Tip number three on the four ways to have a cool summer is all about. Refrigerant is something we talk about a lot. We get asked a lot, we have statements a lot of hey, my unit is not cooling. I need a fill up. I need freon. How much is freon? How much do you guys charge? So you know one of our films on our YouTube page, by the way, search Derrick Cole on YouTube. Over 600 videos to help answer any question you have about air conditioning, heating, home comfort, indoor air quality. But one of the films on their YouTube page is refrigerant. That's simply the title of it, is Refrigerant. So this is the audio from that video. As I was, you know, thinking about this and you know, the audio on that video explains everything that needs to be explained about refrigerant. What you should be looking for, why do you think you need a fill up and why that's not normal to have a fill up every single year. But it is one of the keys on the four points tips for ways to have a cool summer. So check out the audio.
It is not normal for your unit to take refrigerant every single year. The unit is not using up refrigerant, it uses refrigerant. This as your body. If your body starts spewing blood out of your arm, okay, we shouldn't be spewing blood. I shouldn't need more blood unless I'm losing blood, right? So I shouldn't need more refrigerant unless I'm losing refrigerant. If you're leaking refrigerant and you need refrigerant in your system, it's because you're having a leak and you need to fix the leak so you stop spending the money every single year on one or two pounds of R22 or R410 a whatever the refrigerant is. That way you have a sealed system. It should not be leaking out again. You don't need to recharge that unit every single year. It uses refrigerant, but it doesn't use up the refrigerant and need more. Obviously, if it's running low in a refrigerant, kind of like your body running low on blood, you're going to have a problem, right? So if you don't have enough blood, you'll have a problem. If your system doesn't have enough refrigerant, you will also have problems. So get the leak fixed. See what the cause is. Instead of putting band aids on it, which is adding more refrigerant, actually go to the cause and stop it.
