How To Overcome FEAR & Self-Doubt (Live With CONFIDENCE!)
25 Jan 2019 · 0 min
Dean Graziosi breaks down confidence into four steps: commitment, courage, capabilities, then confidence itself. He argues ruminating on past failures kills it, so when negative thoughts intrude, treat them like messages in bottles on a stream, put them back, and let them float away. Focus on what you're doing now instead.
When you can't shut your brain off, when you're thinking about things in the past that you tried and failed, that tags your confidence. And you're not going to move forward.
With all the opportunities that exist today, why haven't you reached your next level of income, life and wealth? In most cases, we've been lied to. We've been told that if you find the right opportunity and you work hard, you can be successful. And that's simply not true. Millionaires, billionaires, and successful people have realized you need the foundation for wealth, the habits. And that's exactly what you'll be learning on the Millionaire Success Habits podcast. All success starts here.
Today on this weekly Wisdom. I want to talk about confidence. You know, without confidence, nothing works. I don't know if you remember dating when you were younger or maybe you're dating now. If you have no confidence, it doesn't work. If you go into a job interview with no confidence, it doesn't work. If you want to get somebody to do something for you, help you with something, go see a movie. If you do it with no confidence, things just don't work. But I've really been going deep on this whole confidence thing lately, and I, you know, the other night, if you watch the webcast at the end, I talked about confidence starts with a commitment. And so if you work backwards from confidence, it starts with a commitment. Commitment to lose weight, commitment to make money, a commitment to make money with real estate and get the education. Commitment. After that, you make a commitment to do it, not dabble. Then comes the courage. Now, I don't have confidence yet, but I'm courageous. I'm going to push forward no matter what. And once you have the courage, then you start gaining the capabilities. Like the other night in the live cast, the opportunity to get those capabilities, or if you've gone to a live event or been through our success academy, you're gaining the capabilities. So after you commit to it and you're courageous and you get the capabilities, then you gain the confidence. The confidence doesn't come until the end. And when confidence begins, that's when the results start. And that's just an evolution it took me years to figure out. But, hey, what I want to teach you today, besides that, is that your confidence doesn't have to be in the pooper all the way down for you not to do well. If your confidence is just 10% off, literally, you're not going to live the life that you want or else you wouldn't be watching me and what I'm Going to share with you this week might sound crazy, but stop thinking. Thinking is what destroys our confidence. And I've been talking about this a lot lately with Wayne Dyer's books and the Power of Now, but I've been really on a journey myself to figure out what kills your confidence, what can get you being in a funk or off or not taking action or watching an amazing live webcast like the other night and not jumping in. What holds you back when every opportunity available is right there in front of us and confidence has a key role in it and thinking is what does it. When you can't shut your brain off, when you're thinking about things in the past that you tried and failed, that tags your confidence and you're not going to move forward. When you think about things that could go wrong in the future and wow, what if we go down this path and then this and then this, that tags your confidence and you're not going to go forward. You know, in one of the books I've been reading so many lately, I'm absorbing books like a madman right now. Talked about thoughts are not who we are. And I know I've said that a lot lately, but one person described it as, thoughts are like a river with bottles going down. And in each bottle there's a message and that's a thought, and they just keep coming down. How many thoughts do you have in a day? Nonstop in the middle of the night, just boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. But we are in control. If a bad thought comes in, like, hey, if you try this, maybe you'll lose everything and it won't work and you're not smart enough, you're not good enough. You failed in the past. You know what you do? You take that thought, put it back in the bottle and stick it in the stream and let it go. Think about that analogy. We are living with this stream of thoughts going by and you have the choice to pluck the ones that don't work for you, don't empower you, and don't tell you that you are amazing, that you are great, that you can accomplish anything you want if they're not empowering thoughts and stick them back in the bottle and send them down the stream so they go over the waterfall and crash. That's my message for today. Your confidence is your key to your success. One of the major, if not the most important key. And when it's off 10%, there's no way you can get ahead. Stick those terrible thoughts from the past and painting pictures in the future, throw them away. Focus on how amazing you are, the things you accomplished. Live in the now and make it happen. I'm Dean Graziosi. I'll talk to you next week.
