229: Why Self-Paced Courses Are Dying—and What’s Replacing Them

Monica Froze, an AI educator and digital-product strategist, explains why self-paced courses with lifetime access are failing: they create endless update and support burdens. Memberships and subscriptions solve this by letting creators charge for continuous updates like live workshops and coaching. She's building custom GPTs to scale personalized support.
Foreign.
Welcome to the Creators MBA Podcast, your go to resource for mastering the art and science of digital product entrepreneurship. My name is Dr. Destiny Kopp and I help business owners generate consistent revenue from their digital product business without the need to be glued to their desks, constantly live launching or worrying about the social media algorithms. I hope you enjoy our episode today and my special guest today is Monica Froze. Monica is a digital product strategist, AI educator and founder of Empowered Business and the Empowered Shop. She's a former corporate marketing leader turned seven figure entrepreneurs and she helps business owners scale through digital products, AI and e commerce. And Monica, I am super excited to chat here with you today.
Yeah, well, I feel like I'm a dinosaur in online business. I've been doing this for 12 years. It started in 2013 with my first brand, which I'm now heavily invested in relaunching. It's called Redefining Mom. And really it started as just like a typical blog. And for me it was a place to vent about maternity, the lack of maternity leave policies in the US I had really bad postpartum ptsd. I almost died in childbirth with my first and I just was angry. I worked in corporate America and I felt like I when I heard this stat that 25% of women go back two weeks after giving birth, I was like, this is ridiculous and someone's got to say something about it. And it led me to end up in this roundtable with President Obama where I got to talk about it and he challenged me to do something with my platform because at the time I thought I was just going to be a corporate girl for the rest of my Life. So in 2016, I ended up quitting my corporate job and that's when I started developing digital products. And I always say, like, nobody really called them digital products in 2016. I just knew that my audience had these problems and that I could help solve them. So, like, my first digital product was a spreadsheet, the family budget spreadsheet. We still sell it today. But funny enough, now I'm trying to move it into a micro app because welcome to the world of AI. And now that's something we can do. I also became like the go to person for Pinterest advertising before anyone else was teaching it. So that led me to meet the CEO of Pinterest. So I've had a windy road and then I was like, I don't want to talk about Pinterest interest anymore. It was fine. But when you build your business on someone else's platform, that's very difficult every time they change something. Then they went public and it was just like, I want more control over my life here. And so then I launched Empowered Business in the Empowered Shop. And that's. Since then, that's like 2020. We've been educating people on how to create high converting digital products which eventually led into the shop model because we taught people to create so many products that were like, we can't have 40 different sales pages, so let's get a shop. So that took off and now we're in the age of all things AI and literally everything we touch in our business. If we're not especially in the B2B side, if we're not talking about AI, like you're just going to get left behind. That's the conclusion I've come to and.
That'S really what we're going to talk about today. But as you were going through your story, it reminded me of something. I was in a one on one with you years ago. I actually forgot about this until you start talking about it. I had bought your Pinterest ads course because I was gonna do some Pinterest ads. I don't remember what it was, but as part of that I got a one on one. And that's when I first met you. But that was years ago and I had almost forgotten about it.
It's so funny too because so many people have stayed in my ecosystem since then. Like I just got someone asking me if she could work one on one with me and she was raving about my Pinterest course. I mean that I retired that and 2019 and I'm. It's just, it's funny how, how long people can stick around in your world.
Yeah, for sure. Well the. And that demonstrates the importance of being consistent. And even though you might switch and pivot, people will hang on and still be. So we're going to talk about a topic today that we're both extremely passionate about and that's all things AI. We're in digital products, we do courses, that sort of thing. And I'd really love to get your perspective on where we're going in the industry with these self study type courses. I have opinions on it and I know you do too. So I'd love for you to kind of lead the conversation there.
