Dean Graziosi shares a gratitude practice he used after Thanksgiving: write down people who impacted you, then send them voice messages or texts saying why you're grateful. His daughter Brianna tried it and felt immediately happier. Small daily habits of gratitude can shift your mood fast.

Okay, I think we're good. I think it's working. Remember, we're gonna look right there. I think we're live right now. We're just waiting for people to come on. Hey, everybody. You know, we had a little technical difficulties, didn't we? Phone locked up. I'm here with Brianna. Say hi, Bri. Hi. And glad everybody's here live. We are on. If you're here in the States, the day after Thanksgiving, it's crazy. Black Friday, people are full because we all ate too much. Did you eat too much? No, you're okay. But happy Thanksgiving, everybody that lives here in the States and wherever you are around the world, just giving thanks for you guys to be a part of our Facebook family, the DG family, the tens of thousands of people who watch our weekly wisdoms every week. And before, I'm not gonna keep you here too long, okay? Okay. Okay. But yesterday, I taught my daughter a secret, and I wanted to share it with you guys today. You know, yesterday morning. Do you mind if I just talk for a second here? Yeah. Okay. Yesterday morning I woke up, and I have to be transparent here, and I'm gonna share this in front of you too, is when I was a kid, I didn't like the holidays. You know, everybody's got their own thing. My parents were apart when I was really young and we moved a lot. And holidays just put me in this funk. And that's so far gone. That's my past. The craziness of my childhood and the sadness of my childhood is gone. And this little amazing angel here and her brother have taken that all away. And I'm so blessed and I'm so abundant, but for some reason that still sticks way down in my gut, I wake up on holiday mornings and I have this, like, pit, this little bit of sadness, this little bit of just residual effects from my childhood. So yesterday morning, I got up before you came in my room, and I started writing down here's the secret. I started writing down all the people in my life that I was extremely grateful for, that I was thankful for, that have made an impact on my life. The people I forgot to say thank you to, the people who made the little impacts, the people who made the calls when I needed it or were there in business. And I made a list, and then I went and recorded voice memo messages for each and every one of them that made an impact in my life, and it put me in such a euphoric, amazing mood. Anyway, when I was in the middle of it, Brianna came in and her and I were talking, and we talked to her and Brody, her brother, who's eight. Nine. I'm going to be nine soon. Who didn't want to be on camera. We started talking about thankfulness and gratitude, and I said, who are you thankful for, Bree? And you started listing your friends and. And I said, here's something cool, the tiny, silliest little secret. I'm doing all the talking, aren't I? I asked you here to talk and share, and I'm doing all the talking. I said, what about? She just got a little. What's it, an itouch? Yeah, it's an itouch. It's like a small iPad, right? Yeah. I said, what if you went and left a message for all your friends and let them know how special you are, but each one let them know why they're special? So did you do that? Yeah. Okay, so let me ask you here, because I just did all the talking. That little secret, how did that make you feel when you sent the messages to people? Oh, good. Just good? Yeah. Okay. How did it make you feel when they replied back? I felt happy because they actually read it. Yeah. And does it feel good? Did it put you in a good mood? Because you were coming to me and running to me and saying, look what this one said. Look what that one said. Right. Isn't that cool? So what would you. Would you tell people? It's good to be thankful. Yeah. Yeah. What else? Anything else you want to share before I know your brother's dying to go play with you? Anything else? I don't know. I'm putting you on the spot here. Hey, you're amazing. Brianna's been doing weekly wisdoms for me since she was. I just looked at one yesterday. You were two. Sitting on my lap, looking at your nails. Do you remember that one? Yeah. Yeah. Well, I appreciate you, baby. You gonna go play with your brother? Yeah. Okay. I'm gonna finish my message here. Okay. I love you. Love you. Okay. So I wanted to share that with you guys because from a parent's point of view, you know, I am so blessed. I'm blessed with my life. I'm blessed with my businesses. I'm blessed with what I do for a living and touching so many lives, and I woke up literally in a funk yesterday. It's like residual from a childhood of, you know, nine marriages with my parents. I love them dearly. They, you know, they just trying to figure stuff out. They did the best they could, but it created this inner sadness in me that it still pops up on Christmas. It pops up on my birthday. It pops up on holidays. And we have to find the hacks. We have to find the secrets that allow us to change that state of mind, to change that mood, to find the gratitude. Yeah, everybody says, practice gratitude. That's awesome. And it's great, but it's not always easy. So find the hacks. So to me, yesterday, literally, I sat in my journal, I wrote down all the people affected my life thinking about you guys and the messages. I've read tens of thousands of messages from you. And my heart started to fill. My state of mind started to change. The way I looked, my glasses changed. Nothing else changed around me except the thoughts in my brain. So when I told Brianna in this simple way, she made a little list. She went and text each friend, hey, I appreciate you. You challenged me at softball. You are always there when I need you. You're my best friend at lunch. And I watched her come out glowing. So let me ask you, who can you be thankful for today? Who's someone. And I'm going to challenge you to be public right now. Tens of thousands of people will watch this. Who right now can you be thankful for and why? You can. You could write their name. You don't have to. You could just say, people in my life. But. But think about the people who have been there for you, the people you forgot about, the teacher who made an impact, your parents, your cousin, someone. We can all think about the people who screwed us over. We can all think about the people who've done bad things to us and hurt us. But we can also think about the people who've done something for us. And why not today, this day after Thanksgiving, here in America or wherever you are in the world, why not today? Make a list of the people who positively impacted your life, who've done something for you, who maybe you're not even friends with anymore that they have. And how great would it be just to send them a quick text and a quick message or write them a letter or send them an email and don't just say, hey, thanks, I appreciate you. You know, what really makes a difference? What really makes a difference is when you tell people what you're thankful for. You know, I have a partner that runs companies better than anyone on the planet. I can't do what he does. He can't do what I