Revolutionize Your Health with Red Light - Episode 310
13 Nov 2025 · 47 min
Dr. Mike Renzulli, a Florida clinician, uses red-light therapy delivering over 10 million joules per 10-minute session to treat weight loss, inflammation, and metabolic issues. He combines it with GLP-1 drugs, hyperbaric oxygen, and genetic testing, but warns that GLP-1s alone cause muscle and bone loss without proper body-composition monitoring.

Think about this, people. Your body's absorbing all these different wavelengths of light, and we're talking about light guys, both visible and invisible. So if you think about the power or the elements that can truly heal the human body, we go back to fundamentals and basics. In my case, what I represent, what I understand, what I enjoy is the elements of the earth. What is that light, magnetism and oxygen. The reason why people are typically overweight, especially in the US with all these chemicals and toxins and preservatives. It's a nightmare, people. More so than you even realize. So what does that mean? We have inflammation. The reason why most people have this insulin sensitivity is and overweight is because of, number one, inflammation.
Welcome to the Gladden Longevity Podcast with Dr. Jeffrey Gladden, where our passion is helping you to become an AJ hacker. On this show, we want to help you optimize your life energy, longevity, health and human performance with impactful and actionable information by answering four questions. How good can we be? How do we make 100 the new 30? How do we live well beyond 120? And how do we live young for a lifetime? Now here's today's episode of the Glide and Longevity Podcast.
Welcome everybody to this edition of the Gladden Longevity Podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Jeffrey Gladden, and we're here today answering the big questions in life. How good can we be? How do we make 100 to new 30? How do we live young for a lifetime? How do we live well beyond 120? And how do we develop that 300 year old mind? And today I'm going to be interviewing a gentleman, Dr. Michael Renzulli out of Florida, who has really been focused on the development of red light therapy, also hyperbaric therapy. But this conversation is really going to focus on red light therapy and we're going to go deep on GLP1's weight loss, how it should be done effectively. I think you're going to enjoy this conversation. It was more than I was actually anticipating, so enjoy that. Welcome everybody to this edition of the Gladden Longevity Podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Jeffrey Gladden, and today I'm joined by the one and the only Dr. Mike Renzulli. Mike is coming to us out of really kind of the North Miami, South Palm beach area, someplace on the west east coast of Florida, rather. Mike, how are you? Good. Good to have you.
Pleasure. Thank you for having me.
Yeah. So I had the opportunity to go over and visit Mike's office and see some of the equipment that he has and we're going to end up talking about some of that. He's written a book about it. And Mike, tell us a little bit about how did you get into healthcare in general? Give us a little bit of your background. You were five years old and you said, when I grow up, I want to be in the healthcare space. Or how did that happen?
Well, that's a very good question. So I remember when I was like, literally five, six years old, I was walking down the street with my uncle, who's in the healthcare world as a doctor, and all of a sudden we turned around, we heard this boom, crash, turn around, and this guy down the block got hit. It was a pedestrian got hit by a car. My uncle went running over to him and doing cpr. And I remember somebody called the police and the ambulance and they showed up. And I'll never, ever, ever forget the. The paramedic looked me in the eye and he's like, you're wrong. Who is this? This is my uncle. He said you. He saved his life. He saved his life. And so that obviously left a deep, deep impact on me. And I just. He took me under his wing after that, and even more so into the. The whole healthcare space. That's my initial interest. Like, you know, that crowning moment which kind of defined.
Yeah, that's really interesting. A lot of people don't have that moment that early. Some people do, of course. Some people pick it up when they're, you know, in double digits, but not yet a teenager. And other people pick it up in high school or college or, you know, have some experience, some health exposure experience or whatever. It's interesting. It started so young for you, so you've really been on this path and your. Your background, you went down several different paths of study. You've gone. Just explain that to the audience what you. What your background is.
So believe it or not, I was originally. So I originally, I was all groomed to go to do school, which I'm sure you're a do, right? No, you're an md of course. So I was originally groomed to go to do school because my close friend, the father was. Lived right down the block from high school together, was in school together. Her father was the president of the state society of osteopathic Physician. So I was gonna. I was on track with my friend. We were studying. I was on track. It turns out that my sister had an experience and she had her life transformed and she became a chiropractor. So holistic also. She was a. She was a few years ahead of Me and she just said instead of. What happened is I went to a lot of hospitals. I was volunteering in emergency rooms and physician's office. And I would ask these doctors, tell me how you like your life. You tell me about your. Just tell me about your life. And they were all disillusioned, frustrated and burnt out. So I'm like, do I really want this?
