Devon Gillespie recites the full lyrics of the national anthem, from the dawn's early light through the rockets' red glare and bombs bursting in air. The performance draws on the 1814 Battle of Baltimore, where the flag's survival inspired Francis Scott Key to write the song.
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. Praise.