All these courses I've just told you about the practical promotions, the course that we created to help people create their digital products. It's called the Empowered Business Lab. Then the digital shop experience is how we teach people to do shops. They are Self paced courses. Now in the history of me launching, I've done different models like I've done eight week cohorts to get you through it. We've done ones where it was just simply, hey, you get access to the material, you make your way through it and you can join our membership if you need support. The issue that we're having is that like eight week cohorts are not sustainable because I have to spin the sales cycle every single time. Right. So after that eight weeks over, now I got to go and launch again to get the next one out and you end up burning out and it doesn't work. The flip side of that is you can't just hand a meaty course off to people now and expect them to see it through. Because so many things. One, there's the perception that everything's available through AI. I don't actually subscribe to that because when I look at my programs they are so thorough. And if you don't know what you're asking, what to even ask ChatGPT, you're not going to get the level of support that and the knowledge that I have in my course out of it. However, because of AI and the illusion that you can get anything you want out of it, people are like, they need something else from you. It's not enough to just hand them over 50 videos and be like, have fun, go build your shop. They don't want that. And I've been kind of alluding to my own audience. I keep calling it the Monica seal of approval. I have to figure out how to give them my seal of approval on what they're doing, but in a scalable way. And so these sales cycles of every eight weeks, I have to launch every eight weeks. It's not sustainable. And it's like basically like my mom says, taking the round peg and putting it in the square hole. People don't want self paced courses anymore. They want you to get them through it. So that's now where I'm at with how do I reimagine. I know my stuff is good, but I also know I have to think through how to get people through it in a different way. In the age of AI, especially because everything's changing rapidly. So the second I get a module done, it's almost like it's outdated. So it's just like the way we've done courses has to change.
Yeah. And, and I think especially in certain industries things are moving like so fast. It's almost very, it's almost impossible. Right. To do that self Paced course. I was thinking about your, your Pinterest course that you had years ago.
Could you.
I mean if you're using somebody else's platform, I would never wanna do a course on that, like a standalone course, because it's always changing.
Well, and so when I was doing the Pinterest ads course, that was the height of digital courses where everything was lifetime access and it came with a Facebook group. So it was absurd because. And when I cl, I got the most flack for closing down the Facebook group that went with it. I gave a six month warning. Think about this. Someone like, let's say they bought the beta round so like 2 97, maybe 197 and they got access to this Facebook group on a topic that was very dynamic and changing. You had to be on top of it in order to teach it. And they just had this perpetual access to me. So I was the more it kept getting bloated where I had. I was on the hook to provide all the support for someone who was not ongoing paying me. And I had to keep launching constantly while updating the content. Every time Pinterest changed. And in a way, AI does remind me of the pickle I was in with pimpractical promotions because it's kind of similar. AI is changing things so fast that I have to be up on updating things very fast. But also I can't just keep updating it for people who paid me one time to be in that program and that's it. And that's why self study just isn't working. Because there's this perception now that like if you paid me 497 for the Empower Business Lab, every time I update it with the new AI strategy, you're going to get access to it, but you're not paying me anymore. So how do I run an efficient business like that?
Yeah, honestly, you can't. And that's kind of the writing on.
The wall that I saw.
I probably saw this about a year, year and a half ago. And that's when I completely changed really my business model and I moved to these memberships because I'm like, okay, things are changing so quickly that with a membership model I can do like monthly live workshops that's dynamic and up to date and really answering the questions that people are asking right then. But I'm also getting paid for it. And that's the conclusion that I came to. I'm just curious as to what your thoughts are on that.
Well, after me and you talked, because you were on my podcast, it really Got my wheels turning when you were explaining why you pivoted to these memberships. Because I do have a membership, it's low cost and I started positioning it about two years ago as a support arm because basically I had all these self paced courses and I'm like, I cannot have five different Facebook groups, five different zooms I have to show up to every single week for different topics. So it's kind of like my umbrella. But I'm realizing that I think I need to get basically in the membership model, but some more niche and I don't know if that's going to be okay. So let me step back and explain what happened with the Empowered Business Lab, because I think this really illustrates it well. So the first iteration of the Empowered Business Lab was in early 2021 and we've had, I think about 2,000 people go through it and we've had so many great digital products come out of it. The framework is still solid how you create a digital product. Yeah, the tools might change, but like the logic and the strategy of what people want out of a product. It did. That didn't change. So AI comes around and in early 2025 I'm like, all right, if I don't update this course for AI, I really can't even sell it anymore because people expect AI strategy with digital products now. So here I go and do a cohort to get through it, right? So I'm getting live advice as I'm updating it and it was really prompt based. I finished updating it in April and guess what? Nobody even wants prompts anymore. They want the custom GPTs. They want to, they want the, the Monica bot, right? All of my knowledge put into a bot that they can talk to me 247 like you said, that you have in your membership. And I'm like, okay, so here's the conundrum. So now I have these people. Several hundred people have bought the AI version and it was positioned as a self study course. When the cohort was over, they could go into the membership if they still wanted support for me. But they expect updates, right? If I'm going to do an update, they don't expect to pay for it again. And so now I'm going to be launching the three GPTs for it and my bot essentially, which really they should have to pay extra for. I think what I've decided I'm going to do is I'm going to do one more webinar pitching it with these added benefits. So anyone who's already bought it will get the three GPTs and they'll get. It'll get my bot if they. There'll be that final webinar where I'm like, here, here's the enhancements going into this. This is the last time you can buy this program like this.
