at one o' clock in the morning, and the only thing open was a pizza place that delivered. And he said he got old pizza delivered. And he was thinking it might have been that, but he ate that pizza delivery really late. And he's like, it either gave him food poisoning or he got the flu. He woke up the next morning throwing up, fever, felt like hell. And it's game seven, right? He is sicker than a dog. He's in the locker room vomiting again, sweat pouring off. If you remember, he was like beating before. His head was full of beads right before, like sweat beads, before they even started the game. And he said, I was just sick. He's like, but I had to play. That was my job. That was my Duty. I was winning that no matter what. And if you remember, like, he went in the locker room a little bit early, came out looking like hell, played the game of his life, and like Jordan style, at the buzzer, scores the winning. Remember, he was like, his feet were like this high off the ground, scores it, they win, grabs the trophy, falls on the ground crying and just anchored in. Professionals do it with a headache, with the flu, throwing up food poisoning. He could have been like, oh, I'm too sick. I'd love to try. But no, that wasn't even a freaking option. It's not an option. You want more out of life, you got to do it when you don't feel like it. You got to do it with a headache. I tell my son all the time, sometimes I want my son to be more aggressive. Like when you hold. Grab that, like you grab something, do it. If you're going to do something, just freaking do it. Just do it. Dedicate. Commit to it. Don't dabble. People that dabble get dabbling results. Number nine, when this starts to lead up, when we start getting momentum, when we focus on what we have, not what we don't have or what we lost, when we focus on what we could do now, not the past and regrets or painting a picture in the future, when we're investigative reporters, decide where our energy should go, where's the pendulum going to swing? When we watch the words we use, when we create a flow state, consciously create a flow state to get creative, to get innovative. We don't let the wrong influences and thoughts in our brain. When we fill our mind with new capabilities, when we do it with a headache, then it leaves us open for next. And this is number nine. Next level thinking creates next level action. And next level thinking create. Creates next level actions, creates next level results. Does that make sense? Next level thinking. Gaining new next level capabilities creates us to do different actions. Remember, our best actions, our best thinking got us to this moment. We need new thinking, we need new actions because that will get us next level results. And when you look through that, number 10 is really portray leadership. Portray the vision of where you're going. The people around you are going, your new company's going. The company you're going to form. Your side hustle, your career, your life, your family. Portray where it is you want to go. Take these 10 steps and be this person. Watch this or listen to this 10 times. Put these into your life. Not because they're mine, because these are. These are fundamentally the rules that shift you from being a Follower to being a leader, to being scared, to being in charge. In charge doesn't mean you're a ruthless leader. And you got it all figured out. Courage is not taking action because fear went away. Courage is taking action while the fear is still there. And that's how you become a role model. That's how you become a. A leader. And again, I'm not saying a leader like a vicious leader. I'm talking about a leader that inspires, that pulls people towards you. That takes what's in here and makes it real. That's not left behind. That's my 10 steps for how to be a leader in today's time. Now we got a few more minutes here. If you got a question for me, I would love for you to put a Q and give a question. Sometimes staying organized is easy. But what about when family affairs are happening and so many things at once? How do you stay focused and not overwhelmed? I bet you Renee Marino. What's up, Renee? That doesn't happen to anybody. You're the only one. No, I'm kidding. Listen, right now in life, I want you to all think about this, okay? We either live in a zoo. I'm talking about this moment in time. We either live in a zoo or we live quiet, alone. Both are overwhelming. Let me just talk about some days my house is a zoo, okay? I have 11 and a 13 year old who get done with school around 1 o' clock every day. And I got a breakfast, lunch and dinner, right? We don't. We got just our family home, right? So they need help with school. They need help not being on electronics too much and finding things to do and all that. I got a labradoodle, who's the coolest dog in the world. I have a five week old son who's amazing little Luca. I have my wife who I love dearly, who's trying to juggle all this. My sister in law moved in with us and she's been helping us. She quarantined herself and then moved in. So some days my house feels like a zoo while I'm trying to take care of my dad who's living alone and take care of my mom in Virginia and make sure emotionally and financially and they're all good. And then I have 80 employees just in one of my companies. I have 250 houses that I own that people are renting and trying to help them pay the rent. All of that stuff's going on some days. And I'm trying to film and write and be creative and take my Company to the next level. And I'm trying to do all the 10 things I shared with you. And some days I'm like, this is a zoo. Ah. On the other side, that can be overwhelming. On the other side, there's some people right now that are home alone. My mom's home alone in Virginia. My dad's home alone here. Right. We're all quarantined. My mom's a long ways from me. She's alone, trying to figure out what to do do, how to stay strong, how to stay creative, and what's her next step. Both ends of the spectrum both cause overwhelm. But here's the thing. There are things that you're doing both the kazoo and alone that don't serve you, that don't match the 10 things I just shared. You're not doing things. You're not doing things. Renee, I don't mean this to be hard. You're a hustler. But there's things you're not doing that aren't moving the needle for you, that aren't moving the needle for your family, that aren't making you the strong leader that you are already are. How do you take a strong leader and make them an epic leader? There are things, I promise you, that are occupying your time, that don't fit in this category, that can go today. They can be thrown away today. And when they're thrown away, it opens up the time for what's on this list. And you will find the time to get in flow state. You will find the time to move the needle. Set it like you're going to the doctor's appointment. Find a way to be transparent with your family. I don't know how old your kids are. I don't know what's going on in your personal life, but tell them. I talk to my kids like they're 30 years old. I tell them what their father needs to do in times like these. I tell them how I'm trying to be innovative, how I'm being creative, and I need this time. I need you to step up here. I need you to make your own lunch here. I need you to help Lisa with our baby. I find ways to give me that hour or two where I'm in flow state, where I'm talking with a team, creating solutions and making it real. So it's really just prioritizing and knowing exactly what you could shift.
