Hi, I'm Dr. Jameca Cooper, and thanks for joining my channel and watching this video. Today we are talking about what's going to be quite fascinating for many of you, and we're introducing this new theme, this new series called Toxic. And I want to walk you through what the different pieces of Toxic will be. Many of you probably have lots of experience in various relationships that have been toxic, but I want to walk you through my definition of toxic and what all of these different videos that will be coming out will be focusing on. So toxic, we spell it right, T-O-X-I-C. So the T in toxic stands for targeting, because what I want to do in these videos is target specific behaviors, specific situations, specific people that are more likely to suffer from some of these behaviors or some of these patterns. So targeting is the T. The O is going to be observable, right? Because I'm going to be talking about behaviors, patterns that we observe, things we've seen, things we've experienced Things we've seen on TV, in a movie, all of that is considered observable. Why? Because we've observed it, right? The X stands for excessive. Most of the times what I see in therapy is that something happens to you once, maybe twice, or you do something once or twice, not an issue. It's when that behavior is repeated, becomes a pattern, gets to the point where it's seen as excessive. So the X, remember, is for excessive. The I stands for inappropriate or interrelational. Inappropriate, in other words, it's fine in one setting, not fine in another setting. That's inappropriate. Interrelational just means could happen or could occur in various types of relationships. Toxic behavior does not only come in the form of a romantic relationship or a marriage. It can come in lots of other shapes, forms, and sizes, right? So the I was for inappropriate interrelational. The C stands for conduct. Conduct is behavior. So most of what people complain about, what they want information on, is about conduct and behavior that either they are doing and behaving in ways, or it is being done to them. So these are all the reasons to talk about this type of conduct. This is my definition of toxic. Again, you've learned what the T, the O, the X, the I, and the C will be. I wanted to make sure you understand what toxic will mean in the series of videos that you will see following this one. This is an introduction to give you an idea of what to expect coming forth from all the videos. We're going to focus on, like I said, different types of people. So who is most likely to be in a toxic relationship? Is it men? Is it women? Why? Where do you see that at, right? What age? Where do you see that at? Where do we learn these toxic behaviors? And who is most at risk for developing and showing toxic behaviors? We're going to talk about all of that in this series, so stay tuned. Subscribe to this channel, share this video, set your notifications so that you know our new videos will come out twice a week so that you can be on top of it. And we also will be doing a live coming up. I would love to hear from the people that watch these videos and subscribe to this channel. I want questions, I want comments, I want to hear from you. What is your experience with toxic behavior? Everyone has it, right? I got lots of stories. I won't even go through it now, but I probably will later. So stay tuned. Thanks for joining.