Yeah.
And then I think I'm going to have to move it into some sort of subscription where it is like the timeliness of, okay, this new tool's out now and this is changing the way we're looking at digital products. Or, hey, like, even, like how we read our data and how, like traffic. Like, there's just so much that's changing constantly. And I can't just keep updating this and be like, okay, you guys, I'll get it for free.
It's just.
And it's honestly kind of wild to me that it's the exact same conundrum I had running a Pinterest course.
Yeah. And I can completely relate to everything you're saying there because I had the same, like, issue with. I have two, like, flagship type courses that I sell. One's my Course in a Box program. Few thousand people, right, have gone through that. I updated about a year, maybe a year ago, maybe a year and a half with all the AI prompts. Well, now I need to go back and update it again with all the custom DB days. The same with my funnel tier course. And it is a lot of work to go in and do all of that. And I'm like, should I do that or should I just, you know, crawl in into the membership? But I completely understand. I do want to ask you a question here because we have, you know, B2B business owners, but also a lot of B2C business owners that listen to this and they might be experiencing a little bit different things with their courses. I'm thinking about a lot of the hobby because I have the hobby school brand, the B2C brand. I'm thinking about, you know, a lot of those type of experts. Do you feel like that if you run into this maybe with your B2C brand, do you think they're feeling the same thing or what are you seeing there?
Well, I, when I relaunched Redefining mom, so while Redefining mom always was functioning in the background, I always made passive money because of the funnels I had and was indexed and all that stuff. I didn't have any focus on it. Nothing new was launched. So I didn't launch anything new until this year. And I approached it, the B2B felt like it was a runaway train that I had to like fix. But when I went and approached the B2C there's a few things that occurred to me. One was that I do think, and this is not going to be straight for every nation, B2C but I think it's pretty like, like standard here. B2C people are going to be, they're behind the curve of us and B2B with AI, right. And so knowing that I was like, okay, I'm not doing a super like meaty course on the B2C side. I want to be nimble. So I went the workshop route and so I'm doing things and I actually peeled back the onion and I said, okay, let's address especially with where we're sitting in the current economic stage like it is. There's a lot of. We're being bombarded with the news, there's so much uncertainty. And I think it's really making people really be careful where they're putting their money. Like definitely buying behavior. Like I've gone through several election cycles in the business and by this time usually that has worn off and it's kind of business as usual on both sides. It is not business as usual. So the way I started approaching redefining MOM was I wanted to, I wanted to be in the forefront of helping moms with AI. But like you can still help moms with AI in the more basic form like the prompting and stuff like that. I just started coming up with the custom GPTs for them. But what I was thinking was let's address core needs. So I was like, what are core needs that moms have that AI could help improve? And so I was like meal planning, we all need to eat. Budgeting, we all money, childcare basically for. Because my audience is very much has like the kids that are school age still free childcare. And I actually learned a ton putting together this AI workshop by the way. Like I didn't even realize how much stuff there was in Buffalo I could do with my kids in the summer that's free. I'm who. Who knew? Thank you Chat GPT. I learned all that stuff. So I think that self paced courses and B2C are. This is, this is a tough one because I think you can get away with it longer than in B2B. But I think it's going to bite you. I think you should like take the lesson now and not be put in the predicament that me and you have put in because we were like ahead of the curve. So it's kind of like you're the B2C market's going to catch up eventually, so it's coming for you.
