Using cold wet socks at night is a folk remedy that some people believe, and I sure do, can help with a variety of health issues such as colds, flu, fever, earaches, the list goes on. Now the idea behind this remedy is that the coldness of the socks can help increase blood circulation, shunting immune cells throughout the body and getting rid of waste products and fast. Now also by trapping the cold around your feet, it causes vasoconstriction and then vasodilation, which helps to increase blood flow and oxygenation in the body, so it can help to relieve a variety of symptoms. Like fever, congestion, cough, and more. Now, one of my favorite stories is one of my patients told me about her son's overnight fever relief. His fever was 103°F upon going to sleep, and all she did was put on the cold wet socks. Now, by morning, he woke up fever-free with energy to start the day. Now, I love hearing about these rapid improvements of symptoms, and you will love cold wet socks too.
