448. Ozone at Home
28 Jan 2026 · 5 min
Podcast episode (host Derek Cole, guest Speaker B) explaining use of UV/UVV and ozone-related technology for treating indoor air—particularly odors and off-gassing from building materials—via in-duct devices (air scrubbers and coil scrubbers). The guest emphasizes safety concerns about ozone exposure, the principle of treating air in the duct system rather than saturating living spaces, and practical reassurance that treated output levels can be lower than outdoor ozone. Episode closes with Derek Cole's call-to-action to share, review, and visit simmons1hour.com.

UVV is left, you might have heard before, is ozone. You know, a while back, people got in trouble for, for selling ozone generators. Now we don't do that. We don't have ozone generators, but we do have a spectrum of light called uv. So when you install what we call our air scrubber, we have the UV light and we have a 5 inch UVV light which controls the pit and toxic odors in your home. Now what does that mean? If you have anything in your home that is compressed wood cabinets, glued together, paint on the wall, carpet, all that stuff is off gassing into your living space. Now the challenge is we all have tighter homes these days than they had years ago. So in the old days, homes could breathe and air could flow through the homes. We don't have that going on today because we have energy efficient homes. So all those toxic odors and gases, they get trapped in our indoor space. So we go back to yesterday, we learned that, you know, it's a top five health concern of indoor air quality. And part of that is because of odors and these things off gassing in your home. So the way to handle that is with UVV or ozone. Now, ozone is very dangerous. If you know, I put 100% ozone in this room, I would have no odor or gas from. But the problem is that I wouldn't be staying here. You couldn't live in that kind of space. So the challenge or the thing to do is to treat it in the duct system. So when William talked to you about a duct system, that's where treating with the UV and the uvv, the air scrubber and the coil scrubber, we're treating the air in that space, not the whole house. We're treating the air in the duct system. You don't treat all there at one time. It's kind of like a swimming pool. If you guys have pools or have been, you know, they have chlorine tablets, you can either sit on the water and they disperse or it's under the ground where some of the water comes in and gets treated and goes back out. It's the same thing we're doing with uv. We're treating the air as it comes through, not all there at one time. Actually, when you measure out the grill, the amount of ozone our products has to create, the number is less than if you were outside. I had a homeowner kind of concerned about this one time, which is a valid concern. His wife had some, his wife had some breathing problems. And he said to me, you know, can she do this? And I basically said, is she able to go outside? He said, yes. I said, the levels we're actually treating inside your home, coming out of the grill, the level is less than that of outside. So if she can go outside and not grow, she'll be fine in the house and not have a problem. But the goal of UVV is to find a gas molecule and kill it. So between pets and things off gassing, that is what's causing the indoor air.
Challenge in your house.
And we can handle that with the uv.
