How To Be Confident In ANY Situation

Dean Graziosi says confidence is something you build, not something you're born with. Cut negative influences like news and unsupportive people, change how you talk about hard situations, and remember times you already won to borrow that feeling back.

In your life, no matter what age you are watching right now, have you ever had a great day when your confidence was down? Did you ever get the girl, get the guy, get the job, get the start the relationship, start the partnership, close the deal at the bank, close the loan and the private lender? Like, none of that happens when your confidence is down. Welcome to the Dean Graziosi show. All success starts right here. Confidence is the key to so many things in life. Confidence is the key to your life, next level to your fulfillment, to, you know, let's just back up. When we were kids, when you guys were kids. We were kids. I guess I was kind of a kid. Not really. When you were a kid, remember when we played ping pong? What did I say? Ping pong was a game of confidence. Remember, Brody, you and I got really good at it and had so much fun playing ping pong. But remember when you back off and play kind of defense, like if someone's hitting really good spins or really hard and ping pong, if you're just back trying to do it and you lose your confidence and you don't swing all the way through to get the top spin or side spin on the ball, you lose. You don't have. You're just like, you know, the fastball comes in, you just hold the paddle and it goes up in the air and the other guy slams it or the girl slams it on you, right? But when did you win in ping pong, when you had confidence, when the ball came in and you hit hard with a top spin, it would go over the net. Boom. Brody, you got so good at it, Bri, you didn't really care that much, but you were still good. You're both good at so many things. Sports. God, you were blessed with that. But that's just one example. Think about this. Going to talk to. Depending on what age you're at watching this, Bree, Brody, what age you're at, think about going to talk to a friend or talking to your parents maybe, or talking to a spouse, talking to anyone. When your confidence is down, you question yourself. You doubt yourself. You try to remember what to say rather than living the experience. If you've ever tried to sell something, of course you have. If you're trying to sell yourself a product, a service, a movie you like, a restaurant you want, could you sell that person if your confidence was down? Like, oh, you know, the movie was pretty good, you could check it out. No, when your confidence is down, nothing works. I mean, in your life, no matter what age you are watching Right now. Have you ever had a great day when your confidence was down? Did you ever get the girl, get the guy, get the job, get the. Start the relationship, start the partnership, close the deal at the bank, close the loan and the private lender? Like, none of that happens when your confidence is down. And confidence is another one of those things. I think I believe you guys are smarter than me, but I believed that people were born with confidence. Like when I was young, I'd see somebody walk in a room, they just had this air of confidence. Like, wow, Imagine being born like that. As my shoulders are down and my head's down and I'm like doing all the things that shows lack of confidence. And what I learned through the years is confidence. And we're going to get to this. I want to give you in under 10 minutes, I want to share with you about confidence. Confidence isn't something we're born with. Confidence is something we create, we manufacture. Just like a power plant manufactures energy. Your body can manufacture confidence if we do the things that build confidence. So that's what I want to talk about today. Because if you want another level of life, if you want to keep growing and if you want the ideal relationships, if you want the ideal income and impact on the world and growth and you want to contribute to others, you're going to have to find a way to change your state of mind and be able to be in a confident state when you need it, on demand. So how do we do that? Well, there's a lot of different ways. One is watch the outside influences in your life. Now, we had other trains. This is just 10 minutes. Each one is 10 minutes or less. But if there's someone in your life, guys, right now, who tells you you can't, you shouldn't, or makes you feel bad about yourself because maybe they're residual friends from when you were kids. You might still have some of the friends you had in fifth, sixth grade. They could be amazing people. But if there's someone who's not going to move ahead in the path that you want, they may be telling you every time you're together that you shouldn't, you should stop dreaming. That's not the right guy, that's not the right job. That's the right. Because they're insecure or they're shy, or you could have some. Someone that loves you, think they're protecting you. And as they tell you, you can't, or it's not the right time, or not the right present, or you need more money or more experience, or you got to go back to college for things like that, or that invention's already done. If they tell you those things, even though if it's loving, half of them are going to be loving, half of them are going to be their own insecurities. But when they tell you that, if that dings your confidence, guys, even just the tiniest bit, you'll play small. You will. I've watched it happen over and over. You'll say, no. You won't take action. You won't go for it. You'll. You'll convince yourself that wherever you are right now, that the relationship is good enough, the revenue is good enough, the job, the company is good enough. Screw good enough. Screw good enough. So the first thing is, watch your outside influences. You know, your dad. I say this a lot in my books and on stage, and you probably heard it, but I don't. You know, I. You lived with me. I don't watch the news. You never see the news on the house, ever. I don't read a