Weekly Wisdom - The Two Things You MUST Do!
6 Jan 2017 · 4 min
Dean Graziosi shares two practices from a recent growth event in San Jose: deliberately appreciate small everyday things, and reframe obligations from "have to" to "get to." He walks through examples like morning gym sessions and filming videos to show how this shift changes your motivation.

Hey, everybody. Welcome to the Weekly Wisdom. I'm Dean Graziosi. This is episode 397. How awesome is that? I love it. Thanks for joining me. You know, I just got back from the live. First live event I did with my partner Brendan Burchard and Ethan Willis called our growth event up in San Jose, California. It was all on personal growth, on personal development, on personal empowerment, and God, it went so fast. Good. I am on fire. I'm a little wiped out from a three day event, but I wanted to shoot this video for you because so many incredible speakers came. My buddy Trent Shelton. We had Harvey McKay, we had Sean Stevenson, JJ, Virgin, Doctor, Amen, and the list goes on. Brendan rocked their world. Ethan was unbelievable. We just had this great event and of course you leave there buzzing when you've known, when you read a good book or went through one of my courses or some great course or went to a live event. But I boiled it down this weekend to two things. And I did this on my live Facebook. If you saw it, I boiled down to two things that I want to really focus on over the next 30 days, especially even with my children. I put stickies all over the house this morning and I said two things. Appreciate the little things. Now, I know you already know that gratitude is the key to happiness. You can't be grateful and sad or grateful and mad or grateful and depressed. The two don't go together. But sometimes we forget, especially living in an abundant society, we live in America. We have so many things that we have access to that we just kind of take things for granted. You know, I think it was Trent Shelton said, 150,000 people die every single day and we forget that we have all this good in our life. And we focus on what goes wrong sometimes. So anyway, I just want to boil it down for you. One thing I. I'm going to do two things this month and push my kids to do it every day. Make it a routine one, is appreciate the little things. I literally woke up this morning and I appreciated my comfortable bed. I put my feet on the floor and I appreciated that I was here and alive. Appreciate that I could pray. Appreciate that I had air conditioning and the house felt amazing. I just lowered it so down that I was appreciating going into my bathroom and appreciating getting in my car. That's the first thing, is lower the appreciation level. And I'm telling you, I have goose bumps right now. I could just feel the appreciation for the little things. The second thing is instead of having to do things this month. Everything I think about, I'm going to say I get to do, I get to do. You know, this morning my alarm went off at 5:07 and I was tired after three days of event and being on and being on fire. And I started this appreciation. I was appreciating all these things and I said, I am healthy enough, I'm alive, I get to go to the gym. I didn't want to go to the gym at 5:17 after rolling out of bed. But when I said I get to go to the gym, man, it changed. I was in the gym on fire this morning. And then after being away, my office is, I have so much to do. I'm filming this video and 20 others today and usually I'd say, oh, I got to film all those videos today. Not in a negative way, just I got to do it. Instead I said I get to film videos today for people. Hopefully I inspire, even if it's just one person, one person that makes a shift, one person finds more abundance or happiness. I did my job and I get to do that. I get to run a big company, I get to help my employees. If you could just take the next 30 days and appreciate the little things and everything you have to do, you say I get to do it man, everything will change. It'll be like again, it's foundational change and I'm going to do it with my kids. I'll let you know how it makes out, how it goes. My daughter has dance and then we got to get in the car and race off to baseball tonight. And I said to her, oh my God, you get to do dance and baseball tonight. And literally she went, yeah, I get to do both. I was like, wow, why didn't somebody tell me this sooner? Alright guys, that's my message for today. Hope I didn't go on too long. Thanks for joining me for this Weekly Wisdom episode number 397.