Yeah. So here's kind of what I've been seeing like in hobby school. I feel like with some of the teachers who are teaching like craft stuff, you know, they're demonstrating, they're showing you how to do something. Maybe it's like watercolor painting or playing the piano or learning guitar or whatever. I feel like, you know, they're still kind of demonstrating that they might be doing like workshops and stuff. So we have a lot of that in hobby school. So I feel like that's pretty ever green that's going to continue like that. Where I have seen a change of what we've started doing with some of our journals and planners and that sort of thing is incorporating even going beyond the AI prompts, doing the custom GPTs there. But I think it's even going to go further than that. Like those micro tools that you've been talking about, like one of the things that we're doing, we're actually hosting it this month is the Organized Living Summit. So a lot of that's kind of timely. But some of those tools and resources and stuff that we bundle in with that particular event, you can definitely pull in some of those micro tools or those custom TPTs to help them there.
I think we're in a very unique position because of the fact that we sell B2B and B2C. And it's funny because I think you probably will resonate with this when you're just. If you just do B2B sometimes there can be some criticism out there that you don't understand B2C. And I think this is why I like talking to you. Because we, we recognize it. I'm like, no, we have a B2C arm. So actually we understand what B2C people are also going through, which makes us better B2B teachers. But I think it's. We're in a unique position because B2B is moving so fast that we can really make sure that we're not like every roadblock we run into on the B2B we can make sure that we're not replicating it on the B2 cuz it's going to catch up to it.
Oh, for sure, for sure. I completely agree with you on that. I want to switch gears just a little bit because I know a lot of people who are listening. They have some type of digital shop or they might want to. Right? It might be like a WordPress Shopify plugin or a Woocommerce plugin or whatever. So I'm just curious because I really haven't delved into this that much, with the exception of figuring out how to incorporate AI into products. I'm just curious as to where you see AI going with the digital shops.
Okay, so what I think is going to end up happening and what's going to become really important. So I always think it's funny when these conversations come up because I do feel like I've always taught from a very strategic place and the core principles don't change. I always say that the core principles of marketing your shop, running your shop don't change. It's the tactics around it. And AI is a tactic really like the buying how you get someone to buy your stuff. And understanding like human psychology and marketing to them doesn't really change. And so one of the things that I've when I teach for shops, I always said if your return customer rate was 25% or below, you weren't emailing your list enough. But if it was like 60 to 70%, that means you were running into audience fatigue and you weren't bringing in enough leads. So I've always taught from the perspective that the value of your shop is your return customers and the sweet spot is like 45 to 50%. So when you think about that, when someone comes to your shop and they're a return customer, a repeat customer, tailoring the experience to them of what have they already bought, understanding what comes next in your buying suite and kind of meeting them where they're at based on all the data you have is going to be, I think, what happens next. And nobody has solved for it yet. I just hosted a call with a bunch of shop owners and you were on it too. This was a huge topic of discussion because it's like a huge missed opportunity. A lot of people that I teach are really good at getting people back to their shop. But once you're there and you have, I mean, I have like 120 public products, let alone if you search my shop, you can find a lot more that are not in the public. Navigation and if you think about it like there's only so much you can do to lead people on a customized journey. I mean, because you also have to set up your shop in a way that new people understand it too. That is, I think, the biggest thing that's going to end up changing. And I'm hoping, I don't know why Shopify hasn't figured this out yet. I feel like it's a miss on their Part that they have the Shopify Shopify inbox, which can connect customer data and previous purchases. But it's not proactive. And I feel like that is where we haven't gotten to with Shopt to be proactive. That, oh, they recognize this return customer and now we can make suggestions on what's next. It knows exactly what. It knows what they searched, it knows what they've bought. That's where I see it going.
I know that Salesforce does it. Cause my son worked with Salesforce and he worked on a lot of these solutions, right? These dynamic websites. When somebody goes to that website, they understand that they've been there before and they know, like, what they might be searching for. I'm sure Shopify is going to get there soon.
