Weekly Wisdom - Driving Ourselves Crazy Forever
6 Dec 2017 · 12 min
Dean Graziosi walks through Byron Katie's five-question method to stop repetitive thoughts that trap you. Ask yourself: Is it true? Is it absolutely true? How do you feel when you believe it? Who would you be without that story? What if the opposite were true? Use it to question limiting beliefs about money, relationships, and who you are.

Good morning. Good morning. Welcome to weekly wisdom number 426. And today I want to talk about how we can drive ourselves crazy. Got my dog running around in the back there. People joining us here. It's a pleasure to have you here on a Monday morning with a Weekly Wisdom. Yes, I'm scruffy, didn't shave, gonna go work out soon as I'm done here. Getting a little late start today, but I wanted to talk about some stuff that I've done over the last couple months, deeper than ever before. And I hope maybe you have maybe had this experience of feeling crazy with your thoughts, knowing you want something different, knowing you want to change it, but you're not doing anything about it, knowing something's not right. Your relationship, your business, your income, your friendship. Something's just off. The way you feel about yourself, the way you feel. Wake up in a funk. You do these things and. And we can feel almost crazy because it's repetitive and we think it over and we wonder why. And I want you to really think about something this week. And I want to talk a little bit about Byron, Katie. It's a book that I read ages ago and something I'm digging into again. Again. Good morning, Amber and Paul and Julie and Kathy and Hanna. I hope I said your name right. And Sylvia, thanks for joining us this morning. Today we want to talk about how we drive ourselves nuts, how we drive ourselves crazy and the repetitive cycle that we can be in now. Sometimes some of you might be watching. So, no, I'm in a perfect space. I never get that way. That's great. Congratulations. Because I know I'm still not there every day of my life. I drive myself nuts sometimes. And what we do is we forget. Hey, if you're liking this message today, please share it right now. Please send the likes. I'm reading them. I'll read every single comment. I appreciate the shares to get this message out because I've been doing these, what, for 426 weeks? And it's my job to serve. It's my goal to serve. It's my job today. If I can give you one thing, throw the rest away. If you take one thing I share today and implement it into your life, one thing that can change the direction, change the way you feel, then I did my job. And it's worth spending the time here with you this morning. Good morning, Sandra. Good morning, Rose. Good morning, Lonzo. Good morning, Robert. Good to have you guys here. Okay, so here's what I want to talk about. What drives us crazy is our thoughts. We are nothing more than the sum total of what we think about. And what happens is without realizing, we get into this repetitive rhythm, this hypnotic rhythm of. Of thoughts that tell us we can't. Thoughts that, you know, again, I'm going to go back to Byron Katie, just because I referenced it this weekend. I was talking to my dear friend Dr. Amen, Dr. Daniel Amen. What a great dude. And he's like, hey, have you looked at, have you looked at Byron Katie stuff? I'm just back into it now and I'm like, yeah, I read it ages ago and I started looking at it. And I want you to think about this and maybe you could share below, what's the one thing that you wish you could take to another level in your life? Maybe you guys can share with me right now. Good morning, Julie. How you doing? Kathy and Lisa, good morning. Good morning. What's one thing that you would change? Would you make your relationship better? More passion, more intimacy? Would you take your income to the next level? Would you get out of a job that's killing you? Would you start that business that you've been dying to do, but you've just kind of been procrastinating, sitting on the sidelines? Would you fix the relationship with your parents? Would you forgive someone? Would you, would you, you know, a better relationship with your kids? I don't know what it is, but maybe you could share this morning. But think of the words of Byron, Katie. So say something as simple. Something as simple as, my husband never listens to me. That's a thought that could fester inside of your body. You know, my husband comes home, I want to tell him about the day, I want to tell him how I feel. And he's had all day to be busy. Or, you know, you could be the one at work, you're coming home, you want to talk about your day. My husband doesn't listen. And that thought festers in your head and it compromises your relationship. It compromises how you feel. Again, I'm using a simple analogy here. And all of a sudden you start telling your friends, yeah, my relationship would be good if my husband listened to me. You think to yourself, if my husband. And all of a sudden your thoughts take over, your ego is protecting you, your subconscious is protecting you. And what happens in Byron, Katie's words, and I'm going to use hers, is that compromises things in your life, that compromises who you are. Thank you for the likes and the shares. I appreciate it. Guys, I'm reading every one of Them I'll read every one of the comments and I appreciate the shares to get this message out to the world what Byron says. And I want you to do this with any thought that you have anything. When I talked about you want to make more money, you want to go to another level, start business, get in shape, fix your relationship, find more intimacy, start doing these five questions from Katie, from Byron. Katie first, is it true? So if I'm using this silly example of and I'm talking today, if you're just joining us, I'm talking about the thoughts that can drive us freaking crazy, things that can cause us to go down that road of anxiety and stress and depression. Ask yourself these five things first, is it true? Does my husband never listen to me? Has he never listened to me since the day I married him? And then answer that, is it absolutely true that he doesn't listen to me? The second question is just that, is it absolutely true? I've been telling myself this story for months, for years, for a decade. Is it absolutely true that he doesn't listen to me? Then the third question is how do you feel when you tell yourself that? Again, the stupid analogy of my husband never listens to me. When you say my husband never listens to me, he doesn't listen to me. Tell your friends he doesn't listen to me. How do you feel when you say that you feel like your husband doesn't listen to you. You