That sounds exciting. I think I want to jump in on that. Right.
So I, my sister was like seeing his patients are happy, she's happy. She has a real sense of professional fulfillment. So you know, I was struck with this idea of if you know the whole holistic chiropractic philosophy is allow the body to heal itself, remove the interference, remove all the obstacles that stimulate genuine authenticity, homeostasis, bring in balance. And so that's what happened. So I, I went. So I wound up becoming extremely successful, helping many, many people, seeing a lot of people. But then like a lot of docs especially this was back 20 years ago. I got, got burnt out with the whole insurance paradigm. So for those of you who are. Anyone watching this podcast likely understands if you're following the Dr. Glad in here, but anyone understands that the insurance model is based on sick care, not healthcare. So it's just like you're on a hamster wheel. You're not seeing true results in patients.
That's right. So you left all that. When did you leave? When did you leave that world?
That was back in 2011. So I had, I got burnt out with the insurance thing and I was, I had a colleague friend of mine say get into anti aging cash based services and get away from insurance. Get out of that burner. Get out of like go back to your original roots of why you're in health care to be, to help people. Hello. That's why we're here, truly. So I got it. I tried things and failed. Tried this and found and I got into red light therapy back in 2011 when no one even knew what it was. I got lucky manufacturer in the UK and I wound up helping. Being so successful right off the bat, helping all these people in such a significant meaningful way. I started sharing it with colleagues. Wound up becoming the exclusive distributor for that UK based manufacturer was called Lipo Light Red Light. It was before, ahead of its time. Now red light everyone knows about and talks about because there's thousands and thousands of studies later. So this is all evidence based. So it does everything from like shrink fat cells to stimulate balance in the hormones. So a lot of the things that you are doing to Help achieve optimization and brain energy metabolism and inflammation and neurocognitive. News flash everyone. There's thousands of studies showing that these technologies, these new innovations in anti aging and wellness medicine can absolutely transform the quality of your.
Yeah, I don't think there's, I don't think there's any question about that. I think it's interesting you were in so early on this. I know I kind of stepped away from cardiology in 2012. So you were, you kind of stepped into this at that time about the same time, same, same, same era, if you will. I think so it's interesting. You got into the red light therapy and then you. There's some special things about the, the red light bed that you currently use.
Yes.
Tell us about that, how that compares to other red light beds, things that you've seen.
So ladies and gentlemen who are listening to this, you happen to be listening to somebody who has deep, deep, deep experience. And so as you might imagine doing this for this length, I'm obsessed not just with like you, we're so similar, Doug. I'm obsessed with results. And what separates a lot of these technologies is kind of sort of maybe results versus oh my God, outstanding, consistent results.
Yeah.
So let's share with you what separates say for instance the kind of top tier technology that I put my heart and stamp of approval behind, which is basically we can announce to your audience. I mean we're layering these technologies into. You have the. Into your practice. So you're going to appreciate this isn't just here's this new technology that really is good. I'm. You're dealing with the best of the best of the best. What does that mean? There's a lot of great options on the market, but it comes down to some key things. Number one has to do with even the design of the bed. If you look at most beds, like I was just speaking to one of my practitioners has one of my competitors beds. He just, you know, so the thing is like two feet above the patient's body, for instance, when you go into a red light bed and there's something called an inverse square law, people. And what does that mean? If you have two different light sources, one is say twice as far away from the patient's body as the other. Well, that person is twice as far away from the source of the light is only getting one fourth the energy into the body. It's three times as way. It's only, it's only a ninth. So what does that mean? Most of these bends that I see on the market. It's just, it's. They're losing all of its effectiveness because it's too far away. Okay. That, that device needs to be super close. So if you notice, Oz, how well designed it is, it's right on top of the body. It's super close, both above and below. The other thing to separate us is just to give you an idea, like I mentioned to you, this is not about. Here's this cool red light device. Yeah. It stimulates skin and collagen. I'm about an experiential result every single time with the patient. Every single time. So this isn't like, oh, wow, I think I kind of sort of maybe got, you know, it's like, wow, thank you. Please, may I have enough. It's like, so your patients, for instance, or people who, who understand this and utilize it. It's game changing. It's game changing. It's true. It's deep.
