Here are 10 energy saving tips for more energy and cost effective lifestyle at home. Energy saving has its benefits that go beyond just saving costs. When you save energy, you help protect the environment by reducing your carbon footprint. Number one. Here are ten tips. Number one, Turn off the appliances in lights when you're not using them. Simple enough, right? A simple way to save energy is to turn off appliances and lights when you're not using them. Turning off your television, computer, other electronic appliances can help reduce your energy bills significantly. Additionally, you can use smart strips or automatically turn off devices that are not in use. Number two, use energy efficient light bulbs. Another, you know, simple, simple, low cost thing. Replacing incandescent lights with LED efficient lights can help you save up to 8, 80% on electricity cost. Light bulbs just by changing the LED lights can save you up to 80%. LED light bulbs use less energy and last longer than traditional light bulbs. It's really a win. They last longer, they use less energy. Up to 80% savings just on light bulbs. Number three, use energy efficient appliances. If you're in the market for new appliances or upgrading your old appliances, opt for the energy efficient models now. They usually cost more initially up front, the cost is more than different styles. But the energy efficient models cost more but will save you money on your energy and your bills. Over time they are more efficient. Number four, Seal of drafts. Air leaks around doors, windows, outlets can increase your energy bills. Fill up these leaks with caulking, weather stripping or foam ceiling. And consider adding draft stoppers to exterior doors. Seal the leaks. I mean it will, it's mind blowing. The electrical outlets, light switches is. It's amazing how much, how much you can do to seal those around your home. I know when we first in, first moved into our first home deployment, pipes, water pipes, everything was open to the crawl space and the environment. So one of the first things we did was seal those gaps with foam because it's just wasting energy. Plus we live next to a field and, and meister coming in. They were coming through all these souls. So number four, seal up drafts. Number five, use a programmable thermostat. Even better, use a program, in my opinion, programmable WI Fi thermostat. Use the program, set it away, set it for when you get home. Use the WI Fi, get an app. You can put the app on your phone simply. If you don't want to use a program, use your app, you know, to turn the temperature up, turn temperature down, whatever needs to happen. There are so many cost effective ways that you can control the temperature in your House and your H VAC unit, our specialty is one of the biggest appliances in your home. So take advantage of that. Number six, wash clothes and cold water. It's something we always do. The only time I use hot water is if something needs. Something is on the sheets, something is on the clothes and I feel like it needs to be disinfected more. I will use it warm or, or hot water, but usually, usually we're doing cold. About 90% of energy used by washing machines goes towards heating the water instead. Hanger washing clothes and cold water is just efficient, just as efficient and can help reduce your energy bill. Sorry, I jumped my dad there. But number seven is air dry clothes. Using the dryer, using dry consumes a lot of energy. So if you have the ability and can take those clothes outside, there's benefit to that one. They can dry naturally. You have the power of the sun. You have the national natural. You have the natural air freshener of the outside of ozone. Uva, uvb, uvc, uvv, all those spectrums of light you can use on your clothes. And they smell. I mean, back in the, back in the old days, I'm getting, I'm getting pretty old. Back in the old days, you know, when you, your parents, you know, use clotheslines to, you know, hang your sheets or whatever outside and they always smell so fresh when they came back inside. Well, that's all natural. That's all outside for free, provided by the sun and nature. So whenever you can do it, do it. Number eight, don't block your vents. Make sure your vents are not obstructed by furniture or drapes. Block vents can result in inefficient airflow, which makes your heating and cooling system works, work harder. I've seen it so many times in almost. Whether it's furniture or even shoes, you know, blocking vents, blocking airflow. Make sure everything is open and flowing freebie so the system can get the air it needs and you don't have a challenge with it being stopped up. Number six, low flow shower heads. Now, I've never tried this, but a low flow shower head can help you save water and energy at the same time. They use less water but still have good water pressure. Now, if you're anything, if you're anything like me, you'd like a good water pressure. So these devices, according, you know, to studies, use less water but still give you that good water pressure. Like, like I said, I personally have not used them unless I've been in like a hotel. I guess that might be in there, but definitely not in my house yet. I need to upgrade. Number 10, maximize natural light. So important in the winter time, especially to let the light come in and warm your home. That way you get the warmth from the sun into your home. Now, in the summer is the opposite way. You want to, you want to keep the light out, which will warm up your home. You want to keep as much heat out as you can. So it's the opposite way in the summertime. You want to keep the white out. But these are just, you know, 10 tips, a few energy saving tips. They help you save money on your energy bills, reduce your carbon footprint, and having more energy efficient home. And these are things that are not causing a lot of issues from your everyday life. I mean, these are 10 simple tips that can help you save money.
