Dharmesh Shah says gratitude is his greatest leverage as an immigrant founder. He credits luck and opportunity for his success, noting another version of himself could still be in India. That awareness shapes how he approaches his work.

As an immigrant and person of color, what have been your biggest leverages and challenges? The greatest leverage that I've had is gratitude. There's literally like another 100 million of me in India still somewhere that could have been where I am. But I've had the good fortune of kind of winding up where I did. So I feel literally profound gratitude for the opportunities that I've had. And that's the greatest leverage.