Your bed has a, has a power element to it as well. When I went over and had a chance to use it a couple times in a day, in addition to some other things, it was a ten minute protocol. Right.
So that's correct. So if you notice most of the red light technologies out there, they'll say 20 minutes and some even 30. So if you look at, if you understand the science and look at the power outage, there's something called a power density. So what does that mean? Well, this is international. So it's measured in, instead of energy per square inch, it's energy measured in per square centimeter. So per centimeter squared, you look at technology that go from say 10, 20, maybe up to 30 or 50, 80. Just to give you an idea of the intensity and the power and the. It's measured in this power density measurement per square center. Ours is up to 125 to 140. Okay. So this is like wow level. It's like walking into a room and having nice ambient light there. That may be a comparison to somebody else. Now you turn the dim switch all the way up. And so now it's, it's the number of photons. It's the quantity of energy that the body is absorbing. It's. It's the intensity, the amount. It's called joules. So this technology is measured in over 10 million joules in a 10 minute session. So it's like, wow, it's truly off the chain. And what does that mean? It's all about results. True results, lasting results, deep results. So when you're in that level, when you're playing in that sandbox, it becomes a lot of fun.
Yeah, absolutely. You know, when you're talking about intensity and power density and things like that, there are kind of different. Just so the audience understands, there are kind of different power densities out there related to what you're treating. So, you know, if you're treating skin lower densities, 10 to 50 is typically what's used. For deeper tissues, though you want between 50 and 200. If you get over 250 or 300 milliwatts per centimeter squared, you can, you can actually go the other direction. So everything is in medicine and in biology is really based on balance. Right. And so it's about getting the Goldilocks dose, if you will. But what's interesting is with the power that you have in your bed, it has some dramatic impact on brain function, joint function, muscle function, things like that. So that's pretty interesting.
What I would recommend for anybody listening to this, couple of quick things. Number one, absolutely, yes, this does help for brain function, brain function, pain, inflammation, neurocognitive levels. If you're out there and your family member, you're listening to this and you're thinking, wow, you mean to tell me this can help Grandpa, grandma, or somebody I care about? The answer is absolutely. That's why Dr. Gladden here is such an important voice to let people understand, guess what? Yes, this is truly a potential solution. We didn't have this. Our families didn't have this growing up. But guess what? We have it now. And you're a beautiful example of how you're helping many people in such a sincere way. So, yes, this is possible. Yes, do it now, too. If I can share my thought with anyone considering looking at their options. Don't wait, don't wait. Soon as the best time to do it is already. Second best time is right now. For real.
Well, yeah, I think that's true in health in general is there's no time like the present. Really. It's never going to be easier or better. You have a number of different wavelengths inside your bed as well, if I'm not mistaken.
Yes.
660 maybe in there, I think there's nine. I don't have the numbers right in front of me. I don't know if you can rattle them off, but it's a. It's about five or six different.
That's right.
Frequencies, and they'll stand. So we start with go ahead now. Go ahead, walk us through it.
Well, we, we, we start with red light. Red light is a particular wavelength you know, just like the whole spectrum of electromagnetic, visible light. Right. If you remember from high school or even medical school, Roy G. B. Red, orange, yellow. So these are all different wavelengths. Okay, this, the size of the wavelengths, these are called. These are measured in the length of the wavelength. Okay. So red happens to be 630 to, like you mentioned, 655ish. This is red light. It's visible light. The energies from the red light are typically more superficial. So what does it do more stimulating? New collagen. It's incredible. People, for those of you who haven't seen it or understand it yet, understand that the red light, incredibly, especially on this bed, this is not like a normal bed. This bed is hospital grade, the real deal, superpower. So this bed, you're stimulating. Intense amount of collagen, you're stimulating. So what does this mean if you have saggy skin? If you're one of these Ozempic patients or whatever who have a lot of saggy skin? Well, instead of cutting it off, which some cases it may, may need to be, I'm not totally opposed to it, but if you just the average amount, it tightens the skin up under your arms. Your decollete, collagen, elastin, your cellulite. Okay, this is effective. It works beautifully. And it's hands free. So that's red light. It does more superficial. Then we have near infrared, which is actually invisible to the human eye. That's more like penetrates even a lot more deeper.
Yeah, 800 to 880 nanometers.