newspaper sometimes. Some people think that's naive. To me, the news robs my confidence. I've never watched the news and got done and said, God, I feel so empowered. No, you watch the news, you're like, wow, the world's going to hell in a hand basket, right? If you watch other people that are supposedly super happy in social media, sometimes that could rot, like, they look like their life's easy, you don't see behind the scenes. You only see the perfect picture that's airbrushed on a happy day. Not the fight, not the struggle, not the hard time, not working out at the gym, not spending sleepless nights working on the project. You see it and you go, wow, got there at 30 years old. Why aren't I there? Right? So I don't know what it is for you guys, but I would start identifying the people, the things and the outside influences that make you question where you want to go, make you question your goals. Because if you're questioning your goals, you're lowering your confidence, and you want to keep that confidence alive. So that's the first thing. So do a, you know, like an audit on what could be digging your confidence there. Then. Then there's also your words. Like, just watch the words you're saying. If somebody says, how's your day? And you're like, ah, it's all right. That's not good for your confidence. If you say, how's your day? Ah, stressed. How does stress make you feel when you say the word stress? Say it out Loud. I'm stressed. Oh, you can just say, I'm challenged. That's a little different. Same thing. But like, I love a challenge. So you guys, you guys love a challenge, but you don't want to be stressed. So many times they'll say to somebody, how you doing? Like, overwhelmed. It's like, I already know they're screwed because they're approaching it with these words that are telling their subconscious to play small. And then if you say the words, if you say, I'm overwhelmed, like, as I said, it's like, oh, I'm overwhelmed. Look at my physiology. Like, if you're watching this video, guys, my shoulders are here, my head's down. It's like, ah, just a heavy day. Stress day, overwhelming day. Like, everything goes towards these mannerisms. Your physiology, your words, your emotions go towards a little bit lower of confidence and you're not going to attack the day. But what if you said, I'm challenged? Hey, we're all challenged. It's just another growth spurt for me. It sucks. I don't love it. But I'm going to, I'm going to address, I'm going to embrace this challenge, right? But there's a quiet sense of confidence you can do when you change the words, when you don't let outside influences impact your confidence, when you change your physiology and you sit up straight and you go, I got this. I've been here before. I got this. And then the last thing I'll tell you about confidence is I like to rob it from the past, right? Because there was times, no matter what age you're watching this, there's times when you were scared to do something. You were scared to take the action. You were scared to zipline when I took you, when you guys were way too young. But remember how you felt when we were done? Like you could conquer the world. There was times in your life that you were scared to go out in front of the school, Christ Lutheran and talk, right? To. To walk into a party when everybody you felt was looking at you or taking that first endeavor in your new business or. Or asking someone out on a date that you really liked. You were nervous wrecking, scared, but you did it. And when you got the yes or you got the applause or you got the money or you got the promotion, you felt amazing. Like, holy crap, I'm so glad I went after it. Well, rob that feeling from the past and put it in the present. Because when you go up against that thing where someone's telling you you can't, and that could Ding your confidence when you're feeling overwhelmed before you turn it into a challenge, you're lowering your confidence. When someone says you can't, when someone doubts you, when someone lets you down, all those things can ding your confidence. So what we have to do is find all these hacks. Don't let the outside voices in. Watch this physiology, watch the words. And then borrow those feelings of accomplishment and confidence from the past and put them in your soul today. Because we want to be able to ramp up our confidence. In a moment, someone says, brody, get in the game. Brianna, time for you to pitch. You can go, oh, my God, I'm going to pitch. And I've watched you do this. Bri and Brody, you're both pitchers. Like your confidence. When your confidence is up, you guys crush it. Bri, I know we've had these conversations and again, this is for everybody watching, but I'm talking to my daughter right now. Bri, you remember your best games. You had a smile on your face and you said, I got this, dad. I'm okay. And you remember your worst games and you're like, oh, my God, they're too big. I don't know if I can do this. I'm not that good. Brody, your worst games is when you told me I stink. I stink. And I used to get mad at you. I know we used to argue about that when you used to say you stink. The reason I got frustrated and I'm sorry, as a dad, I try to evolve and be better and better. The reason I got frustrated because I know if you tell yourself to stink and I watch your shoulders collapse and I watch your head go down and your confidence drops 5%. I already know what the outcome of the game is going to be. I already know how you're going to feel at the end of that game. So I was just trying and I learned along the way how to. I hope I did the best I could to build your confidence without us headbutting. But that's why I got upset. I wasn't upset with you. I wanted you to keep that confidence. But you learn that along the way. So I hope you come back and revisit this lesson many times over. Because I think confidence is in the top 10 of the most important. I was going to say there's 10 things that are most important in your life. To live fully, abundantly, happy, fulfilled, wealthy, joyful, peaceful. All those things. Confidence is right up there.
