Short English-language excerpt from a YouTube video (host Mihail Pautov) about guiding misbehaving children. Speaker B recommends using direct relational responses (e.g., "ouch, that hurts"), stating clear, age-appropriate consequences without shaming, expressing calibrated anger without physical harm, and warns that excessive self-monitoring or suppression can lead to internalized symptoms or sudden outbursts.

If the child is not behaving well, how can we guide him being careful to not imply that he has to fix something? How do you balance this?
I understand with the parents it's going to be different than the teacher situation with the parent because it's an intimate relationship. The thing that is the most useful is something direct in the relationship. If you're screaming in my ear, rather than say, you should be ashamed of yourself, you're a bad boy, I should say, ouch, that hurts. Or I don't want to be around you when you're screaming in my ear. I'm not trying to put you down, I'm just saying if you keep doing that, I'm going to put you in your room. If you keep doing that, I'm going to walk away from you. I could even be angry within the limits of the child and the age. I'm not going to be angry by using my physical power to hurt a person. But I can say that I'm really angry. I can use my voice, I can use my strength. The first example, I have a genuine relationship with you and you kind of go, oh, I can trust that person because I know they're angry. I know they're upset with me. I know when they hurt, I hurt them. I'm kind of a little scared because they look really angry. That could be just fit just fine. As opposed to, you're a bad person. The bad person doesn't make a more intimate relationship and a better relationship. The child just starts monitoring themselves in a way that's not so good. And the same thing will happen, as I said before, if I'm suppressing myself because I'm a bad person and my self monitoring is so strong that I never act that way, it will come out. It'll come out internally, it'll come out in physical symptoms of energies, or it'll come out by bursting out.
