Is The Devil Real? - Millionaire Success Habits
2 Aug 2018 · 9 min
Dean Graziosi argues that an internal negative voice, the "devil within," stops people from taking risks and starting businesses. He traces this doubt to family history and past failures, then urges you to replace it with an "inner hero" that drives action and growth.

So is the devil real? And what's that got to do with you making more money and being successful? With all the opportunities that exist today, why haven't you reached your next level of income, life and wealth? In most cases, we've been lied to. We've been told that if you find the right opportunity and you work hard, you can be successful. And that's simply not true. Millionaires, billionaires and successful people have realized you need the foundation for wealth, the habits. And that's exactly what you'll be learning on the Millionaire series Success Habits podcast. All success starts here. Alright, so using the term devil may seem extreme to you. You might be going, dean, are you getting religious on me? No, I'd rather attach a word that impacts you, that makes you listen, that makes you stop. Because all of us have the devil inside of us. If you don't want to call it the devil, you could call it the villain within, you could call it self doubt, you could call it insecurities or lack of confidence. But here's what I know. We have two voices going on in our lives, right or wrong. Do you ever walk in someplace and be with a friend and in your head you're talking to them and simultaneously you're saying, why would they wear that? Or why would they say that? We have voices going on all the time. You ever go for an interview and you're sitting outside and the secretary's talking to you and simultaneously you're going, do I look alright? Did I wear the right clothes? Am I rehearsed right? Did I print my resume out? Oh my God, do I have it online? We have two conversations going on all the time. So to think that's not true. You might be crazy to think that we don't have this craziness going on of conversations. So think about this. What about when you want to make a decision to start your own business? Did you ever have a voice say, now's not the time, or what if you lose your job? What if you run out of money? What if your parents don't believe in you? What if you fail? What if you look like an idiot? What if you look like a fool? What if it takes years to recover? Who is that voice? Who is telling you that? Did you ever make a bad decision? I think we're okay. We should do that. Here's what I know. We have an additional voice. And that could either be your inner hero, that could be God, could be the universe, your good karma, or it could be the devil, it could be the villain, it could Be inner self doubt. And I want you to think about today for the first time calling the wrong voice the devil. Now here's why. Where does the inner devil come from? I think it comes from a lot of things. It could come from your past. It could come from parents who grant or grandparents that lost a business, they tried their own thing. Maybe your grandparents went through the great depression. Maybe your parents tried a business before and it really stung them. Maybe it cost them a relationship. Maybe it cost. Maybe your parents were divorced because of money. So all of a sudden, if money caused your parents to divorce, money caused your parents to fight, money caused anxiety in your childhood, you could have anchored with this inner voice that says trying your own thing is scary. Money is evil. If you go after money, your life is wrecked. Well, simultaneously you're trying to get promotions, you're trying to start your own company, trying to start your URL. And the devil is inside of you. This inner voice is saying no. Doing your own thing equals havoc. It equals stress. It equals worry. So you're fighting on the outside where you have an inner devil, an inner villain telling you you're crazy, telling you it won't work. And you're fighting and you don't know why you're standing still. Listen, if you take of business because if you don't have great relationships or you have poisonous or toxic relationships, that stops your ability to be successful. But what about the relationship inside of you? What if everything you try, you don't have to have your friends tell you you can't. You don't have to have someone who's trying to protect you tell you it's the wrong time or it won't work. You may have an inner devil that stops you non stop. Think about this. If you ever had a time in your life where you failed and it hurt. What if you tried a relationship and somebody cheated? Tried a relationship and they let you down. Try the relationship and they gave up before you were ready for it. You might have that inner devil. Go, Relationships hurt. Screw them. Stay alone. So simultaneously you're looking for the perfect relationship and you have this damn voice inside of you saying no. Relationships sting. Let me protect you. Stay alone. We'll be okay. No, you won't be okay. So you're wondering why part of you wants to be in love and part of you meet somebody, go, no, no, no, I better stay away. So who is this devil? Who this inner self doubt? Well, I just look at it exactly that. Let's call it what it is. Let's call it an inner devil, an inner self doubt. Let's give it a real name. Let's give it something that we don't want to. You don't want to give in to the devil. You don't want to give in to inner self doubt. You don't want to give in to a villain that's trying to keep you stuck and in the same place. So I like to be extreme. I'll do whatever it takes to hack my brain, hack my thoughts, scare me, motivate me, inspire me to, to action. Because here's what I know. I'll keep going back to this. Why would you want to give it any attention? Because it's guiding you. Because it stopped you. Did you ever have an idea for an invention and an inner voice go, ah, you need money to make money. You need to trademark that. You need to pay for a trademark attorney or, no, better yet, it takes. You got to get on TV to sell a product like that, or you got to learn to market online, and that'll never work. And that inner voice says you're okay. So stop being a dreamer. You don't need anybody to tell you that, because guess what? A teacher may have told you that, A parent may have told you that, an extra person that you had a relationship may have told you that. The negative news that robs our confidence every single day of our life, telling us the economy's crazy or the president's insane or we're going to flop or the interest rates are going to go up, we watch all this stuff, and guess what? The inner devil's eating it all up. And he can't wait to feed it back to you right in the moment. You need strength. He's going to tell you to play small. How about that? How about thinking through that, thinking about that inner voice as someone that's fighting you. You don't need outside influence anymore. You got enough crap in your life. So this message, this podcast today, is simply for you to remind you to acknowledge and see who that inner voice Is it's not protecting you, it's keeping you stuck. So how do you counteract that? Don't believe it. Don't listen to the devil. Don't listen to the inner villain. Don't listen to that inner doubt. Because guess what? All you have to do is look back over the last 10 years, last five years, last six months, and see how much that villain, that devil has cost you. How many times have you said no that you wish you said yes? How many times have you said yes when you should have said no? You know, I just try to hire somebody this week and young girl just out of college, ready to expand my company. The division she'd be working in is exploding. She'd have the opportunity to be management. I run a company based on culture. I don't run a company based on. I don't need this girl to have experience. She's got the right value. She's a badass, she's a hard worker. And she came highly recommended from somebody who knows her dearly. But guess what? She already kind of committed to another job that's very corporate America. Not something she loves. Okay, paycheck. And that inner villain got her. That inner devil got her. It said no, you're already committed to these other people. No, it's a steady job. No, my parents think it's the smart thing to do. She's taking the wrong job. She's screwing herself. Because at a young age, in her early 20s, she's already got the self doubt, she's already got the villain, she's already got the devil steering her ship. Do you want to let the devil steer your ship, a villain steer your ship? Or do you want to let your inner hero. Do you want to let the true you, you're passionate, inspired, motivated, excited, self steer your ship. Acknowledge the devil, realize it's real. Tell him it's a lie, Tell her it's a lie. Counteract the inner villain by realizing they've already screwed you over and you're not going to let it happen ever again. Get a new voice, inspiration, a voice of motivation.
