What's up, everyone? Welcome back to the Home and Life Comfort Podcast. My name is Derek Cole. Welcome to it. Today we will discuss how to improve your indoor air quality at home. Does anybody here raise your hand? I can't see you. Does anybody here want to improve their indoor air quality at home? I think so. I think it's important to everybody. I think it's maybe possibly something you haven't even thought about, right? Indoor air is critical for a healthy and comfortable living environment. Poor indoor air quality can lead to health issues, including allergies, asthma, respiratory problems. Fortunately, there are several tips homeowners like us, like yourselves can take to enhance the air quality at home. Step one. It sounds almost too simple. Step one, Keep your home clean. Keep your home clean. It sounds so easy. But one of the most effective ways to be to improve indoor air quality is to maintain a clean home. Dust, allergens, pollutants, all these can accumulate on surfaces and in carpets, contributing to the poor indoor air quality. So how do I. Maybe you're asking how do I keep a clean home? Vacuum regularly. Use the vacuum with the HEPA filter. Dust furniture and services. Wash bedding frequently. Sheets, pillowcases, blankets, all should be washed every single week to reduce allergens. Think about, kind of stay here for a minute. But when you think about everything you go through, what you wear, the environments you're in, and then you lay down, right? That stuff has to go somewhere, right? And use doormats. Place doormats at the entry of your home. Take your shoes off at the door. It's a big thing in our house. Leave your shoes at the door. Take your shoes off. Do not bring in whatever was outside into the house. Number two, control humidity levels. How do you. How do you even do that? High humidity levels can contribute to growth and dust mites, which can worsen the indoor air quality you're breathing. So you want to aim for indoor humidity to be between 30 and 50% still. Derek, how do I do that as I get a drink? Sorry, it's water with life delays. If I'm slurring, it's because I have a. I have multiple sclerosis. It's not because. It's not because I'm drinking. Drinking alcohol. So here's how to control immunity. You could use the dementivar. Of course, your air conditioner on your H Vac system is a dehumidifier. But you may need extra help. Then lay bathrooms, kitchens. Use exhaust fans to remove the moisture during showers or and cooking. Fix leaks. Repair any leaks in Your home's roofs, walls or plumbing to help prevent growth. Number three, Improve ventilation. Proper ventilation is essential for reducing indoor air pollutants. Here's how you do it. Open windows. Allow fresh air to circulate in the home now, not during the humid summer. Do not open the wind the windows during the humid summer, but following the spring when temperatures are 70 and humidity is low. Get some fresh air. Get some fresh air. How can you improve ventilations? Go Back to other 1. Use exhaust fans or install a System H vac system with a fresh air intake ERV. They can bring outdoor air in, improve circulation, take the bad air out, bring fresh air in heat or cool it. Depend on season. Boom. There you go. You have improved ventilation. Number four, Use air purifiers. Air purifiers can effectively remove pollutants. You want to choose those that have filters. And you want to use whole home purifiers, not the ones for just one room. Why treat an area when you can treat the whole home, right? Instead of placing portable purifiers where you spend the most time, such as living rooms or bedrooms, why not get a whole home solution? You're in your whole home. Why not get out whole home solution Number five Avoid indoor pollutants. Certain products and activities can introduce pollutants into your home. They are volatile organic compounds. So you want to opt for using low voc products. Paint, cleaning products. Other things that clean your home that's labeled as low voc. Avoid smoking indoors. Tobacco smoke contains. I'm sure you know this by now, but tobacco smoke contains numerous harmful chemicals. It bespoke. Just do it outside, don't do it inside. And limit the use of artificial fragrances. Air freshers, Cindy candles. All these release chemicals into the air. Opt for natural alternatives like essential oils instead of air fresheners. Number six, Maintain your H Vac system. Your H Vac system plays a significant role in maintaining indoor air quality. Regular maintenance ensures it operates efficiently and effectively. Change your filters on a regular basis. Basis. It's recommended every one to three months for proper airflow and filtration. And schedule professional inspections. Have your H Vac tech go out there, inspect the system. Clean the system. Make sure you're good to go for the upcoming season. So I'll leave with this. Improving indoor air quality is essential for a healthy home environment. Those with those six? Yeah, those six steps you can follow. Indoor air quality is important to you and your family. If you don't have it, you can get it. Indirect quads is important. This. This is the air you breathe inside the home every single day. Make sure it's the best.
