Why I Recommend Butter.us over Zoom for Online Meetings

Dennis H. Lewis (founder of Ratio.dev) recommends Butter (butter.us) over Zoom for virtual meetings. After describing long experience in tech and an anecdote about Zoom fatigue, he lists four reasons to prefer Butter—its fun/vibrant UX, solid meeting basics, AI-powered recaps (delivered about five minutes after a meeting), and useful engagement/integration features—and gives a personal testimonial that his team switched regular meetings to Butter. He finishes with a CTA to ratio.dev (no-code resource center) and subscription/promo asks.

Ever wondered how some businesses seem to move at light speed while everyone else is stuck in these soul sucking Zoom meetings that drain your energy and kill your productivity? Well, after 40 years in tech, the good old days in IBM to helping hundreds of startups scale with no code. I've tested every meeting platform on the planet and today I'm pulling back a curtain on the tool I use to run all of my meetings with code, customers and prospects. And that is called Butter. And you can find them here at Butter Us. But here's the thing that most people don't realize about virtual meetings. The platform you choose isn't just about video calls. It's about whether your team leaves meetings energized and productive or feeling like corporate zombies. And I'm about to show you exactly why one tool stands a head and shoulders above the rest. Let me tell you a story. A few months ago I was running three back to back client calls on Zoom. You know the drill. That corporate black hole where everyone's muted, cameras are off, and by the end of the day you feel like you've been sucked dry through an ethernet cable. After that third meeting, I looked at Tony and said, there's gotta be a better way. We're building the future of business with no code. But we're stuck in the stone age of virtual meetings. And the truth is, after Covid, it's just depressing. Here at Ratio.dev, we are all about little guys beating the big guys. I mean, that's what we do with our customers. We help them build applications that can compete with billion dollar companies and win. So when I see a company like Butterfly put out a product that is so much better, so much more fun, so much more engaging, and doesn't leave you with a foul taste in your mouth. I felt compelled to come out and put out a video on our YouTube channel and say, hey, I think this tool is really awesome. And I'm willing to say that we use it every day. First off, and this isn't. It isn't the only reason but, but Bubble is vibrant and it doesn't feel boring and corporate y it feels alive. It's vibrant, it's upbeat and it doesn't make you want to crawl into a corporate grave. When you open Butter for a meeting, you actually kind of feel good about it. No joke. They're doing a meeting in Butter. Feels like fun and there's no pain involved. And let's face it, you're not going to get away from video calls. Every business nowadays uses video calls. So you might as well use a platform that feels nice, right? Reason number two, it does everything you need. So it handles the basics perfectly. Meeting rooms, engagement tools, quality, audio and video recording capabilities. Everything you need without all the bloat, it's there. So they took the best parts of every meeting platform and they said, how do we actually make this work for human beings? So.
Reason number one, it's fun. Reason number two, it does what it needs to do. Reason number three are the AI powered recaps. Okay, so for me, this is a game changer. Every meeting is recorded, and when you finish the meeting, five minutes later, you're getting a really nice AI powered summary with the action items. And who said what? Just you could store it. You can go back into Butter and find them anytime you want. You don't have to worry about who's taking notes. And it all just happens seamlessly in the background. I wrote a book about building AI tools, so I know a little bit about this. And when AI steps into the background and you don't have to think about it, but it just makes your life better, that's when it's a success. And these guys have done it, Butter has accomplished that. And then reason number four are all the bells and whistles. And so if I scroll down and show you their website, here you have, you can plan, you can do agendas, you can do all of that. Engagements with all that kind of fun stuff, the recaps. No more zoom fatigue here. You can do polls, you can have butterboards and flashcards, and you can put a mirror board in there or Google Docs, or you can show a video in the middle of your meeting. So all of the bells and whistles that you might want to have, they're there, but just in a kind of fun, enjoyable way. I think that's probably enough. I'm not here to make this the longest video on YouTube. Here's what happened to us. We switched our weekly team meetings, our client calls, our training sessions to Butter. And the difference is immediate, people. Almost always when I start with a new call, with a new prospect. Oh, this is kind of cool. I've never been on Butter before, but I like it that I've heard that comment so many times. And hey, what's better to start a meeting with a potential customer with, that's mine. So I think that was personal testimonial there. Yeah, most people think meeting software is just meeting software. Butter isn't really expensive. It's not free, but it's worth it. But when you're running a business, and especially when collaboration is everything your tools really need to amplify your energy and not drain it. You might be thinking switching sounds like a headache. And yeah, there's probably a learning curve and it probably takes you a couple of tries before you really get good at using it. But it's reasonably priced. It's not going to be that hard for you and I totally recommend it. Anyway, speaking about other tools, if you're interested in learning more about other tools that we use in our business, Definitely go to ratio.devsignup for our no Code Resource Center. You'll find some great books to read, a couple of them written by yours truly, and I think it's just a really awesome resource. We update it every week so it's never stale.