Yeah, because here's the thing. Big enterprises, you know, these big e comm companies, sure, they have a development team that's working on this stuff and can get this out, but when we're dealing with our solopreneur shops or maybe have a VA or so that's what AI has been so powerful for us in, like the small business side of things, because it's giving us access to things that we could not ever get access to because we're not big enterprises. We don't have those development budgets. And so I'm like chomping at the bit. It's funny because originally I decided I knew I had to update the Empowered Business Lab first, which is the program on how to actually create and sell your digital products. And then I knew I was going to have to update the digital shop experience for all my people who are now, okay, we got our funnels cranking and I need. I need a shop. And I. The reason I hosted the think tank that I did about it was because I wasn't going to go sit there and update it until I knew what people needed. It was great to get a room of shop owners because we're all seeing the same thing, like, okay, the power of AI. Now these tools should be available. Why are they not? Like, they should be readily available, like, even from AppSumo. I've been like searching on there every day. I search AppSumo like my new hobby. Nobody's really coming up with a solution for shops, though. I've seen some solutions for standalone platforms that are competing with Shopify, but I would never do that because I would not recommend going on a new app to run your shop because if they shut down, you know, I need Shopify, who has the infrastructure and all of that set up with millions of shops to get their act together with the solution for us or on Shopify app. A lot of my Shopify apps I was digging into have an AI component to it, but it's not very sophisticated. Like frequently Bought Together, for example, has an AI component. That's my app that I use to recommend bundles. So at the bottom of my product descriptions it'll say, hey, basically if you're interested in this product, you're probably also interested in these. I set those up manually because their AI is supposed to be like okay, buying behavior. We know people who buy this also buy that. But it was giving like off the wall recommendations. Like someone who is buying like my start your AI engines course. You want these random Pinterest Canva templates. I'm like bet no. So I don't know why it's behind. I would love to be on the forefront of figuring it out.
They're going to have to figure it out because they've got to get there. Eventually they do it.
Can you imagine what we could do if our customers come to our shop and proactively we can produce to them? We know exactly what you've bought, we know exactly what you've searched and this is exactly the next thing that you need from us. Think of how what that would do for our sales.

Yes, that's exactly what we need. And I know it can be done because I know e commerce businesses out there who are doing exactly what what you're describing and they're tying that into their email and giving those customers very specific recommendations for, you know, based on what they're clicking on.
And I have noticed that, that the I use kit. Do you use kit?
Yes, I do.
Okay, so I ran into A little bit of an issue with Kit in the last week or so and let's hope that they fix because in theory what they're trying to do is amazing. And it's very similar to what we're talking about here with basically being able to email dynamically based on like in this case it was a Thinkific integration. So I've been on thinkific since 2016. I have hundreds and hundreds of courses and 60,000 students in my course platform. But since 2016 so not all those people have continued on my email list. Right. So they came up with this integration and if it, if they can get it to work it would be amazing. Basically it's going to feed into. Into Kit all of not only. And you know I've always tagged what people buy but it's also going to mark where they are in the course, their course progression. So you can essentially be like okay, like this person's here. This is like a an add on tool or an add on GPT that I have and you can dynamically target them. Unfortunately what happened when I connected it though was it took everyone that had unsubscribed from my list over the last nine years and started rapidly adding them back in and I'm like, you can't do that. So I had to cut the integration unfortunately until they figure that out. But I see the writing on the wall and also I believe Kit's going to move that direction with Shopify. So you'll be able to dynamically because Klaviyo can do that now if you use Klaviyo, which is an email service provider that is connect it to Shopify. It's a Shopify based one kicks getting there and I do see that I would with how fast things are moving, I would be shocked if by the end of the year we are not able to really dynamically target where people are in our ecosystem based on their progress, based on what they're buying and give them unique offers.
Yeah. I was about to say we should have this conversation in six months and see see how it's changed. I could definitely see them getting there. I think that's where they're wanting to go. They're just not quite there yet.
I was shocked that they didn't anticipate that it was going to be a problem to take 60,000 people and just add them onto my list. Whether they want it to be or not, it is and it would have if I hadn't caught it. Like if I had just pressed the button and walked away from my computer. It would have also auto charged me thousands of dollars. It would have. I would have been upticked into, like, who knows how many tiers above where I am right now. And I'm like, guys, you can't. You got to fix.