Right? And near infrared is invisible to the human eye. Like some people say, look at these diodes on this bed. It looks like it's not even upright. It's invisible. Penetrates a lot more deeply into the body, so it goes into the deeper visceral fat. So think about this, people. Your body's absorbing all these different wavelengths of light. And we're talking about light, guys, both visible and invisible. So if you think about the power of or the elements that can truly heal the human body, we go back to fundamentals and basics. In my case, what I represent, what I understand, what I enjoy, is the elements of the Earth. What is that? Light, magnetism and oxygen. So these are fundamental Earth's elements, right? Light, magnetism and oxygen. So the light is red light with different wavelengths that. Listen, people, what this does. Let me give it to you like this. It's. It energizes the biology. It energizes your biochemistry. It up regulates, it shifts.
Yeah, it can upregulate ATP production Right. In the mitochondria, which can energize other repairs. It is interesting that as you change the wavelength and the depth of penetration changes from sort of superficial for skin, as you were talking about, into the near infrared where it can go 2-3 cm in. Right. So think about that. It can go, you know, an inch into the skin. You can actually get through the skull into the brain. You can, you can use it in conjunction with other healing therapies for joints. This is sometimes done with laser too at a particular wavelength that's focused on areas. And then there are helmets that people put on to do red light for the brain. There's been a lot of studies using this for optimizing cognitive ability and also decreasing dementia risk.
It's fascinating if you stop and really think about this. You know, here's what's cool to understand. This is having real results on real people. It's a beautiful thing. You know, there's thousands and thousands of studies. So initially like I'm thinking of this patient right now, this lady, a beautiful soul. She lost literally 200 pounds. I know, it's like what in her case we, some offices were working with GLP1 doctors. That means they're already doing this tirzepatide and semaglutide. But now they want to integrate these types of this technology. Specifically for instance for weight loss. Most of the physicians in weight in clinics, they're into the whole anti aging and longevity medicine aspect of it, similar to you. But the number one typical use with low hanging fruit, so to speak, is weight loss. Why is that said? It's gone up in the last five, eight years from 70 to 75%, 75Americans either obese or overweight.
So we got a major dramatic, isn't it when you walk through an airport and it does, it does depend on where you are in the country. I will say that, you know, it's different in Denver than it is in true that Dallas, Texas or New Orleans or even Miami for that matter.
Right.
So but yeah, it's become a absolute epidemic of obesity and obesity related metabolic problems like prediabetes, diabetes, insulin resistance, lots of hormonal issues, increased oxidative stress, which accelerates aging in dramatic ways. And when you're using this red light, you know, and you're using at the right wavelengths here, you not only are increasing ATP production, but you can actually decrease oxidative stress at the same time that you're increasing nitric oxide release, which is important for blood vessel health. So there's some really nice interplay here in terms of if you're trying to take somebody who's metabolically challenged, let's say they're overweight, have too much percent body fat, and they feel sluggish all the time, you can actually sort of in conjunction with other therapies and we could talk about GLP1s, what they're, what they, what they can do, what they can't do, what you have to be careful of. But nonetheless, if you can actually get somebody to start feeling energized again, then they are able to start walking, then they're able to start doing this or whatever, right? So it's really, it's really kind of developing a system that enables you to take somebody from a place where they have no energy, they're sedentary, they're obese, they're overweight, they're eating poorly, and they're pre diabetic, for that matter, aging much more rapidly. And then through a series of interventions, one of which can be things like red light, serial red light bed exposures, you can actually start to move them to a point where they can actually start to activate other, what we would all consider more healthy habits. They have more willpower to eat better, they have more willpower to go for a walk and things like that. Right. So it's really, the way I see is it's almost like a rescue kind of scenario, right? It's like almost backing up a, a tow truck to a vehicle that's stuck in the mud and you've gotta, you know, hitch on the hooks and, and stuff, and you got to start to move it until it can start to move on its own. Right. And then it can also help get itself out of the ditch. Right. So yeah, yeah.
What's exciting is we're taking them off the hamster wheel of just masking the symptoms and getting to root cause. Hello. This is where patients are getting smarter and smarter. They're not buying into the whole, let me just stay on meds forever, okay?
That's right.
There's looking for people like you who don't precision medicine, looking to how to shift certain specific biologies. Well, here's this other tool. So here's what happens. We're talking about results, ladies and gentlemen. Okay? This is an esoteric. This isn't like, you know, a bunch of people just talking about potential. We're talking about real life results. So what does that mean? There's real hope this stuff is legit. And so that's what I'm about. That's what you're about. And in my case with bio anti age and this technology and the way we do it. One other thing I wanted is just works. It works like a charm. It works consistently. It's a beautiful, beautiful thing for weight loss.
