Short excerpt from a Mihail Pautov YouTube video (2025-01-05) in which an expert discusses optimal cold-shower exposure. The expert recommends brief exposures (30, 60, 90 seconds), states there are no extra benefits from staying longer than ~60 seconds, and suggests a practical approach: switch to cold at the end of a hot shower and stay about one minute.
Was was the minimum exposure you can have in the shower to have that increase and how long does it last?
Yeah, it's a good question because the timing is the key here. So I would recommend that if you do a cold shower which is feasible for most people doing cold showers for 30 seconds, 60 seconds and 90 seconds.
Yeah.
But what you can see is that there were no extra benefits from staying in the cold shower more than 30, 60 seconds.
Okay.
So you don't have to stay in the cold shower for more than a minute. That's enough. You don't get extra from that.
And that's a very good trick. So you can have the benefits even if you go in the morning into the hot shower and just switch to the cold and stay one minute in the cold. Yeah, I mean that's more acceptable I think for, for everybody.