All right, so I guess my last question is, and this is something that I've been struggling with a little bit too, on my own. I just want to get your thoughts on where community is going with AI and where do you see that?
Oh, that is such a good question. I will say this. I think finally we are seeing the move away from Facebook groups. Very few Facebook groups I'm in are actually engaging. And usually the ones that are, it's such a super hyper timely topic, or it's someone who has been building their community on there for years and people are trained to be there. Like Lizzie Goddard, for example. Her Facebook group's amazing. I love all the interaction in there, but that she's been cultivating that since like 2018 or something. The conundrum, though, is moving away from Facebook is still how do you get people to use a different platform and get them there? So what I think's gonna end up happening, and I'm very curious if you're gonna agree with this. I think we're gonna end up in community rooms live a lot more. I think it's swinging back to, like, you doing the live workshops inside of your membership. My monthly coffee chats where people can jump on Zoom with me, and we have these conversations like we're having right now. Facebook group's kind of dead. They use it for like, hey, I got this tech question, or I'm running into that issue. But it's not really where people are chatting with each other anymore. What do you.
I would agree with you on that. I mean, I've been in some, like, communities where there's for big names too, quite frankly, and they're completely dead. I mean, you got to do a lot of work to get people to engage in those type of communities. I mean, some people are really good at it and they have a talent for it. Just feel like for me, where I have decided to kind of place some my bets is those live workshops that you're talking about and also making sure that people get support through the private podcast. So if they do have questions and they can submit those questions at any time, they just go to a form, submit them. I'll answer them pretty immediately. I mean, I do them on a regular basis on the private podcast, and that's just how I've elected to my memberships. And I know there's different ways out there to do that.
So you do two, three things really. Then you have your bot that's educated on all your stuff, so they can technically ask you. I say this in air quotes, but your bot 24. 7. Or they could submit for your private podcast, which is very direct, interactive feedback. Plus other people are going to benefit from those questions. And then you do your monthly live workshops.
Yeah, do the monthly live workshops. And there's also resources there too. So there's going to be generally there's going to be like a custom GPT, you know, maybe even some AI prompts for people who aren't using chat, GPT and other resources for those workshops.
Do your memberships have a community platform?
No, I use Threadcart.
But you don't have a Facebook group or. No, I.
When I did and started these memberships, I was like, you know what, I know me, I'm not good at going on social media. And I just, I was like, you know what? I know me. And I know that if I add a Facebook group or any other type of platform, I'm going to hate it and I'm going to want to shut it down. And so I said, you know what, I'm going to design it in a way that works for me and my energy, but also making sure that everybody gets the support that they need. And that's what I decided to do.
And people are sticking around. Retention's good. Yeah. Do you do any outside of live workshops? Do you do any like informal get togethers?
Yeah. So I will do ask me anything type sessions and sometimes I will do like bonus bring in a guest. Like that's what I'm doing this month because I did the self paced type workshops in July because there's so many people on vacation. But I'm also bringing in guests to do like a live workshop in July.
This gives me so much hope, the fact that this is working for you because I see the writing on the wall about Facebook groups not being like, I used to run live challenges and our engagement would be off the hook in the Facebook group. And all these like summits that I'm in now, a lot of them are still trying the Facebook group when you go and it's crickets. It's only the summit host tagging people. And there might be 2 comments on the post. It's is nothing like what we see even four years ago. So it's. I've even toyed with the membership that I have now. The Support membership, axing the Facebook group, and maybe I will go. I'm definitely building out the bots. There's that. But I love the idea of you answering asynchronously on a private podcast. That's just. I'm really glad it's working for you. It's really giving me hope that I can do this too.
You definitely have to encourage people to ask questions. So I always say ask. Your challenge this month is to ask one question. They can do unlimited, but your challenge is to do one question.
Do you do like weekly or monthly? We call EM Digest Tour membership. Here's what's going on. Here are the upcoming events. Do you do that for your memberships?
Yeah. So weekly, every week I am sending out basically an email saying, here's the latest private podcast episode or here's our live workshop, or here's what I'm launching this week. I mean, they're getting a lot of value every single week.