What's the frequency that you have people come and use your bed? How often, how many times a week are they doing it?
So it depends on the condition and depends on the scenario. Obviously it's not necessarily, it's not a cookie cutter thing. But just to give you an idea, so the way we do weight loss is completely different than anything else on the market. That is say you're on glp. I'll get to. We can do the same thing without. But say you run, say you're taking a semi glutard, you're taking one of those skinny shot ozempics, right. Like millions and millions of Americans who are if you're on it. But guess what, you probably know that number one, most people don't stay on it. The statistics, if you look at the, the insurance companies, the average person is only on that for a year and then they come up and guess what happens? They go back. So we're dealing with the same. It's not a solution. It's not a true, true solution. I mean you're speaking to somebody who gets it and loves it and understand specifically tirzepatine. It has many metabolic effects. The whole sugar handling and. But all I'm suggesting is the way we do is like this. We. You can start them on that or the patient's already on that. Great. But then we introduce a full body cellular detoxification process. What does that mean? The reason why people are typically overweight, especially in the US with all these chemicals and toxins and preservatives. It's a nightmare, people more so than you even realize. So what does that mean? We have inflammation. The reason why most people have this insulin sensitivity is and overweight is because of number one, inflammation. So we start there, we pull out the information extremely effectively. Okay. What we do, we just do it, right? It's a blueprint, it's a system, it's a follow the elder grow. Shut off the inflammation, you release all the weight loss resistance so that whether you're on the GLP or not. So then the weight stabilizes, we take you off the glp, we transition you off and then you do more red light. So you continue after the red light, you go on the vibration platform that you know, the shaker machine to stimulate all the lymphatic Drainage, get the toxins out of the body. So the red light opens that fat cell, releases it, can all the constituents spill out. The whole cell collapses and shrinks. Then you go on that shaker machine for just 10 minutes, easy breezy. In conjunction with the detox. And we also combine this and layer this with. As you know, I have a mindtap. So it's a series, is basically, it's basically hypnotherapy for those of you who are more spiritual, which I am. But it's just you're. You're feeling your. Yourself, you're. You're stepping in, you're feeling your subconscious mind with new ideas about eating healthier. A lot of people have bad habits, like you say. So this is a key component. So red light detox. And then we give the body the nutrient, the nutrients it needs. In our case, we use sublingual. So it's easy breezy, and it goes right into the bloodstream. It's full absorption. This works great. We taper them off a couple of times back and forth, and then we do a full cellular reset, a hypothalamic reset. We're resetting that part of the brain that controls the metabolism. Basically, people, it's a fat reset.
And how do you actually accomplish the hypothalamic reset in this context?
Well, they come in for their sessions of red light. You mentioned how many. Our offices, you have to typically do it once a week. Come in for red light once a week. And the way our beds are designed, it's more automated, so these patients go in and out. There's no tech needed. It's a beautiful thing. It's easy breezy. It's simple works. So they come in once a week. Most offices will depend how their business model is. They can come up to three times, three, four times a week.
Got it. Okay.
It's only short treatment time, so it's easy breezy. You're in and out.
It's 10 minutes, basically. 10 minutes.
It's a beautiful thing.
Yeah.
Think about what other modality, what other treatment. If you have a. A laser, right? We all know a laser, the image. When a laser. And what this light is, is a laser is. It could be the same frequency, but it's a just. It's focused. It's coherent light, they call it. But once that light goes through the skin, it diffuses anyway. So LEDs is just a much better solution. It's a lot more energy. It's full body. It's not attended. It's more intensity. It's just a smarter, better way.
And with the detox, you're getting some detox through the. Actually being in the. In the red, in the red light, in the near infrared is helping to activate detox. We have ways to upregulate detox genetics also. One of the things that we do is do genetic testing on everybody to see who detox as well and where they get stuck. And then depending on what their genes show us, we can put them on different supplements to actually upregulate.
So that's one of the beautiful things about what they. What you do. You do what's truly precision medicine. Somebody's got a detox malfunctioning gene, you know, you know, diseases, as you know, is often a lack of certain nutrients. So you supply that and so you. That pathway gets activated, right?
