In this YouTube short, HVAC veteran Derek Cole warns North Carolina homeowners not to assume their heating system will work simply because it performed well last winter. Drawing on 25 years of experience, he explains that during the long AC‑focused season many heating components sit idle for months, which can lead to unexpected failures when winter arrives. He urges viewers to schedule a heating system inspection now, before the cold weather sets in, to avoid waking up to a cold house.
Worked fine last winter, so why would you even consider— why would you even believe it's not going to work this winter? Well, after 25 years in this business heating and AC, I've seen that assumption being made by homeowners so many times, and they find out it's wrong after they wake up to a cold house. Here in North Carolina, we spend the majority of our time worried about air conditioning. And during that time, depending on the type of equipment you have, parts of your heating system have not operated for months and months. If you haven't had your heating system inspected this season, I would encourage you strongly to do that now before the cold weather stays and now you're calling like everyone else with heating problems.
