How to improve your pricing tables in Bubble.io and BOOST conversions – ratio.dev

Dennis H. Lewis shows two ways to boost pricing table conversions in Bubble.io: display monthly slots remaining and switch to a waitlist when sold out, and use pop-ups to reveal bonuses and trigger micro-commitments. He walks through the data searches and workflows behind each feature.

Want to improve your sales page conversions in your Bubble application, but don't know how? In this video, I'm going to show you two powerful techniques for your pricing tables that have dramatically increased conversions on our client sites. And they're so simple that you'll wonder why you never thought of them before. These aren't features that you'll find in any standard payment gateway, plugin or landing page tool, yet they're powerful psychological triggers that can increase your sales overnight without changing your product or your price. Tell me this. Would you rather struggle for months trying to get more traffic to a low converting sales page, or spend 10 minutes implementing these changes and instantly convert more of the visitors you already have? Before we get into the details, if you haven't already signed up for free access to our no Code Resource Center, I really suggest that you do now. There's a link in the description. It's chock full of vetted plugins, how to videos, podcast episodes, great books to read. Just a lot of good stuff for any Bubble application developer. It's free. That's the end of that shameless plug.
Back to the conversion focused features that we can add in to your pricing tables on Bubble. And this brings me to an important point. The fact that we're building in Bubble gives us the ability to do exactly what we want to do for our application. We can tailor the user experience. When you're using third party tools, landing page builders, plugins for WordPress, whatever it is that you might think about using, remember that you're always going to be stuck with the features that that person has already built in a product that they're trying to satisfy everybody on planet earth. You have a unique advantage by building in Bubble because you can make your application do what you want it to do. And that's what we've done here. I'm going to show you an example that we use on our site on ratio.dev. and it's super simple. First of all, you'll see that we have three plans and below the buttons here it's telling the user how many slots are available. Why do we do this? Because we're creating scarcity. We actually control how many we have available every month and then every time a sale is made it will go down. And so when it gets to zero, instead of being able to purchase, they'll be asked to join a wait list. So this creates a psychological trigger that hey, I need to get in before the last slots full. That is the first thing that we're going to see how to implement. And the second that we're going to see is instead of just saying buy now, you'll see these buttons have see bonuses. And when you do that, it brings up a pop up that actually shows you everything you're getting on this plan and all the bonus values that included that really make it a great deal for what you're doing. When you design your offers and you have bonuses, it's really important that the user actually sees them. And by doing it this way, first of all, clicking, making that first click on seed bonuses is very low friction. You're not committing to purchasing yet, but you're getting the user used to click it. So they click and now they can actually see the bonuses. They can see the value proposition. Here they are. For $2,100, they're going to get $11,300 worth of value. And here's what they get for signing up. So this also makes the conversion process easier because now they're more aware of what they're actually getting. Now a lot of tools will let you put stuff on the checkout page, but people get blind to that. Here we're giving them a step and we're saying see the bonuses. Oh wow, that's cool. Now I'm saying subscribe or Buy now or whatever it is that you want to use on your button. So that is a quick demo of what we're going to see. And now what I want to do is walk you through how we've set these up inside bubble. This is the page that we were just seeing in functioning from the user's experience. And now let's look at how it's set up. So one of the first things that we've done is we've created on the page some custom states we have associated to our data type of plan. We have the plan for each column of the pricing. Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan 3. We have Plan 1 slots available and we have some default values there set so that when it first loads there's something in those.
And let's scroll down.
Where this is showing the custom states slots available. If there's only one, it will say one slot. Just being picky there about our plurals. And if the number of slots available is less than 1, so 0, then it will say sold out for this month. So that really gives them an incentive to to get in before they're gone. But how do we calculate this? Let's go into the workflows on our page. Look at when the page is loaded. We actually have a custom event that Triggers which is called SEO set plans. So let's go look at that. First of all, in order to not be doing the same searches over and over again, we have a custom event that will just find the plans and we have another one that will go out and find for each of those plans how many sales have been made this month. So let's look at plan search.
All this does is it returns data.
Does this does three searches. So this one goes for looking for the price id, finds the plan and returns it for plan one, plan two and plan three. So this just finds the plans, does those three searches. So I'm not constantly doing them over again. The next step is to get the monthly sales. So what I do here is it takes inputs of the plans, the three plans and it returns the number sold goes to our sales log and we'll do a search and then return the count for each of those plans based on the current month. After it's done that, it will set the custom states, the slots available using the results from here from how many have been sold compared to how many are available per month for that plan.
And that will make those text change automatically. So you don't have to be maintaining that, it's just automatically happening. Also we have another custom event here for handling the wait list. So if there aren't any plans and it says join the waitlist, we have a custom event that will ask them for their name and their email and it will record the plan that they were interested in as well. So now I can actively market to that specific person knowing what he was interested in. So these are the kinds of detailed conversion workflows that you can put into your bubble application and make it really a step beyond what a generic tool would give you. Now the last thing that I want to show you is what happens when they click this see bonuses button here. If it is, if the slots are available, is bigger than zero so there are slots available, then what it's going to do is it's going to trigger the for Plan 1, a custom event SEO Plan 1 starter is going to set the one that was selected and it's going to show the correct pop up. That way I can just use one pop up and use a custom state to know what are the bonuses for that specific plan to show in that pop up without having to create three different pop ups and maintain them and go through all of the the complexities there. One of the important things to to know is that this process is using what we call micro commitments. So by taking them first to a small show bonuses, that's a small micro commitment, and then the next one is subscribed. It's easier for them to fall into that routine of going through the process. So a lot of these techniques are straight out of Alex or Mosey's 100 million of her playbook, which I really recommend. That book is also in the Resource center, so hope you've enjoyed that. I think this video illustrates a superpower that all of us bubble developers have, but most of us aren't using nearly enough. And that is too many businesses are depending on these third party tools that are just generic SaaS, tools to control the customer journey and that leaves them with a standard generic experience. Whereas because we're building a bubble, we can really hone in and make it as good and tight as we want for our specific use case. I think that's really important. So think about this in your bubble application, what custom features can you build to increase your conversions, to add scarcity, to add micro commitments so that they really will go through this journey in the most optimal way possible. And if you want more ideas like this, be sure to grab access to our no Code Resource center links in the description. Hope you've enjoyed this video and I'll see you in the next one.