That's right. Gets activated. You can, you can manage the oxidative stress that goes along with inflammation. One of the reasons inflammation is bad is because it causes excess oxidative stress at the tissue levels. So then we can optimize a person's ability to manage oxidative stress. Also there's a genetic component and then there's nutritional components, etc. I'm actually giving a webinar on this tomorrow.
On what? Specifically talking about the oxidative.
Oxidative stress. Yeah.
So guess what? All your beautiful patients who were indicated, you gotta have a superpowered tool to shut off that oxy to slow it all down.
Yeah, no, I'm. I'm excited to use the red light bed in conjunction with the other things we're doing because I think that it's all gonna sort of dovetail together. Biology really responds to systematic approaches. Typically nuts. Just.
That's wisdom from on y. Say it again, doc.
Systematic approaches. Right. So this is one of the problems with just relying on a GLP1. And I'm not here to bash them because there is, you know, they were quite an interesting medicine. They basically have shown significant benefits for diabetics with regards to congestive heart failure, cardiovascular events, protecting kidneys, things like that. The downside, however, is that when you use them on a regular basis, and this is true for weight loss, is that we see. Because we're measuring. We have DEXA scans here. So we're measuring bone density and we're measuring body composition within body. We see people lose muscle mass and we see them preferentially lose muscle over fat when they're using a GLP one. And we also see loss of bone density. So, yes, it's suppressing appetite, which is really how it works. It's an appetite suppressant.
Right.
But with a GLP1, we're actually seeing that yes, you're losing weight, but you're losing, you're losing the part of your body you don't want to lose and you're hanging on to the party part of your body you don't want to hang on to. So it's, you're not really getting what you want. And so it's really important for people not to focus on the scale. I think focusing on the number on the scale is really misleading. Like if you sat there and say, I'm going to do a water fast for 20 days. I had a guy come in here, said, I'm doing a water fast for 28 days. I said, really? How many days are you into it? Said, I'm two weeks into it. I said, well, great, let's go check your body composition on the inbody. Oh my gosh, this guy had lost tons of muscle, right? Very little fat. And it's like, well, here's, here's the facts of what's actually happening here. You sure you want to continue with this? And yes, fasting is very healthy because it causes the body to become, to go into recycle mode, right. Where you increase autophagy and you increase breakdown of, you know, deform proteins and you recycle organelles and all the different things that you need to do. Lovely, wonderful. We love it. But when you get into these scenarios with either extended fasting or with GLP1s for extended period of time, you actually start to break the body down. You're actually losing muscle mass and protein. And the reason for that is that your body can't survive on fat alone. There are other minerals and things that it needs, and so it can only get those. Fat only is fat. It's only energy, right? So if it needs other minerals because you're not eating, then it's got to get it from someplace. So it's got to pull it from the bones, it's got to pull it from the muscles, right? So just realize that if weight loss is your goal, what we really coach people on is that body composition should be the goal. And if you're really interested in optimizing body composition, that means, yeah, you'll put on some muscle, yes, you'll lose some fat, your weight will shift, but your body composition will shift in a very healthy way. Now you have more bone density, more muscle mass, more ability to, to do things. And yes, your fat percent goes down and your Fat distribution is significantly improved, but that's really what we think people should focus on. So there are scales that you can buy at home, you know, like an in body scale that will use electrical impedance to actually read your body each morning and tell you where your percent body fat is, where your percent muscle mass is and things like that. And that's a better way when you're at home doing these things to kind of track, okay, what's actually happening here? What are we really doing? Yes, I'm losing quote, unquote weight. But what weight am I losing? Am I losing good weight or am I losing bad weight? Right. So anyway, that's kind of how we think about it.
Well, you and I clearly are completely, obviously in alignment. And so the message for people listening is, you know, most doctors are doing glp. They have seemingly a solution, but it's not a true solution. As you said, the patients on this wind up losing muscle, and muscle is the organ of longevity. So this is a better way. So patients are coming to understand. Yeah, GLP1 maybe it's great for somebody who's morbidly obese and they're like a walking, talking time bomb about to have a stroke or something. So you're taking so for that reason, but I just want people to understand, yes, that's good, but there's even a better way, like you understand it. You get it, doc? So we, we transition them. You can use it to just to prime them. You take them off for a full body cellular reset, a metabolic reset, a fat reset for permanent results. Hello. This is what we want. So it's a better solution. You're focusing on your body composition. It is all about muscle. It is not about that number on the scale. You're absolutely right. This is why this education is so critical, to make better choices. And the way you're doing it is just a better solution. So people have a lot of common sense and they get it. So that's why they're choosing GLAD and longevity, obviously and Bio ndh.
