Podcast episode (hosted by Derek Cole) about dryer-vent safety and maintenance. The host cites US Fire Administration statistics (about 2,900 dryer fires annually causing ~5 deaths, ~100 injuries, and ~$35M in property loss) and explains four benefits of annual dryer-vent cleaning: (1) fire safety (lint-related fires), (2) energy savings from improved airflow, (3) potentially extended dryer lifespan, and (4) reduced moisture-related microbial or debris growth. The episode promotes a new standalone dryer-vent cleaning service (Simmons1hour.com/dryerventcleaning) and asks listeners to share, rate, and review the show.

Hey guys, welcome to the podcast and today I want to talk about lowering your risk at home for a home fire did you know clothes dryers is one of the leading causes of home fires in general? A closure according to U.S. fire administration. You can go see all the stats@usfa.fema.gov usfa.fema.gov 2,900 closed dry fires are reported each year and they cause an estimated five deaths, 100 injuries and $35 million in property loss. The leading cause of those closed dryer fires at 34%, is failure to clean the dryer. Failure to clean the dryer A simple step can help prevent home fires. And it's as simple as as cleaning your dryer vent on a yearly basis. They recommend once a year you clean your dryer vent. You're probably thinking, you know, Derek, what does this have to do with heating and air? Well, aren't you the H Vac guy? Yes, I would like to think so, but I'm also concerned about your indoor air quality and saving you energy. And this is where this comes into play. I carved out four secrets about a cleaner dryer vent that you can take advantage of that you probably didn't know about. Four secrets about a cleaner dryer in that you can take advantage of Number one Fire safety. Again, one of the top causes of home fires is from the clothes dryer. The most common source from the dryer is from the lint, the lint not being cleaned out of the dryer vent. Lint Number one fire safety. Number two Money saving on energy. How's that possible? Well, when the clothes dryer has a lint buildup, it causes a restriction in the airflow that causes the clothes not to dry as fast. So when you have like airflow, it causes the clothes not to dry as fast. So you will have longer run times. Long run times obviously mean more energy. So number two, money saving on energy. Number one fire Safety. Number two, money saving on energy. Number three, you can extend, possibly extend the life of your dryer because a lot of folks think that when the dryer starts to take longer to dry clothes or something fails in the dryer, it's, you know, it needs to be replaced. And it could only be a maintenance issue. It could be a lack of airflow, it could be the fact that the dryer vent is clogged. Not only did it get the airflow. So number three, you can extend the life of your dryer. Number two, money saving on energy. Number one, fire safety. Finally, we'll finish. Number four, reduce the risk of growth. How is that possible? What does that mean? Well, when you put, obviously when you put wet clothes in the dryer, part of the drying process is removal of the moisture from the clothes. So if you have a clog or clogs in the vent because that could cause nasty things to grow because now you're not getting rid of the moisture like you're supposed to. It could be dry lint, it could be debris, a bird's nest. It could be a number of things as to why it's getting clogged that needs to be cleaned out yearly for fire safety, saving on energy, extending the life of the dryer. And again, you're going to reduce your risk of growth. Really. That's why we added this service to our line of offerings because it's such a simple solution to what can be a complicated problem. We already do duct cleaning. We already have machinery to do duct clean, but now we can finally do standalone dryer vent cleaning, which is as you listen this, it's, it's very important.
