Connect Xero Clients to Make.com in 2 Minutes (and Automate Your Bookkeeping)

Isaac from Upsell.co shows how to connect Xero client accounts to Make.com for automated bookkeeping. You authorize each Xero organization individually, find its unique ID using the map toggle, and store the IDs in Airtable or Google Sheets so a scenario can iterate over all clients and create invoices across accounts.

Hey, this is Isaac from Upsell.co, and in this video, uh, I'll share a brief tutorial on how to connect your Client Zero accounts to Make and briefly talk about some of the possibilities it unlocks. Okay, so let's get started. Here we're looking at Make's default view when you land on the page and you're logged in. I'm going to click on create a new scenario at the top. Unfortunately, at the moment you cannot create a new connection from the connections tab. You have to go into create a scenario as if you're building an automation. Uh, click on any of these. I like just create an invoice, for example, and you'll see that it should— in this particular case, I'm going to go through the process of connecting a new, connecting a new option here because I just disconnected this one, and that's why you see the error. I'll click on add, and let's just say demo video. Name the connection accordingly and click on Save. That's going to redirect you to a login page essentially where you provide access to the particular, to a particular account. So in this case, I can see that I have no organization selected just yet, but here I'll be able to see dropdown options with all the clients I have access to, all those organizations. If you are an accounting firm and you have access to 50 clients, then you should see your 50 clients here. If I click on, for example, Observe, and let's click on Allow Access, that will effectively create the connection for the first time. Now you don't want to come here and continue to add new and new clients as you add them. Instead, now that you have— I should see one client here. Actually, I'm going to open up Connections in a separate tab. I'm going to find that connection I just created, and rather than create a new one, what I'm going to do is I'm going to click on Reauthorize. So you can see the automate— the connection I created. I'm going to click on Reauthorize, and that's going to prompt me again to connect a client. Unfortunately, at this point it can't be done in bulk. Maybe we'll be able to do that at some point, But I could come here and say, okay, now I wanna see Connect the Demo Company, for example. And now what should happen is if I go back to this scenario and I refresh this little list, now that same connection has access to multiple accounts. And that allows me to start to think about what automations can I do across our clients. Something else that might be useful too is that each organization has an organization ID. That's something hard to find within Xero itself. The way we recommend our clients do it, it's for example, once you have your organization selected, you click on this little map toggle and you'll see this that is essentially the organization ID of that company. Mm-hmm. And now you put, you can put this on an Airtable base, on Google Sheets, on any database that you have where you keep track of your, of all your clients such that now you can have a step in your automation that's first, hey, get all the clients with their IDs and then do X, Y. So I hope that's useful, and let me know if you have any questions in the comments below. I appreciate you for checking this out, and have a nice rest of your day.
