Mike Michalowicz argues that entrepreneurial success comes from being 100% authentic rather than conforming to external expectations. He points to Steve Jobs as an example, whose personal quirks like minimal button design helped him build a massive following and reshape culture.

Welcome to On a Roll, and now here's your host, Mike Michalowicz. I know what you want. My phone number. No, no, seriously, you want prolific success. I mean, what entrepreneur doesn't? That's what we're going to talk about on this episode of On a Roll. First, I'm going to unabashedly promote myself. The Pumpkin Plan, coming to your bookstore very soon, July 5th specifically. It's a great book, great read, and if you can't read English, pick Pick up the Russian version or the Korean version or the Chinese version. It's all versions that are coming out. That, by the way, is the Russian version of Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, but this is coming out in Russian too. So, you know, this is awkward now. I don't know where to go. Okay, let's talk about your prolific success. How do you get there? Now, this sounds crazy, but it's absolutely true. Be 100% honest. Unabashedly true to yourself. Be yourself fully. No more coloring in the lines. No more dressing like a rebel because the other rebels dress that way. Start doing what your inner calling is, what you really want to do. Don't do what other people ask. Now, it's easy to say, it's very hard to do. Very, very, very few people do it. Let's look at, like, Steve Jobs, for example. What a great recent case study. Prolific success. And why? Because he was unabashedly himself. I'm getting angry about it because I'm so fired up. Unabashed himself. He had his freaky quirkiness about buttons, and he wouldn't allow buttons into his products, or at least reduce them greatly. And look what happens. He has a huge following and has changed our culture forever. So for your success, Mr. or Ms. T.P.— you just look like a Mr. at the moment, you should put some makeup on. What? If you want to be successful, if you want to be a prolific success, be 100% authentically you. On the subject of being authentically true to yourself, I do have a side job. Kiss me.