Well, I appreciate that. Yeah. You know, there are some interesting things being done that we're starting to do with the GLP1s, which is to microdose them, where you're getting some of the, the actual benefits from them. As I mentioned, there are some really nice benefits with regards to vascular health and brain health and decreased cardiovascular risk and improved kidney function and things like that, even some cognitive improvements. But if you're using a tenth of the dose, you're not actually using enough to suppress appetite to a point where you're depleting, you know, bone density and muscle mass. So that's one thing to keep in mind. Again, we're not anti GLP1. We're what we really are is very proud optimize body composition and using only a GLP one is not going to get you there is what we've seen. The other thing for you to think about, we talked about fasting. I just want to mention this. There is a Prolon, Prolon five day fast mimicking diet which actually is very, very helpful because during that five days when you're quote unquote fasting you are eating at the same time there's some nuts, some olives, some soups that they've put together and some things like that. So you do eat some calories each day as you go through your five day fast mimicking diet. And that's the beauty of that has been that because there is some carbs in there, they've actually shown that you're not, there's enough to keep your body from actually having to tap into the muscle. And so in the five day fast when we can diet you're actually not losing muscle mass, you're actually losing fat mass and you're resetting many things in your body which when you talk about metabolic reset, it's really nice to reset your appetite, reset your taste buds, reset your gut biome, right? All these things get reset in terms of a five day fast mimicking diet. And then one of the other things that we've gotten into with GLP1s is understanding that certain bacteria in your gut, in the microbiome, you endogenously you make your own GLP1, right? And so if you take a probiotic, a GLP1 promonium probiotic that has Akkermansia in it, this is a good way for you to get off your GLP1 and still have some of the good benefits of it again, but not to the extent where you're, you're starting to just tear your body apart for the sake of a number on the scale. Right? So anyway, these are just some of the ways that we go about it here as well.
Well this is why you're superior. I mean your system is clearly heads and shoulders above the way most people do because they are just focused on. Let's just put on our common sense hat this is just a smarter, better olution. Microdosing the GLP and eventually even taking them off. And these people have a true permanent basically they have a graduation date and they, they have the, their body understands that they're in control of it. So they get to their body starts responding super well. So they, and they're obviously you're measuring. You said another key thing for people who really want to dial down into this, you have to get a full body composition scale. Like you mentioned, they're treat, they have apps, you can track it every day. A lot of our providers, they have their patients who send those numbers in daily. So we can, when they have their monthly assessment or whatever, they, they can check to see the progress on a body comp. So these numbers are key. These are the tools that you need. Here are the solutions. You get it. So for people who were hoping to, oh my God, I want to really, truly this is, I really want to handle this situation in life. Here's we got solutions. It's exciting and it's, it's a beautiful.
Thing because it really is exciting. There's a couple other pieces to it that I'll just mention. One is that we do a resting metabolic rate on everybody in to their thyroid blood work. And what we find is a lot of people that struggle with weight actually have subclinical hypothyroidism where they just aren't getting enough thyroid activity at the cellular level. And when we fix that for them, all of a sudden.
So give me an example of how you help people like balance the thyroid.
Well, it depends. So.
And how you've seen success like this. Give me a couple of like share.
