Foreign. Hey, this is Derek Cole. Welcome to the Derek Cole Podcast. Thank you so much for listening. And the majority of this podcast come from clips of videos with Q and A sessions. Sometimes I put the clip, sometimes the whole show. But usually the clips are kind of bite sized pieces so you don't, you know, have to listen to me all the time for, you know, seven, 10 minutes. But these are helpful clips and I hope you enjoy it. Again, let's get right into it. Hey, what's up guys? Derek Cole with Simmons. One hour heating and air. And I know you know this, but it's, it's hot, humid, it's nasty out there. So I wanted to come to you and give you a few tips on how to keep that home a little cooler this time of year. One thing that could be a problem is sending your temperature higher when you go to work or leave the house. And what you usually keep it at, usually when folks come home from being out or from work at 5, 30, whatever, try to bring the temperature down, you know, 3 or 4 degrees from where it's been all day. It's really tough for the system to achieve that level until, you know, 10, 11, midnight. It's probably not going to get there because it's so hot and so humid. That system is trying to dehumidify and cool the home. So it's working very hard. So keep it at one set point. If it's 75, 74, 72, 77, I mean whatever is comfortable for you is fine. I wouldn't bring it down too low because it's never going to get there or it's gonna be hard to get there this time of year when it's, you know, the, you know, a week long of a hundred degree heat index, which means it's hot and it's humid. So the unit is working overtime. Now out there at your drain line, where it comes out might be near your unit, wherever it's at, you should see a puddle of water and that's completely normal for that to happen. It means it's draining properly. The big part of air conditioning is dehumidification. In this part of the country is dehumidifying. So the byproduct of that is water. So you want proper drainage and you'll see quite a bit or puddles of water outside at that drain line because it's doing what it should be doing is dehumidifies, removing moisture from the air. So the water is there for that reason. Again, another thing is keep the door closed, keep shades on the windows Blinds on the windows, keep them closed. Whatever you can do to slow down the heat coming in from the outside into the home is beneficial. As far as cooking in the house, that's fine if that's what you have to do. Just understand you're adding heat to the home. You're adding heat to the home and it's going to have to work harder to achieve the set points you want. So you know, turn your dryer on. Cooking the home is a problem. Use your fans when you can. Fans, it's not going to cool room down, but it is going to cool you down. It's going to give you a wind chill effect. So if you have fans, you need those. I would use them. You know, that gives you comfortable and that's what you, you need to do. Do it. Obviously we're working hard here, working overtime to get everybody as cool as possible as quick as possible. But stay safe out there. Be careful, hydrate if you do have to be outside for extended period of time. And water something like Gatorade. Water. Gatorade. Alternate water. Gatorade. Because you don't want to drink all water and you don't want to drink all Gatorade because you need water and you need the electrolytes to assault of things like Gatorade may have for you because you'll be sweating quite a bit out there. And be sure to come inside, take breaks. Just be careful. And if you need us give us a call or go to sims1hour.com and we'd be glad to help you out. But be safe out there and we'll see you soon.