Have you toyed at all with thinking about any community platforms that are off Facebook or you're just pretty much dead? Forget it. I'm.
I mean, if there was a large demand for it, I would do it, but I'm just, I'm worried about what that's going to take for me because I would feel obliged to go in there every single day and make sure that everybody's question was answered. I mean, that's just kind of how I operate and I'm trying to protect myself from that.
Yeah. Okay. When I really think about it, aside from some outliers, like I'm in some really active AI groups, but when you think about it, the leader can be so present because their whole business model is based on taking the leads from the Facebook group and turning them into buying customers. Whereas this is the opposite. We are taking the paid customers and then we have to support them. So it's just a different model. The other model is still working for some people where the insane value goes into the group for free and then they're buying. But if it's the opposite way, then what ends up happening, I think is we get people are paying us, but then we're stretched so thin with offering support like that that we can't be innovative for them because all we're doing is offering support and obviously feel obligated to because they're paying.
You know, and the other thing I should mention, because I think this is important for people who want more. That kind of one on one is this, you know, look at this for me or give me your feedback on That I do offer an upsell, which is my Wednesday boxer coaching, where they can go in and just ask me specific questions. And I really do like this model that I have set up. So it's, you know, it's fairly inexpensive, but they are paying extra for that.
That's so smart. You're so smart. I love this model, actually. That makes a lot of sense. You're not saying, hey, there's no way to access me one on one. It's just a different level to do.
So you're just paying just a little bit more. It's not a tremendous amount a month, but it is a little.
It allows to meet people where they're at because there are always going to be the people who are the independent workers that just. They'll ask the question when they have it and they'll go off and they're perfectly happy doing that. And then there will always be people who want a little bit more. So it's kind of the best of both worlds.
Monica, I have so much enjoyed our conversation today and thank you so much for joining me. Any last minute tips or anything you want to leave the audience with? That's. That's how I feel.
I have to say. I. Because I. I mentioned to you that I listened to your really great Mastermind podcast that you put out a couple weeks ago with your Mastermind friends. And I feel. One of the things I feel like I took away from it is when I really started diving into AI, I felt so overwhelmed by how rapidly it was changing. I've always felt like running an online business, you have to be adaptable fast. And that has always challenged my Type A. And I felt like I got really good at it because I had to. It was like, you adapt or you die right in this world. And it has sped up so fast with the things coming out. I feel like every day something has changed. And one of the things I took away after listening to that episode was that, you know what I gave. I've given myself permission to actually just have fun with it, to have fun with testing things out and not feel the pressure that I have to monetize it and just actually like, enjoying and being. I think it's allowed me to bring out my creative side. And so for someone who is Type A, I will say if you're struggling with, like, how to even get started or like, oh, my gosh, I'm gonna. I'm gonna jump on the wagon and then all of a sudden it's gonna be obsolete. Just have fun with it. It's actually has added so much value to my life when. When it went down, my chatgpt went down a couple weekends ago. Like, it forgot everything about me. And I was bugging out. It forgot me for 48 hours. And I was like, what am I gonna do with myself? My daughter's like, what, mom? It's a robot. And I'm like, but it knows everything about me. I don't even know. What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to be working up? What's the grocery list? It was just. She's like, whoa. But I mean, honestly, like, it. It can improve your life so much if you just give it a shot.
I love that. Just have fun with it. And I honestly, I'm like you. I love going on SMO and trying out new tools and playing around with them. So we just gotta enjoy it. So can you let folks know where they can find you, too?
Yeah. So basically, monicaprose.com is like the hub for everything. So whether you want to go explore Redefining mom, which we have a shop on, or you want to go explore the Empowered Shop, which is where all my B2B resources are, or if you want to listen to our podcast, the Empowered Business Podcast, everything can be found pretty much there@monicros.com and I'll make sure.
That those links are in the show notes. Thank you so much, Monica. This was so much fun. Thanks for listening all the way to the end. I hope you enjoyed this episode today. If you like the show, I'd appreciate a review on Apple Podcasts or your favorite podcast platform. Have a great rest of your day and bye for now.