Yeah, so let's say somebody comes in and they're, they're not feeling particularly good energy. They feel like they're putting on some weight and things like that. Well, one of the very first things we'll check is their thyroid. And so how do you check a thyroid? Well, we do very complete thyroid blood test to make sure there isn't any Hashimoto's thyroiditis or any antibodies against the thyroid. We're looking at, you know, T3, T4 free, T3 free, T4, TSH, reverse T3, you know, all the different things that you would look for in a blood test. But then we also hook them up to a metabolic card and have them breathe through a mask for about 20 minutes. And we measure how much oxygen they can consume and how much CO2 they can produce. And from that we can actually calculate their resting metabolic rate. And many times what we'll see is that their, their blood work is in the quote unquote normal range, but their resting metabolic rate is low, which means that the cells are turning over at a slower rate. They're utilizing oxygen at a lower rate. And so if we see that, then we look for, okay, well, what could be causing that? Is there some underlying infection? Are they low on iodine? Do they simply need a low dose of thyroid? And then what we do is we look at their brain through a genetic test to look at a DIO2 gene to see if they're converting inactive thyroid to active thyroid in the brain, T4 to T3. And many people are deficient in their ability to do that. So then if they get thyroid replacement, they're going to need a combination of active T3 and inactive T4, not just inactive T4 like Synthroid, like is typically prescribed. So when you tease these things apart and then put back together the, the solution, the lights come on for people, energy comes on, and then all of a sudden, yes, it's easier to lose weight. It's also easier to focus, it's easier to be motivated. Right. So we think thyroid is, is really critical to get right whenever you're talking about weight loss. So, yeah, that's another thing. And then the other thing we do is we do a two hour glucose tolerance test with an insulin curve for everybody, because that's critical. There's so much, there's so much underlying insulin resistance out there, even in people that have normal hemoglobin A1Cs, let's say their hemoglobin A1C is 5.2 and their fasting blood sugar is 8. You'd say, you know, every doctor on the planet would say, you are not diabetic, you have nothing to worry about. Our approach is to say that's great, that's great at rest. Let's do a stress test. So let's have you drink 75 grams of glucose and see what happens. And many times people will control that very well. But other times, people's blood sugar will shoot up to 180, shouldn't get over 135, and their insulin level will go up, shouldn't go up more than five times the resting level, and it'll go up 10 or 15 times. So we immediately know that they have insulin resistance. And then genetically we can see that they may be predisposed to that. So when you, when you take this, when you do the actual, actual deconstruction of the person's genetics, their metabolism, their biometric testing, you can actually come up with a program that becomes a custom fit and you're able to weave this together in a way where people get results they couldn't get otherwise, and they can get there much faster because you're not really just throwing potential solutions at the wall and hoping one sticks. You're basically giving them exactly what it is they need. It's kind of like Everybody's a, an F1 car, a Formula One car, a Ferrari.
Right.
If you bring it into the shop because it's not running right, you don't just throw tires on it, you don't just throw oil in it and hope that fixes it. Right. You've got to actually do the diagnostics to see where is the issue and then you can put it back out on the track. That's kind of how we think about it.
So that's why you're genius, because you're really dial. It's not a one size fits all. You're truly, truly personalized precision medicine here.
That's it.
And you're like almost reverse engineering. You're looking under the, you're not just like the typical mechanic who's just doing the fundamentals. You're seeing, you're doing deep, deep diagnostic, seeing the biological pathways, what's working, what's not, what genes are turned on, what's not, what are we dealing with here? Everyone is private and personalized and that's why you get better results.
That's right. And then, you know, their hormones factor into it too. What is your testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, what's that look like? You know, where are you? There are many factors that go into this. Biology is a complex system and so you have to take this systems approach to it to actually get the best results for people. But to your point, when you do, you can get really durable results for people. And that's really gratifying. I mean you change people's lives, right? And I think, you know, we're excited to kind of incorporate some of the red light stuff beyond what we've currently had as another, another tool and another piece of the solution. So that's cool stuff. Yeah.
I predict as you layer these new technologies, including the hyperbaric with red light therapy inside there by the way, people, which is very unusual. So I mean you're really getting the top echelon, top tier stuff. The latest, most innovative, most cutting edge technologies, your incredible success, I predict that you're gonna feel so professionally, even fulfilled even more. And I know that you're make, you're, you're changing lives. So this is the beauty and the magic of it.
That's the joy right there is, is really helping people step forward into everything that they can become. Right. That's really the joy of it for, I think, for both of us. Well, Mike, I really appreciate you taking the time to chat here. It's been great.
And then you, on top of all that you do and you understand it is you layer in the mindset approach, like longevity medicine. The number one thing is shift your mindset, people, and you will.
Oh yeah, it's a new world out there, right? It's a new world when you optimize your mindset, for sure. So.
So that's what they get, a glass longevity. So I get that about you and what you're doing. So it's a beautiful.
Well, just full disclosure. Dr. Mike and I have worked out some stuff. We're bringing in the red light and the HBOT over here, right. Hyperbaric. And he's going to come over and do a bunch of testing with us and kind of we're going to deconstruct Dr. Mike and sort of see where we can push and pull to make him even better too. Right. So it's. Well, maybe we'll have to do another podcast and report back on this.
So. Yeah, so it's been a pleasure.
Yeah, absolutely. Thanks so much.
