Dr. Jeffrey Gladden explains why most diets fail: they ignore genetics, gut microbiome, immune function, and individual nutrient needs. A one-size-fits-all approach to macros doesn't work because everyone's body is different.

And so understanding, yeah, maybe it's a good food, but maybe not as good food for this person, right? So being able to sort that out, I think, lets us some higher degrees around precision. And I think if you're listening to this, there are a million diets out there. And the real question is, what's the one that fits you? And it's not the easiest thing to figure out. You've got to really kind of understand your genetics and your gut biome, your gut, your digestive system, how you're digesting foods, whether you're digesting them appropriately. Then you've got to understand the immune system and inflammation and— things going on there, interactions with foods, and then back to the genetics again in terms of what nutrients you need and what quantities to make everything work well. So it's actually a complex field even though, you know, people tend to gloss over it and say, well, it's about macros or it's about, you know, this and that or whatever. It's really quite interesting.