feel worthless, you could feel worthless, you could feel fear, you feel not loved. And then that story of he doesn't listen to me means he must not love me or maybe he loves someone else and you go down that road. So the fourth question she asks is how would you feel without that story? How would you feel without that story? If you just said I'm never telling that story again, how would you feel without that story? And then the fifth thing is, is to change the story. Now if you read Millionaire Success Habits, you know, I have a similar process. But we're talking about Byron Katie today because she's great at what she does. What if the last one, the fifth one is you change? You know what? My husband does listen to me. My husband has listened to both before. Maybe not as great now, but he has listened to me. And what if I did some things where I listened to him more? Now again, I use the silly analogy today. Thank you so much, Cynthia and Susan and everybody here today. I appreciate all the comments and the shares and the likes going across. Amazing. But I want you to think about that in your life you know, we all have things going on. I might have my business kicking ass. I might have my relationships good, or I might have my health good. I might have my relationship good with my friends, but they're with my friends and my children. But there's always something off in our lives. There's always something not right. And that's okay. That's life. We're never the ideal perfect us, Perfect weight, perfect conversations, perfect intimacy, perfect passion, perfect parent, grand perfect grandparents, husband, wife, whatever it is, perfect income, all of it at once is almost impossible. So what we have to do is we have to keep ourselves in check. Not letting our thoughts get us angst, give us anxiety, give us fear, give us worry, cripple us, keep us on the sidelines, keep us scared. Listen again. You might be in the perfect space in your life right now, and that's great. These are tools to use when you're not there. These are tools to use when you're scared, when you're fearful because our thoughts are so insane. When we can become the observer of those thoughts and say, that's a great thought, that one will stress me out, get rid of it. Or if a thought that's repetitive and going over your mind, ask the five questions of Byron. Katie, you know, I'd start my own business, but if I do, you could go bankrupt and fail and I'm too scared. Is that true? Is that absolutely true? How does that feel when you tell yourself that story? Who would you be without that story? And the fifth one is, how can you turn that around? Other people have been scared. Other people started with no money and they killed it. They went on to be billionaires and change their lives or whatever it is, change the story, change your life. We know this. I just want to attack it in every way possible. Because as much as I study it, as much as I obsess on it, as much as I'm a part of this, as much as I wrote multiple New York Times best selling books on this, my thoughts can still screw with me. So for me to say it out loud to you, to remind you if these weekly wisdoms are nothing more than reminder services to keep you engaged, to keep you realizing, holy crap, I've been in a funk for a month, for a year, for 10 years because of this dumb thought. Beat that thought up, prove it's wrong and get yourself. Replace it with a different thought, replace it with different feelings, and know that you're strong. If you're watching me right now, you've got through so many obstacles in your Life. You've succeeded on so many incredible things. Look back and remind yourself of the things you've accomplished, not the things you haven't. We all have a tendency to look back on the things we fail. We're going to fail out. We. We obsess about the past, we worry about the future, when really right now, right in this moment. I'll end with some words of Eckhart Tolle when he said, when you're feeling that way, when you're feeling angst, when you're feeling worried, when you're feeling stressed, at the very moment, grab something, touch something, grab the seat you're in, grab the steering wheel of the car and say, in this moment, do I have everything I need to feel good in this moment? Not tomorrow, not where I go when I'm driving, not yesterday. In this moment. And most every single time, the answer is yes. You have what you need right in front of you. Right here in this moment. Hey, guys, this is just. If you notice, if you've been with me for years, some of you have been watching my weekly wisdoms for five, six, seven, eight years. You know, I share what's on my heart. I share what I'm learning. I share what I'm going through. And I'm back, you know, going through, cleaning out the cobwebs, cleaning out the old insecurities that are there since you were 6, 8, 10 years old. Sorry, the sun's coming up in my eyes here. I got to get working out. It's getting a little late, so I encourage you to do that today. Ask the questions of Byron. Katie, go back and watch this 10 times if you have to. Remember the questions. Go grab her book. It's great if you have stress, worry, or there's one area of your life you're just blocked on, you can't make the money. Damn, you've been wanting to start that business, wanting to go to the next level. I'm not. I'm going to scoot over here. There we go. That's better. Then ask yourself those questions. Watch your thoughts. Prove they're wrong. Know that you're strong. Take. This is the last thing I'm gonna say. Borrow confidence from the past. You've gotten through some tough shit in your life, for lack of a better word. You've had people treat you bad, take advantage of you, take your money, take your relationship, cheat on you. A boss that you know, a co worker that screwed you over all those things. And guess what? When you thought it was the worst thing ever, you ended up Learning from it, getting through it, and becoming stronger on the other side. And if you're in a spot right now that you feel you can't even see how you can be stronger, I promise you, you will. But it starts with your thoughts. Have them stop lying to you. Remind yourself of the badass you were to get through the past. Rob that confidence, use it today. And let's make this one of the best weeks of your entire life. Stay positive, keep your head up, keep your shoulders back. This is your week. This is your life. We got one of them. Life comes short. 150,000 people die every single day. You're not one of them today. You might be going through a tough time, but we can fix it where other people can't. That's my weekly wisdom. Today, Monday, Trying to get back on track.