do. And yesterday I just thanked him for being so incredible. And he's also the most amazing dad. I said, you're a great role model. Someone else is a great role model when it comes to exercise and I thank them, someone else. When I was going through tough times, the friend I didn't even think was that close to reached out to me and was a big part of listening and wanting to be there. Usually I'm the one that's the listener and doing all the helping, right? And I just thought of all these incredible people in my life, and I left a message strategically for each one. And when I was done, I was euphoric all day. Yesterday, I didn't. I had a glass of wine yesterday, but I didn't need to drink wine. I didn't need to take a Xanax. I didn't need anything. I was high. I on gratitude. So today, it's great, Andre, your daughter and your grandma, very thankful. Hey, my daughter and my son and my grandma. Unbelievable. I'm thankful for Jesus, of course. That's amazing, Melinda. Especially just being. Sharing from your heart who you're thankful for. So, anyway, this is a really simple message today. It's like you're probably saying, oh, Dean, really, you really hit it out of the park today with this magical wisdom. But, hey, isn't life about the simple things? You know, I had someone write a review about me the other day. I saw it, and it wasn't the most positive review. And it said, dean, I've been following you for 15 years, and some of the stuff you share is so simple, it insults my intelligence. It's time to step it up. And I was thinking about that, and it made me realize what happens in so many cases is people are looking for the magic button. People are thinking the billionaire had this secret thing that no one else knew about. The happy person with amazing marriage and the kids had something no one else has. The person is in great shape and ripped and, you know, can eat Thanksgiving dinner, but still go out and run and feel in shape. They must have a secret that we don't know about. And what happens is we discredit the little simple things that make the massive shifts, the little hinges swing, a big door, right? And I thought about that, and I was. At first, I'm like, wow, am I. Is some of the stuff I share too simple, or. And I just thought about it. I'm like, he's been following me for 15 years. He's looking for the magic pill. It's not the magic pill. It's these tiny little shifts, these tiny little things we have to do every day, like waking up instead of thinking about what's wrong with the world, what's wrong with the day, what you have to do today. When you think about who you're thankful for, what you're grateful for, and you write about what you get to do that day because 150,000 people died today and you didn't. When you think about those little things, it just sets the, the tone for a different part of your day. And then when you think about your vision and your clarity and you, you fine tune what you're going to accomplish in that day and what would be a big win for the week and the month, all those little things, yeah, they add up. But those little things add up to successful lives. There is no magic money machine. There is no magic money pill. There's not a diet pill that makes you rip. There's not a one minute thing that you can do to have the perfect relationship. It all takes some work. But why not learn from the people that are the happiest? Why not learn from the people who are infecting other people's lives in a positive way? Learn from the people who are making the strides and accomplishments that you want. Listen. You're watching me. Listen. My DG family, my Facebook family, my weekly wisdoms. Over 440 episodes I've done every single week. You're watching for a reason. And here's what I hope. I hope that you watch me. You get so empowered. Maybe you don't ever watch me again because you're on to new, bigger, better things in your life. But all I hope to do is spark something. Thank you for all the hearts. Thank you for sharing. If you like this, share this right now. Click the share button. Get this out to people that need this message. But remember, guys, it's the little things that add up. The little habits. In my book, Millionaire success habits, they're just tiny little shifts. But if you start implementing them in your life, you get to see the results. You know that I say this all the time, but we all overestimate what we can do in a year and underestimate what we can do in five. If we start making shifts today, we get to see results down the road. If you eat too much today, you won't be overweight tomorrow, but you could be in a year. If you spend too much money today, you won't be broke tomorrow, but you could be in a year. But the complete opposite is true. If you start implementing these tiny little shifts tomorrow morning, you just wake up and say, I'm thankful for two people. I'm sending one email, one email, one text message, one phone call tomorrow. Will you be happier for the rest of your life tomorrow? If you do it once, no. But if you do it each day, it builds momentum. You don't go to the gym once and get in shape. You go to the gym all the time. You start practicing gratitude, practicing being thankful, practicing being the observer of your thoughts and not letting them screw you up for the day. Practicing on what you get to do for the day. Practice that. Set the intention for a day that makes sense. Practice that. Don't let yourself get sucked in by negative people or people with bad advice. All these little things that sound so simple, like, oh, Dean, I knew that years ago. But are you doing it? That's the thing. Are you doing it? So just look at it as tiny little shifts, one day at a time. There is no magic money machine. Can you make a great deal of money in the real estate space or online space or writing books or what it is that you love? Of course you can. But it won't happen tomorrow. It's tiny little shifts that build momentum. And all of a sudden, you hit this peak and you realize the wind is not in your face anymore. The wind is at your back. And you don't know why. It's because you built up all these little habits, and that can change your life forever. Hey, I don't want to. I don't want to make it sound easy. I've had my struggles my whole life, ups and downs. But I know this. When you set the right intentions, when you have the right habits, when you have the right daily routines in your life, your life goes in a different direction. And that's my message for the day after Thanksgiving. There were so many messages yesterday. I'm like, you know what? I'm just going to wait till the day after. Oh, thanks, Timbo. Thank you, Lisa. Good to see you here. Thanks, everybody for the messages. By the way, I read every single one of these messages that are here. If you. If you like this simple message today and you're thankful for someone, share this with someone you're thankful for right now. Just think, who am I thankful for? That's on Facebook. Who can I send this message to? Who can I let know that I care? Who can I let know that they are important in my life and they made an impact? I appreciate you guys. Have an amazing day. Have an amazing Black Friday. If you're out in this craziness, good luck. If you're watching the replay, I hope you got some good deals today.
