Home and Life Comfort with Derek Cole. Hey y', all, it's Derek Cole here with Simmons. One hour heating and air. Simmons, one hour. Thanks for tuning in today. We're just going to get straight to it. The first muggy heat of the summer is about to slap us right in the face. Now I don't say that scare you. I'm saying it because it's true. If your air conditioner isn't ready, you're going to find real fast, the hard way. So let's talk about how you can stay cool, stay smart and not end up sweating it out in your own living room. Look, the first real human heat wave always feels worse than the rest of the summer. The heavy sticky air hits hits you the the second you step outside. Now you know what? Your AC feels it too. Your AC feels it as well. Your system has been cruising through the spring, barely breaking a sweat and now boom. It's going to work overtime to keep up. If you don't get ahead of it, it's going to get ahead of you. Which you don't want. Alright, so what do you do? Three things you got to do right now to get your home ready. Number one, get your AC tuned up now. Not well. It worked last year. It'll be fine. Nope, nope. You need a real professional tune up. We're talking cleaning the coals, checking the temperatures, tightening electrical connections, the whole deal. Skipping it is like skipping it is kind of like driving your truck cross country without ever checking the oil. It's not a question of if it breaks, it's more of a question of when is it going to break. Number two, seal up the house. You've got cool air leaking out all around your windows, doors, crawl spaces, duct system. You're throwing your hard earned money out the window. Literally. Literally, you're throwing it out the window. Get some weather stripping, seal the cracks, insulate. It's simple stuff. It's the simple stuff that makes the big difference. Now number three, new thermostats. They're sharp. I mean, I love them, they're great. I've installed them at my house. Set up, set it up to cool when you need it. Ease off, maybe raise the temperature when you don't need it. Keeps you comfortable, saves you money, takes a load off the system. It's just good common sense. And their WI fi enabled so you can access it if you have a connection. You can access your thermostat at home from anywhere. Now what if your AC is struggling? Few tips for you. Number one, check your filter. If it Looks like a dust bunny threw a party in there. It's time to change it. Check your filter. Next. Make sure your vents aren't blocked by any furniture or rugs. Now you wouldn't believe how many calls we get because a couch is in front of a van or or the Venice closed in general. And don't forget your breaker box. Sometimes it's flipping a switch. If that breaker is constantly tripping, you have a problem. But that's something that we can look at. Something you need a professional to look at. Don't get in that breaker box and stay in there. It's not for you to play with. Now if none of that fixes it, call somebody you trust. Don't wait until the whole thing locks up on the hottest day of the year to make that phone call. Go ahead and make the switch right now. I had an article a few weeks ago that said make the switch. Now is a good time to make the switch again. Make the switch, turn on your cooling and see if it is working. If you have not had that tune up, get it. Every summer. Every summer we see it. Folks waiting it out because they waited too long. Now these are good people, hard working families and frankly it breaks my heart because it's avoidable. You can avoid having this trouble. Go ahead and make the switch. Check your cooling. But that's why we're here. Simmons. One hour. We make it easy. You can book online, book your AC service now. You can join our smart comfort club and get priority service, annual maintenance and discounts all year long. No stress, no surprise breakdowns.
